  1. Updated: 12:22 PM EST Third Person Dies in Hepatitis Outbreak By JOE MANDAK, AP PITTSBURGH (Nov. 14) - Another hepatitis patient died Friday, bringing to three the number of deaths from a hepatitis A outbreak linked to a Mexican restaurant in western Pennsylvania. Meanwhile, the restaurant chain said it was removing green onions from the menu in all of its outlets. AP A Chi Chi's restaurant closed after the hepatitis outbreak, but officials are unsure of the illness' source. The patient died around 4:15 a.m. Friday at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, the hospital said in a statement. No other information about the latest victim was released. More than 400 people have fallen ill from the outbreak, linked to a Chi-Chi's restaurant in the Beaver Valley Mall, about 25 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. Jeff Cook, 38, died on Nov. 7 of liver failure in a Pittsburgh hospital. Dineen Wieczorek, 52, died in a Cleveland hospital Wednesday night while awaiting a liver transplant, said her daughter, Darleen Trunzo. Both Cook and Wieczorek had eaten at the restaurant in October, according to their families. One person diagnosed with hepatitis A remained in critical condition Friday and three were in fair condition at Pittsburgh hospitals. On Thursday, Louisville, Ky.-based Chi-Chi's announced it was removing green onions from all meals at its 100 restaurants as a precaution, although state and federal health officials said they have yet to pinpoint the cause of the outbreak. Pennsylvania health officials continued to interview each victim for clues about how the virus spread. Pennsylvania Health Department spokesman Jay Pagni said some of the newer cases may have resulted from people passing the virus to others who hadn't eaten at the restaurant. Chi-Chi's has agreed to keep the restaurant closed until Jan. 2 - two months after it voluntarily closed following initial reports of the disease. Chi-Chi's Chief Operating Officer Bill Zavertnik said in a statement Thursday night that the restaurant chain was pulling green onions from meals because they are ''the prime suspect of recent hepatitis A outbreaks in various other states.'' Contaminated green onions are suspected of being responsible for a recent outbreaks in Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee. ''We have no definitive information that green onions were involved in this outbreak. But out of an abundance of caution we have decided to remove this ingredient from our menu,'' Zavertnik said. Infectious disease experts say finding the source of the outbreak can be challenging because hepatitis A has a long incubation period, meaning the virus could be spread to many places before it's detected. Pennsylvania health officials didn't begin warning the public until Nov. 3. The disease can be spread by an infected person who doesn't wash his hands before handling food, eating utensils or even ice used in drinks. It can also be spread on uncooked foods, like green onions. The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is investigating.

  5. it is perfectly normal. as a matter of fact, it is listed as an option (freefly mod) on another major gear manufacturers equipment. you can choose to use it or not. if you don't want to use it, remove the bungee. simple as that.
  6. its okay katie. you spent all weekend keeping chuckie b alive. it is okay if you didn't get it right away.... xoxo. hmmp. lion taming for extreme games....

  11. ..why does this make me think of the great kahuna burger? a
  12. they're just rubber bands that are looped thru your hip rings. you pull your t-shirt bottom edge thru the rubberband and it keeps your shirt from blowing up and over your handles. click on the link that i edited to say "CLICK HERE TO SEE PICS" in the original post and you'll see what they're talking about....
  13. basically, people (myself included) have been using rubber bands on their hip rings to secure the bottom of their shirts for freeflying to prevent the shirts from flying up and covering our handles. yep tucking the shirt in or wearing a freefly suit would minimize this. anyhow, the rigging dept at rws discovered that this causes wear on the harness. this information can apply to all rigs. Relative Workshop has it on their website and i think it's good info to put out there for everyone. I know that I do this with my stuff when i freefly in street clothes. thanks to the rigging dept at rws for bringing this to folks' attention. arlo please refer to: CLICK HERE TO SEE PICS.
  14. oh give me a break, you eat bacon at cracker barrel like the rest of us. a
  15. For those of you that may have this or have family or friends that are infected, please check out the link below. it could minimize the progression of the hepatitis c virus (which is at epidemic proportions now). A new drug that prevents a contagious virus from duplicating in the body could be a new weapon against hepatitis C, a disease that could kill more people than AIDS, scientists said on Sunday. http://www.msnbc.com/modules/exports/ct_email.asp?/news/984673.asp
  16. blincoe was at the tunnel last night and i believe i remember him saying that he had an early morning of coaching, so that may explain his delayed response. he's pretty good about getting back to folks. hope this helps, arlo
  17. would you please expound on that statement? i'm terribly curious as to where you get your information (regarding the rig being the same since the early 90s). are you sure you're not making a second hand statement that you may believe to be the truth but actually is someone else's opinion? sunpath actually is building their rigs to the latest tso (d, i believe). i'd just hate for you to believe something that is truly a false statement. regarding big egos: hmmmmm. are you talking javelin owners or the folks at sunpath or all the world champion skydivers that wear the javs? I know alot of 'em in all those categories and none fit the 'big ego' statement....sorry. i think most rigs out there today are good rigs to buy. everyone is going to have their preference (hopefully) based upon their own opinion instead of someone else's. talons are good rigs (as are infinitys, vectors, wings, javelins, etc). blues, arlo p.s. the wait time for a new javelin is not almost a *year*...it's around 20 weeks. and congrats on your talon purchase.
  18. ...but that's what you wanted for dinner, dear. xoxo
