Visit any ICU and see the effects cocaine has and I bet you change your mind. So, you think alcohol should be illegal, or do the effects of drunk driving not bother you at the same ICU? Just because one may choose to drink alcohol does NOT mean they will choose to drive. However, if one chooses to do cocaine, even the smallest amount, they choose to run the risk of hemorrhage. They choose to run the risk of hemorrhage to themselves. As a skydiver don't you support a persons choice as to what risks they are willing to take for fun? And, if you don't think coke is fun, you haven't tried it.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20101101/ap_on_he_me/eu_med_dangerous_alcohol Actually, why alcohol should be legal, and all the drugs you don't like shouldn't be. As I've stated before, I don't use anything, but support legalization of all drugs. I want to hear arguments from those of you that drink but are adamant against legalization of other drugs.

I couldn't figure out how that show even made it on the air. I loved BG, but thought Caprica was horrible. Way too much of a snoozefest.

so only wealthy people should be able to serve as politicians? Besides the real money is in the influence they peddle, not the salary or the perks. If you want to attack corruption the real solution is to remove the influence of corporations and special interests. NO politician or political party should be able to accept any monies from any group. All political campaigns should be publicly funded with a set limit equal for all viable candidates running for an office.

I'm just flabbergasted at this . . . So, I'm not the only one. Skydivers are a bunch of perverts. LOL.

part of the problem is that it's very hard to eat healthy when you're poor. 1,000 calories of garbage is a lot cheaper than 1,000 healthy calories. Another part of the problem is that lower income areas also tend to have a higher percentage of less educated people that simply do not know how to eat healthy. Lack of education plus lack of funds creates a market place where apples and broccoli go bad, but 1.00 boxes of mac and cheese and 79c loaves of white bread fly off the shelfs. Simply funding supermarkets won't solve the underlying problems.

ALCU & AUSCS Press to Remove Christian Flag from War Memorial

Who gives a shit about the Afghan war vet, right? If there was decency then religious groups wouldn't be attempting to use the death of our soldiers for proselytizing. -

FAA to fine Lodi $664,000
doughboyshred replied to SkydiveJack's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Until now I have not contributed, but as someone who has never been to Lodi, knows nothing about Bill and his history (other than what I have read here), who doesn't know you, or anyone else in this discussion and as someone who served as an aircraft mechanic who has changed hundreds of perfectly good parts because they have timed out, I have to say that when I first read your 'skydiving is dangerous' comment I came to the same conclusion about what you wrote. I was not biased, prejudiced, nor had any preconceptions as I read it. Then I respectfully submit that you re-read what you think you read until you get it instead of arriving at a conclusion influenced not by actual content but by the bias, prejudice and pre-conceived notions advanced by 95 percent of the posters on either side of that one. I came to the same conclusions, and have no preconceived notions. As far as I can tell you need to rewrite what you wrote, because it is definitely NOT coming across the way you say you intended it to. -
poking fun is a good thing. I didn't read that in your post. my bad. I even attempted humor in my reply. Sometimes humor is lost in written communication.

That's my goal for sure. Obviously I haven't done that stuff yet, but goals are good, right?

California's Proposition 19. Legal Weed!! What's everyone think?
doughboyshred replied to Mike420's topic in Speakers Corner
You haven't paid any attention to my posts, have you? Just kneejerk reaction. I don't want to make any decisions for anyone. I support full legalization of ALL drugs. I would much prefer to see the money wasted on the drug war going to effective education and rehabilitation for addicts. The only governmental control I would like to see is an outright ban on advertising ALL drugs and alcohol (even big pharma). -
California's Proposition 19. Legal Weed!! What's everyone think?
doughboyshred replied to Mike420's topic in Speakers Corner
I think it goes both ways. Use of alcohol increases the chances that a person is in a situation where they can be assaulted. It also is a contributing factor for the perpetrator of such violence. How many frat boy date rapes have been fueled by alcohol? My completely uneducated guess, is quite a few. Drugs and alcohol are horrible imo. The solution to the problems that are created by them is, however, NOT prohibition. I think that has been proven without a doubt. -
California's Proposition 19. Legal Weed!! What's everyone think?
doughboyshred replied to Mike420's topic in Speakers Corner
People that regularly use alcohol and other drugs cost society on many levels, therefore endangering our financial well being. That's just one example. Alcohol and other drugs contribute greatly to physical and sexual assaults. Alcohol and other drugs contribute greatly to the spreading of std's through risky sexual behavior. The list goes on. Any drug and alcohol use can be damaging to society. That is why education should be the focus in regards to reducing that usage. -
" ....................................................................... Since all Twin Otter jump planes are more than 20 years old, all it takes is a hint of salt and morning dew to encourage corrosion. That hint of salt may have accumulated during a single flight near salt water. The other factor is that there are several different definitions of "corrosion." For example, the Royal Canadian Air Force refers to metal fatigue as "stress corrosion." If you load/flex any piece of metal enough times, it will suffer intergranular cracks, which eventually cause wings to fall off. That is why deHavilland wrote "life limits" for major structural components like wing spars. Ignoring manufacturers' "life limits" is just as wrong as two boys kissing! so you're saying there's nothing wrong with it? Does your homophobia come naturally, or do you have to work hard to keep yourself in the closet?

California's Proposition 19. Legal Weed!! What's everyone think?
doughboyshred replied to Mike420's topic in Speakers Corner
I support legalization of all drugs, but that argument just doesn't fly. Use of any drug potentially endangers a third party, especially alcohol. If not endangering a third party was the requirement then all drug use would need to be illegal. -
How did you get into skydiving?
doughboyshred replied to sparknote_s's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
jumped the strat tower in vegas and knew that I had to get in to base jumping. I knew skydiving was the path to base jumping, and so here I am. 16 jumps in, and always looking forward to the next. -
Basic Air Concept - Fraudsters or genuine mistake?

I am shocked at your lame post. You really should delete this thread, as you're attempting to slam a legit business over a minor mistake that you should have understood. -
I was in the military, and I couldn't care less if someone was gay. I am secure with my sexuality, and I'm not worried about somebody looking at my dick in the shower. Co-ed showers will become the norm, anyway. http://rokdrop.com/2010/08/24/who-wouldnt-want-co-ed-showers-with-dutch-soldiers/ dadt is a ridiculous policy. Banning gays in the military is even more ridiculous.

California's Proposition 19. Legal Weed!! What's everyone think?
doughboyshred replied to Mike420's topic in Speakers Corner
So a little LSD while he's at a party, the night before he drives that bus with your kids in it is ok . . . well untill that flashback occurs. Versus a couple pills and a shot? Get a grip. I want any one driving a bus full of kids to be completely sober. The legality / illegality of a substance has no effect on this. -
California's Proposition 19. Legal Weed!! What's everyone think?
doughboyshred replied to Mike420's topic in Speakers Corner
Weed is a mental addiction, it is not physical (though nothing about filling your lungs with smoke is good). Twice in my life I went from being an everyday weed smoker to someone who stopped. It's a habit that can be kicked, you just need to take it away and the temptation to do it ceases. IMHO weed should be legalized and regulated the same way tobacco and alcohol are regulated and taxed. Drugs like cocaine on the other hand are a completely different can of worms and I do NOT support legalizing them. So only drugs that you think are o.k. should be legal. Such a hypocritical view point that is shared by so many people. Either the government has the right to control each citizens life down to the minutiae of how they get high, or they don't. Furthermore, just because cocaine is more dangerous than pot (and maybe alcohol) doesn't mean that prohibition of it is any more successful than prohibition of less harmful substances.
