I second that! Sometimes a question turns into the "blind leading the blind" so to speak! Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com

Since your probably not able to get a steering line to do this. Take your shoe lace and twist it in your fingers holding it out straight. After you have twisted it quit a few times, without letting it untwist, bring your fingers together and you'll see the lace twist into a ball that looks similar to a pigs tail. This will shorten your steering line causing your canopy to turn. Ask someone at BAS to show you on a rig sometime. Hope this helps. Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com

Quote about 30 yards shy of the area I would like to be landing in ( the grass ) . Any advice to get me over this tendancy ? *** At only 14 jumps your doing damn good if it's only 30 yards. Dont worry about having to land on the grass. Just have fun, be safe and jump alot! Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com

Quote The packer's view on this was "stow your toggles or we'll f**king hate you!" *** Yah, go figure? These are usually the people that "chose" to make money packing and be able to have a job on the DZ, yet at times all they do is complain? Not a great feeling for a new student to have to go through, but it's something you should get in the habit of anyway. You'll find out what I mean when you have one of your steering lines "pigtail" and possibly have to chop it from the spin you'll be in? Try to keep your parachute in neat order after you land, it will be easier to pack for your next jump. And dont take it as they will hate you forever! It will only be for just as long as they have to pack for you. Be safe. Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com

As SkymonkeyOne said. This is, or should be whats done by ALL Insructors when they have a student, and it's something I always do regardless of how busy I am. Though I have seen reserve side instructors scram to pack after they have talked to the mainside Instructor when doing a 2 JM jump. Where did you hear that they did any different? BAS has good Instructors. I know a few of them. Glad to hear you had a great jump though! Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com

Experience Comments Needed For Insert into Book
bodypilot1 replied to mantebi's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Unfortunatly towerrat may be right as to getting what you looking for on this venue. Many people in here I've found dont have the jump numbers your looking for, but a few do. A better way to find what your looking for may be contacting an organizer such as Kate Cooper, Roger Ponce or someone that has a pool of jumpers on a list with those kinds of jumps? They knows alot of skydivers with those jump numbers and may be able to help? We are going to be in Thailand this Jan and Feb with World Team doing a new large formation world record and I know alot of us will be there with those jump numbers and experience your looking for, so you may want to contact BJ Worth about a list of people you can contact? In the meantime I'll try and ad something to your question. Blue Skies, Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com -
I just wouldnt be right for you to send a card of some other skydiver other than you Dude! Buy the camera mans slot and a have him shoot a roll of film. I'm sure you'll get at least 1 good one to take to Kinko's to make some cards? Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com

Hi Tom Be sure to speak to your Instructor before you go up to get this clear! I will always tell my students to look at the wind direction and have them tell me where thier check point 1 should be. Then I explain that the playground is up wind of that point and to get over that area after they do a control check. So from about 4000ft to 1000ft they have time to get over the "play ground" area and then start thier landing pattern. Learn about whats up wind and whats down wind before you even go up! If your going to be on radio, dont rely on it. If you feel you haven't learned anything about the pattern even after you have worked with your Instuctor, do a TAF and have the Instructor let you fly the pattern without his input unless you need it. This will help you alot in learning a pattern for when you jump with your own parachute. So. This is what I do with all my students and I hope it helps you in some way.

The BEST exercise for skydiving is skydiving! Your body will know and will tell you what areas need the extra muscule and you'll feel some soreness in the areas it's building that muscule. Be sure to eat healthy and rest those areas being sure not to over stress the muscule. And be sure to stretch before jumping! Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com

New Skydiver's Question...About Reserve Chute

After you get the suit, you may find that once a week may not be enough to find yourself comfortable with it, and may want to concider jumping it more than once a week? I have flown with Tall Guy and also assumed his body size to great for slower fall rates. Though he has an S3, his fall rate would be easy for someone in a GTI to stay with. His forward speed maybe abit faster than someone in a GTI, but he definatly will not have to fly "really dirty". So, in my opinion the GTI is the best all around suit for the person that only does 1 jump a week on a wingsuit. Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com

Why did you start skydiving/ BASE jumping?
bodypilot1 replied to lkolkin's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Many people drive the crazy streets and freeways everyday..... I think it should be put maybe, that some people are just too stupid to realize just how much danger they put themselves in everyday in doing so, and "we" just see skydiving and BASE jumping as an everyday thing because we have learned how to make it as safe as humanly possible? I'd much rather jump from a plane, than have to drive everyday with another car coming at me, at a high rate of speed, not knowing if they are drunk, turning the stereo or reading! And to think they will be "safe" with just that little yellow line seperating them! www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com -

Is there a vertical wind tunnel in Sacramento, CA?
bodypilot1 replied to BravestDog's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
No there is not a wind tunnel in Sacramento. There is one coming to the Bay Area this summer though. It's going to open in the San Jose area, but I dont remember exactly where the guy thats building it, told me he was looking to building it? It will be a SkyVenture tunnel, so maybe you can contact them on ther web site at SkyVenture.com to find more info about it I'm sure. Ed -

Life Insurance Consideration for One-Time Jump?
bodypilot1 replied to newinlodi's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
EXTREMELY bad idea They don't have a dropzone in any prison I know of? Work and jump. Then when you have worked enought to pay for all the jumps you've did, maybe you are good enought to jump for a living? But wait! Then you'd be back at work all the time? Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com -
Quote Does this mean these dropzones are illegal, or is membership of such bodies not a legal requirement? *** The FAA is the "governing body" in the USA, that we as skydivers and dropzones have to answer to. Being a Dropzone Group Member of USPA is a "choice" of the DZ. It doesn't make it an illegal DZ if it's NOT a member, nor does it make the DZ anymore "dangerous" just because it's not a USPA Group Member. Feel free to jump at any dropzone that "you" feel is a good DZ and a safe DZ. Be aware of the people you jump with at ANY dropzone, and dont assume that just because it's a USPA DZ that it's jumpers and planes in are always the safest. Here is some thing you can look at to find out more about the USPA Group Membership Program. http://www.uspa.org/membership/group.htm#gmprogram Ed
