You don't have any tunnel time do you.... I did 30 minutes of tunnel coming back from a pause. I restarted at Perris at their L4 (which is typically the L3 release dive elsewhere). I did no work on unstable moves or recovery. I don't see how an AFF student should. So it won't help on exits or recovering from flips, though it sounds like he already has the latter part down nice. He'll get the first part sometime over the next number of exits. The tunnel time will improve his freefall and should increase the comfort level, which indirectly solves a lot of problems. As Brian G has been posting, scared divers tend to be tense, which doesn't help form. It's an investment of 1.5 AFF jumps to work on the skills of L3, 4, 5. *** Let me ask you this. How many AFF students have you Instructed, that have a some sort of problem during their AFF training, and after coming back from the tunnel they BREEZED thought the rest of the AFF course? Hmmm? The tunnel will help him... Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com

I figued as much. I don't think Mark would give the information he did if he wasn't. Good luck on which ever path you choose to stability! Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com

With only 5 jumps, students don't know what licence is what, or what they stand for, yet, in some cases. Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com

I can see since you have been an AFF Instructor for so long, your skill in knowing exactly what a troubled student needs is worth listening to. Shark made a suggestion to the student after evaluating his air skills I"m sure, and I'm sure he didn't just throw the suggestion out for no reason. After all, Shark was a student of mine. At times the tunnel is great for students to gain stability before going into real freefall, therefore making it less stressfull when adding altitude awareness and canopy control. Sorry, but that has to be one of the silliest statements I have ever heard.... Those that aren't happy with the election need to voice opinions in Speakers Corner.

Good point I didn't like people swooping tandems when I did video. If I let them, I always made sure they stayed in my site.

Thats probably the safest. Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com

Not a good idea. When lurking a tandem always leave with them, and stay clear of the drouge throw should the TM let you join them. And if you are not with them, exit the plane BEFORE the them and let the TM give the exit separation needed for safety. If your not exiting with them and you can see the tandem pair clearly, you have probably NOT given enough exit separation. Maybe if you'd like to make her skydive as safe as possible, just be in the plane and jump before her, so she can see you leave the plane with a big smile, and then join her in her excitement as she watches her video safely on the ground?

Which organization are you refering to, FAI or Guiness? You may want to search both of those for your answer? Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com

Another suggestion is to buy the TM your trusting to keep your mother safe, a jump. Do a 2 way with him showing him you are in full control, and have the ability to lurk on the tandem. Be safe Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com

That works great, but the only down side I've found to that is, after your hands start sweating alittle, the tackyness is right back because the leather is totally empregnated with it. Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
