Pretty cool! But I don't see any with fader controls. I am still waiting for a response from Bogen. "The needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few, or the one" - rehmwa

What was your most expensive jump?????
sabr190 replied to Jethers203's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Let's see, long night partying, sunrise load the next a.m., no coffee, somewhat hung over, landed downwind on paved runway in 15kn winds, under a Sabre 190, STUPID!! Jump Suit 300.00 (Came from together in the first 3ft) New Harness for Talon 300.00 (Came from together at the buckles in the next 10ft) New Gloves 30.00 (Came from together as soon as I put my hands down in a futile attempt to decelerate from the previous 18 ft) New FT-40 145.00 (Looked like Godzilla had chewed the face off) All the skin I lost, No Replacement Value All the shit I took over it, Still Paying (This was seven years ago) Learning to never again jump that hung-over, PRICELESS "The needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few, or the one" - rehmwa -

Shit, this may not work for all Sony camcorders. Here is a quote from the spec sheet. • Compatible Sony compatible models include: DSR-250, DCR-PC110, DCR-PC120, DCR-PC101, DCR-VX2000, DCR-TRV950, DSR-PD100, DSR-PD150 and DSR-PDX10 camcorders. The following SONY cameras can also be controlled, but with slightly reduced functions: DCR-VX100E (Backlight and Manual/Auto focus functions not available, limited Photo/Capture function) CCD-TR918 (Manual/Auto focus not available) DCR-TRV530 (Manual/Auto focus not available) DSR-200A - DVCAM (Backlight and Manual/Auto focus functoins not available, limited Photo/Capture function) I e-mailed Bogen to see if they could tell me what other Sony models will work with it and what limitations each model may have. I'll post the response if I get one. I have no idea how to post a link, so go to B & H Photos website and do a search for Manfrotto 522, this should bring up all the models of this gizmo. Okay, I have a TRV-33, and as everyone knows when it is mounted in a D-box you can't use the controls for fade, AE, ect. I was looking around online today and found a few LANC controllers made by Bogen I believe. They advertise that you can use these controllers for zoom, fade, shutter speed, ect. Just wondering if anyone has seen or used one on these style controllers. The one I saw was mounted to a boom and seemed pretty small, other than the boom and you know a skydiver will find a way to take it off the boom Any response appreciated.

What are your feelings for the Coach Program from USPA?

Hey Douva! Show him the "Kung-Foo" video! It could change your rep forever, I'm just not sure if it would be good or bad "The needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few, or the one" - rehmwa -
What are your feelings for the Coach Program from USPA?
sabr190 replied to namdrib's topic in The Bonfire
You may have to fill me in on the "granfathering rules". About six months ago I contacted USPA to see what it would take to get my USPA tandem rating. I was told I would have to get a Coaches rating and then attend a USPA Tandem Instructor Course. That amounts to starting over and more $$ Here is the part that really hacks me off, they had no problem making me a S&TA. Wrong again, I got my Strong rating about a month before the USPA tandem rating came out. USPA told me I would have to take a USPA tandem course to gain that rating, told them to pound sand I am a Strong Tandem Instructor, not a USPA Tandem Instructor "The needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few, or the one" - rehmwa -

Yep, but i won't put out the money to do it again, my understanding is the Coaches rating is a BIC with 2 eval jumps. They can keep it. -

USPA wasted my f**king time, money and travel expenses. Had to travel 400 miles just to take a course on shit I already knew, then they did away with it less than a than year later! Refering to the BIC "The needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few, or the one" - rehmwa -
Tandem Instructor Poll: (Intentional) Flips On Exit
sabr190 replied to slotperfect's topic in Instructors
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I can't speak for the TI you are using as an example here, but with the exception of my eval jumps made from a Twin Otter, all of my tandem jumps have been made from C182's and C206's. I can honestly say that it is easier to make a dive out to the rear with a front flip and barrel roll IMHO. But, if I had a King Air or Caravan to jump from I would choose the poised into the relative wind exit. To each his own, I guess>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> My last 2,000 tandem jumps out of Cessnas have involved diving out to the rear. Most of the time I stick my arms above my head, tuck my feet up my butt. We go vertical for a couple of seconds, then flatten out quickly. By vertical, I mean vertical relative to the horizon, but we are still belly-into-the-wind. Every once in a while a student extends their legs, forcing us into a front loop: a distant second-best technique. I think you are using a poor excuse for not learning how to do a stable exit. Geez..............It's a good thing opinions are free "The needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few, or the one" - rehmwa -

Tandem Instructor Poll: (Intentional) Flips On Exit

I do a nice front flip, followed by a barrel roll to a belly to earth position. Easiest way out of a 182, IMHO. Looks good on the video also. If my student is pretty small, I'll ask 'em if they want to do a couple of front flips out the door, this is good for two maybe three front flips. Hello all, Has anyone found a way to set the fader and effects to remain defaulted to a certain setting when the camera is turned off? Hope this makes sense. Bill "The needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few, or the one" - rehmwa

There is a product called Bulldog Adhesion Promoter that you can find a most automotive paint suppky stores. Spray it on before you paint plastic, rubber, and vinyl, works really great. Not sure it would work for touch up situations. "The needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few, or the one" - rehmwa

I don't see any reason why you couldn't adapt Boneheads cutaway system to pretty much any helmet that uses a chin cup or rear entry. Just my .02

Should I sue/ What do you think?

No! "The needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few, or the one" - rehmwa -
Hmmmm..............been using them for over two years, never had a problem and I don't have to change them out near as often as mil-spec rubber bands. I have only heard of them causing bag locks when they are double stowed or used on the locking stows. To each his own I guess

Serious Question for the Tandem Masters
sabr190 replied to Designer's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
"3. Sliding landing: When the wind is less than 5mph, the day is hot, the student heavy, or the field altitude is hight, a sliding landing is probably the best choice. The student lifts his legs into a sitting position and extends them well out in front prior to touch down. The Tandem Instructor sits back in his harness and is prepared to take the landing on his feet, but continues to sit back after initial ground contact to a slide on his butt with the student literally sitting in his lap. " Not to steal the thread, but I have an additional question. TM's do you also prep the student not to dig their heals in on a slide in landing? I know this is a major cause of injury to tandem students, ankle folds back or TM ends sliding over the top of the ankles? I recently started warning my students of this after seeing another TM slide over a students ankles and breaking one. Just curious "The needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few, or the one" - rehmwa -
Over 1200 jumps and all on an in date rig I will also add, I think a lot of jumpers only think of the reserve repack as just that, but a good rigger inspects your rig for other needed repairs. Hence the term "inspection and repack". Why take the chance of killing yourself and f**king up some pilots career. Just my humble opinion
