I have noticed that most DZ's don't have weights lying around like my home DZ does for us who are really crappy packers that need the weight holding down our rigs because we're so slow. Anyways...I meant to say something about what we picked up while in Houston. This really fantastic device that snaps around your legstraps then grips the carpet like heavy-duty velcro to keep the whole thing from sliding. Of course you have to have carpet, but most places I've packed in *does* have that. Not as heavy as weights, but just as handy! Just wanted to mention it because had we not gone down there I would've never heard of them. I believe someone who jumps/ed there designed them. Family Photos

This was hilarious after the 'ruckus' on here the other day about cats in jars and such. Merrick and I come in the room to see our cat having put HIMSELF into a plastic container. LOL! My son was playing with Lincoln Logs and Ceasar got into the bucket that had been holding them. (see attached) I just found it ironically funny :) Family Photos

Just call me a 'sucker' I guess then. I am never surprised at what some people would do. YOU should know that after what you've probably seen out there. There are some really sick bastards that come up with things that I couldn't even think of, besides do. Okay, Speedy, joke..haha. Being a skydiver and all, ALL things should be funny and I should just lighten up. Okay, whatever. Actually, when I saw it, I didn't realize it was a joke, call me stupid, whatever...I didn't linger on the site after seeing what it was. Knowing that it's bullshit, fine, it's now just a stupid joke and considerably less upsetting. Like I said, nothing would surprise me at what people might actually do for amusement. Having worked at a police dept for 4 years myself dispatching, I've seen worse. Posting a thread about if animals understand humor WAS funny...it was about silly things animals do or you do with them...not stuffing them into a jar. Not even close to the same thing. Anyway, haha, very funny. I'm lightened up and all that crap. Actually, I really don't look at my skydiving as a way to 'positively influence others' or any such 'big picture' sort of thing. Oh thank you guys...I just love you to death! I'm gonna miss you til I can get back down there! *sniffle* I actually DO have a Skydive U tape someone gave me when I was still such a newbie as to not understand most of it :) I will watch it over and over again! The harder part will be finding a good coach, and finding one like Scottie, well that won't happen! Our home DZ is mostly students with the only experienced people teaching them all day, thereby occupied. But we've been kinda checking out some surrounding DZ's too...hopefully I'll find someone willing to work with me a little more. The great guy who helped me get over my toilet-bowl-syndrome spins in my student progression is now off becoming a doctor..imagine that..a skydiver with some real brains! hehe Miss you guys already Tami and Scotty!! Merrick and I both bought our first rigs online, on here actually! You can find some really good deals...take care and ask a lot of questions. I didn't test jump mine first, but I'm sure that could be arranged with a reasonable seller, just pay for the shipping perhaps. We did get the reserve repacked on each of them by our rigger just to 'be sure' and had it fully inspected. Do you know what you want already as far as type of container and canopy? The only suggestion I'd have is that you test jump the type of gear you are looking at buying if you possibly can...borrow it perhaps if you can't get a test jump on the rig you actually are considering purchasing. I kinda wish I'd done that before buying the Triathlon. It's a good canopy and all, it just ended up being a little too large for me and not what I really thought. I got lucky and ended up getting a new rig at a steal from the DZO a month later, then sold the first one, but that could've been avoided if I'd tried out a Tri of that approximate size first.
