Oh no, not implying that. Well, I should say that if it's happening, I personally am not aware of it. What I'm really meaning is that it's hard to find in a lot of areas. This one for instance. I've only had one opportunity to do water training, I signed up, was there, and things didn't work out. I'll never get my B at this rate, and heaven forbid I go to a DZ with actual water around I might land in. I just think that it's not offered as often as it maybe should be or taken as seriously as it could be. I guess I'll probably head to Dallas to get it next spring...otherwise I'll have 500 jumps and an A license :) Closing pin jewelry

I'm just wondering after reading what happened to the skydiver in Ohio drowning, how many of you actually have water training? How many of your DZ's really make an effort to provide that training? I still don't have mine and have nearly 80 jumps. I don't even know when I'll be able to get it either. It's never concerned me too much in OK, but what if we went somewhere else where it were more of an issue?? Just curious..it seems to be an area of training severely lacking..right under canopy courses. Closing pin jewelry

My sympathies and prayers :( As for what to do for the family, I don't know. I've always wondered if the family and friends sometimes hate to even hear the word skydiving or us skydivers in general when things like this happen. Oh hun, it doesn't shock me at all! That town is run by Conoco and I've always felt that Conoco didn't even have a clue who their people are. It's so impersonal...they will do whatever to whomever to get their end results. This is not the first time they've down such things to people, and I've heard of others besides Merrick right now...one guy had been there 20 years and it was out of the blue..just happened to him also. Well, it was me a few months back if you'll remember, but with my salary (8 bucks and hour in these parts...12 back home but OK sucks for pay) it's not nearly as hard to get by without it. But like some of you had said, we really kinda wanted to go somewhere else anyway, so this is our big chance! The only reason we were staying here (we had actually just signed a contract on a new house the day before that luckily we got out of without any penalties) was his job security, or so we thought. His old boss was a huge ass bitch though, so he just might be able to handle working for me now :) hehe Seriously though...he and I are in this together and we'll do whatever is necessary. All beer is good beer. If I were specifying a favorite, I have come to like Fat Tire a lot, but it can't be gotten in Oklahoma...I pick it up if we go to TX or back home to KS then 'import' it :) I get Bud a lot for home because it's cheaper in mass quantities (besides, it's what all us hicks drank back home), actually *do* like Corona, Dos Exis (spelling?) and Fosters. Hmm..I guess I'm just easy. The only beer I've ever drank that I really hated and even didn't finish (passed it to someone else...NEVER pour out a beer!) was something called Flying Dog. My hun Kris loves em tho, so we'd bring them to the DZ on occassion if we were on a beer run for him :) Closing pin jewelry
