  1. Woowee! Quite a debate :) Glad I'm not he only one! I'm telling ya! The guy in front of us yesterday kept letting people in, then the dumbass got out of line and was going to try to move up, but saw the line or something didn't look promising so tried to scoot back in in front of us. I threatened Merrick's life if he let the bastard back in! :) I'm nice, normally...really! 'Nuthin
  2. ROFL! I'm tellin' ya! I went through the first couple days out here riding with Merrick with my eyes closed! It was either that or he was going to kill me :) He even threatened to gag me and tie me up then drive like a bat-outta-hell through traffic as some form of 'treatment'. I'd be jittery for weeks!! LOL! LOL! That's me. I don't know if I even CAN be a cutter! I'd feel bad for the non-cutters like myself. I told Merrick, though, that the first time someone pulls that on me and makes me late picking up the kids after a work day, when I have exactly one hour to get there before they close, I'll..... Shit, I don't know what I'll do. Probably just freak out in the car and wait my turn as usual! lol 'Nuthin

    windblades?

Hey! That gal in Oklahoma is Kris Waldo at Gotcha Covered! She rocks! She's done everything from the blades, to jumpsuits, to tubes to goofy hats :) She's great to work with and fast! 'Nuthin
  4. Okay, it's been a week in 'the city' now (okay, not a BIG city, but it's definately not Ponca!) and I have to say I have a new pet peave. CUTTERS! You know who you are. We all wait in line patiently on the road because of construction or whatever, while YOU fly by us on the open lane that's about to close, the one we're supposed to stay off of right now, then find some dumbass to let you in, thereby screwing the rest of us and getting yourself to your destination more quickly. I swear I'm going to become a vision of road rage if I don't learn that neat little trick! Merrick just laughs at me while I spit and spew and threaten to get out the next time we're sitting there and go rip somebody a new one! Prob'ly not the best idea..lol. 'Nuthin

    Met the Monkey :)

ROFL! Nah, but we'll have to correct that next time eh? 'Nuthin
  6. Good points Bill. And I think all of us who have already made the decision that we love it and are going to continue it (it's now are habit) are more the influencer in this situation. 'Nuthin
  7. I heard something last weekend that I've wondered some about. A person mentioned that they'd tried jumping, and thinking the fear would lessen, continued for a time, but instead it only got worse. This person decided it just wasn't for them. I wonder, now, if perhaps sometimes we push people to continue when we shouldn't...tell them that it'll get better, when maybe it won't? Where is the cut off between, "Okay, it's just NOT getting better." and, "This is just normal newbie fears."? I'd hate to press someone that really is not enjoying themselves to that extent but would feel bad about quitting it because they keep being told that it passes! I know, it's all individual and up to them to decide for themselves, but it would be a lie to say that any of us aren't influenced at least a little by what we're told. 'Nuthin

    being mom

ROFL!! That's so funny! My son asked something about that once...I sent Merrick. There was the whole "adjust yourself so you don't stick and get a rash when it's very hot" conversation too that he got the 'pleasure' of doing :) hehe 'Nuthin
  9. I'm sorry to hear it :( My mom's had it, my mother-in-law and I've even had a lump removed already that was luckily non-cancerous. Let me know if you get anything set up I can contribute to. 'Nuthin
  10. Now that we're settled and back jumping regular...are there any CReW people in this area willing to help a newbie to CReW? 'Nuthin
  11. Hey cool..will be good to see ya again Brit. See Kris? Now you have two reasons to head up this way :) Three if you count Merrick hehe 'Nuthin

    PC In Tow

Thank you guys for the discussion. I've wondered about this since it happened, and actually hadn't thought of the fact that a collapsed pilotchute, even after the pin's pulled out, might not be enough to get the canopy out properly. It really hit home how much more serious everything could have been. It also reconfirmed my own thoughts on most mals. A very smart JM/S&TA once told me that you will take extra seconds trying to remember/figure out for each scenerio and set of circumstances exactly what you planned to do for them...time wasted. Do what you were taught. Three handles. No confusion. Keeps things simple and saves valuable time. 'Nuthin

    Denver??

Good to hear you're doing okay Skycat. Very good. Take care! Sucks that this happened right after you get there! 'Nuthin

  16. Shiner?! Haven't you heard?! He's cheap! Get him that Texas Star crap...he'll be happy :) 'Nuthin

    So Merrick....

Well, we might be back down this weekend for the boogie :) We still want to check out CSS too, but I don't think anything is going on there this weekend, and there IS at Raeford, so... :) You don't want the pooches..trust me! 3 of those suckers! hehe Maybe we'll bring a tent. :) 'Nuthin

    So Merrick....

Yeah :) hehehe I'm fixin' to make that 1st number of 'jumps' 3 instead of 2 :) BTW...it's not so weird kissing your canopy right?? I got very odd looks from the rigger when I told Merrick that's why he had problems with his jump...he didn't treat her right and give her kisses ;) 'Nuthin

    So Merrick....

Yeah. I just hesitate to think what might have happened if we'd pulled at our normal altitudes, 3500-3000, with him having burned between 2000 and 2500 working the problem, even tho he did it quickly. It sure was a bad feeling watching him keep falling. I thought he had a hellacious snivel or something..I could see the pilot chute and him moving about, but I kept telling myself that it just looks lower then it is (which it does to some extent). Scary feeling for sure! Just like a man to not listen when I told him to just let the rigger put on the pilot chute since he was working on our rigs anyway! Dumbasses. 'Nuthin

    Weekend numbers

Getting the hell scared outta you cuz you think your hubby is going in 1: 2 'jumps': 2 jumps: 1 (at least) Best jumping weekend overall in a long time :) 'Nuthin

    Met the Monkey :)

Yeah! What a great day at Raeford yesterday! They DID get my reserve in (Eddie Rocks!!!) and got Merrick all put together and we both got a couple of jumps in! It was fantastic getting back up, and when I say up, I mean UP...not 8-10,000 ft...the whole kaboodle...13,500 on the second load :) Yeehaw! Met Skymonkey, Coconut Monkey and Slotperfect. Skymonkey introduced us to many great people, and everyone was incredibly friendly. Watched some great videos of dives the 'elite' and not-so-elite did during competitions, met the wonderful people at Skycat... Sorry I'm rambling. We have just had a great time and I have to say, the people up here are so friendly and welcoming. A couple of jumps, much beer. *psssttt* Ask Merrick about almost having to get a SECOND reserve pack after only one jump on his new rig. He's in so much trouble with me!! :) 'Nuthin
  23. I'm so glad your friend is okay, and she has someone like you to help watch over her. 'Nuthin
  24. So sweet Lummy, but not necessary :) Just come jump with us if you're out this way! About an hour either way to CSS or Raeford (if I don't get us lost like yesterday to Raeford when we missed the exit...btw, what's with all the chicken feathers when we came into town???? Did a chicken factory explode?!) 'Nuthin
