Will you send you Cypres in for a 4/8 year check
nigel99 replied to bodypilot90's topic in Gear and Rigging
It's funny because the same press release says how units that are sent in for maintenance are brought upto the 'latest' standards and yet it doesn't say that older units have the same relaxed requirement after a service. Most will skip it. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived. -
Sorry for the side bar here but . . . . How do you square that with "God" having a plan for everything? Do you have "free will" or not? https://youtu.be/U6-zi25GgVE Does God know what it's like to snort a line of coke off a hookers Johhny Depps ass? I think you are being over sensitive. There were plenty of George Bush monkey pics in the day. In fact I can't think of many western leaders that haven't been cast in similar ways. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.

It's a rough ride and can take time. I wouldn't blame yourself, until you've experienced it you have no idea how sick some people can be. On the bright side you've learnt how these people operate and being 'love bombed' can be difficult to resist if you don't know the signs first hand. Sadly two close friends of mine also had Pscho partners, one of them has only just had her hair grow back properly and put on enough weight to be 'normal' again after 2 years. The exact labels don't really matter, my ex was labelled a psycopath by the shrink who was counselling me at the time. I'd gone for marriage counselling on my own (cause it was all my fault) and after some debate and advice was told healthier to end the relationship. Best thing I've ever done and 3 years later still healing up. Don't defend your behaviour if the person is psycho as it really makes you look crazy, just swallow your pride and ignore the allegations and bullshit. I'll tell you why some people might be afraid to speak out... (Aside from the obvious fear of physical violence.). He was constantly twisting things around and taking "embarassing" pictures and generally gathering "blackmail" material on me. And threatened to bring these out in the open... He's counting on this to upset me except he is the one with things to hide... And if there is one thing he has not understood about me it's that I have NO SHAME WHATSOEVER!!! I'm a pretty straight arrow but then am the first one to dance nekkid on the table at the office party!!! So whatever might have worked on another girl will only make me laugh!!! Anyhoo he didn't and doesn't get me at all. So he can go ahead and try to make a fool out of me. He will only end up looking like a moron. Besides, he is the one who cares so much about appearances - I am a massive over-sharer so I don't see how he could "humiliate" me... I was married to a psychopath for a long time. He sounds like he has many of the traits. The best thing is go full on no contact - do not answer or respond to any communications, they feed off your emotions and are great at turning you into the crazy person. I'll own "alarmist." All of this chaos is part of the end times prophecy. Don't be too concerned until all the Christians disappear. I mean like in the blink of an eye. This is true. It will be bunches of fun. And it will be extra fun when you are still down here with us heathens. At least your bunker will be all set for the impending race wars or mutated jackrabbit wars or whatever. Do you have your permit? This is what I don't get. You celebrate death of the people you hate and yet can't see that they are the SAME as you in that they celebrate the death of us. I can guarantee you that if a similar post was made that extolled the virtues of bagging 'infidels' or US soldiers you would be outraged and yet you choose not to take the higher ground but to behave in the same manner. It's sickening to be honest. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.

"Have you ever noticed some cowardly bigots will always find a way to voice their beliefs in a way that can't be traced back to them?" -- Anonymous/NotReallyAnonymous I am not afraid to put my name on my words. I saw that quote on FB. I do not trust Muslims. I do not like thugs. Well to be frank any adult with an invisible friend is already of questionable mental health. You know I really get pissed off with closed minded and biggoted people. I've got two young Muslims on my team at work both with PHDs in engineering and one is from Iraq and the other Iran. They were discussing how bad the attacks were and what makes people do something so horrific. It's ironic how similar Western fundamentalists are, it's just they celebrate predator drones hitting the 'towel heads'. Perhaps a little introspection on what your God said to old George Bush when 'he' told him to bring body count and destruction to the Muslims Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.

What part of the pack job do you want to reconstruct? John is right, IMO, the only thing that should come out is the RPC & bridle. Personally, I prefer they do the pull, but in front of me. That allows me to control the environment where the reserve is open and the RPC is out. It also allows me to lift the bridle up and see how the bagged reserve comes out of the container. I'd rather they didn't bring it to me already open (but I won't turn them down because of that). Obviously this doesn't apply to a reserve that was actually used. And yeah, offering it to a "New Guy" is a thoughtful, considerate way to help a newer jumper gain some valuable experience. So why am I not surprised who made the suggestion? I'm quite happy if they want to deploy it. The inspection it's nice to see tricks that people have for stowing the bridle and pilot chute fabric. Not everyone follows the manufacturers instructions and it helps to see the logic of what some people do. Pilot chute fabric in between springs or not etc... Also gauging closing loop length, did it look good and tight at the end of the repack or was it sloppy because it settled in. I used to think this was a great idea, then I started packing reserves :) Now I would prefer people didn't do a practise because I like to 'deconstruct' the previous pack job. Different perspectives I guess and both add value. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.

Yeah... Me, atm..... Nothing I do is good enough. Have been and still am ill too often, they act as if it's my own fault for falling down and breaking my thumb, plus getting Crohn's. Plenty of rumors floating around, talk behind my back... Found an email in a shared mailbox which mentioned me being completely useless: boss messaged me early about a support issue (I used to work support), I tried to figure out the error and asked a programmer a question, got burned for that. Turned out the customer had installed a new server the week before and were tweaking it, she should have known that as she runs support, this support issue clearly lay with the customer not us. But she felt the need to mail around that I was completely useless for trying to help, outside my current department. Remarks like "Do you have to go to the hospital NOW??" Eh,yes... Go to the usual daily meetings? Shouldn't have done that as it was a waste of my time, apparently, or so I was told after 1 1/2weeks of going... Was the only one out of 18 employees who did not receive the yearly 70 euros Christmas gift: "We don't have a Christmas gift for you". My boss was communicating with me using mobile phone, whatsapp and personal email. I was apparently expected to read work email @ home too while sick, got berated for not responding to stuff on my work email, which I didn't read... Lost my yearly personal IT budget of 800 euros this year, refunds for internet @ home and my mobile phone were denied at the last day of January, without notice or explanation. Worked half days almost all of January, got paid if I was 100% sick, not fair and perhaps not legal as it was my regular work. I'm still in the research stages of finding out whether it IS Crohn's or whether it is something similar, so no treatment plan yet and plenty of hospital visits to come. I'm sleeping 12-20 hours a day atm, another 'attack'. However I now need to submit a detailed plan for the coming couple of months which is outside of my expertise (would need courses for a couple of months first) and if I fail I'm out. No way I can win this one... Another colleague left mid December, he has something similar happen to him although to a lesser degree, for being sick too often too. Shame really sorry to hear your story :( Doesn't sound like a good place to be on many levels. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.

I could not agree more. Final update in the whole drama. I took my complaint up the chain, he was disciplined, my actions empowered others to speak up, resulting in him getting demoted and ultimately laid off. I now have his job and the interesting thing is rebuilding a team of 20-30 people who have had their self worth and confidence destroyed. It's about 2 months into the process and going really well. I know these situations don't always have happy endings, but thankfully for our team it is fantastic. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.

Yes, I agree, zerohedge.com credibility is sinking fast. There are many many ships in transit. The article is simply wrong. World economy is in big trouble I believe, but there's plenty of ships at sea. Stupid article, there's much more balanced and real opinion out there. Leonardo DiCaprio Skydiving Double Mal
nigel99 replied to Flyfast's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
This weekend young lady at the checkout sees my Skydiving T-shirt and says wow I would never do that! She goes on to day her aunt did a tandem and had a problem with the parachute, so the instructor unclipped her so that he could fix it and then dived down to catch her and clip back on once he had it sorted I didn't bother correcting her, but I can see how a cutaway could be perceived as that happening! The skiing is a hell of a lot better in Tahoe. Thanks all, it never crossed my mind to look at Skiing/snowboarding! I'm not a Vegas fan so I will look into Tahoe. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.

Hey Can anyone recommend something good in LA for New Years Eve and that weekend? It doesn't have to be skydiving related, although it seems Perris may have a boogie from their website. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.

Why not get the 308 and put an Optimum 143 reserve in? I really don't see the point in tiny reserves! Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.

Couple of nights ago I caught the show "doomsday preppers" on TV. Complete fruitcakes and what I found interesting was that they were all religious (Christian) fundamentalists - on the episode that I watched. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.

Im aware pf the Grelfab mounts and my position is unchanged. G3 is NOT a camera helmet and will not come off easily in the event of a snag. Losing battle squeak. Do you know how many people get helped to setup their G3 camera setup with NO discussion of snags? Full face helmet isn't the right tool for the job Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.

Is ISIS taking credit for terrorism done by others?
nigel99 replied to ryoder's topic in Speakers Corner
I have no solutions to the problem, but I can't help feeling that the west is clueless on the problem. We seem to believe that there are "masterminds" and that removing liberties from us normal people somehow helps. Honestly I think the vast majority of the terrorists are simply unstable extremists who have formed a fucked up view of the world. Sure there are probably people they look up to, but killing or detaining those people is unlikely to dissuade them. I mean Christianity is a whole religion founded on a martyr Yes I believe ISIS are taking credit for the whack-jobs. One thing we can do is to remove ALL breaks for religion in the West - no more tax breaks for churches, don't recognize degrees and religious office as a "respectable" career. A hooker is a more respectable trade than peddling beliefs in imaginary friends! Remove the religious freedoms that enable people to make stupid claims, wear silly clothing etc that are unacceptable in other areas of life. I'm not saying people can't believe what they want, but don't pretend belief in a god is different to belief in the easter bunny. Personally I prefer Vigil. People talk about how the "mandatory" 4 year service makes the Cypres a better option. However with the Vigil they offer an entirely optional service facility that is a fraction of the price and you can choose to do it as often as you like. Vigil are transparent with the problems. Their software versions are public knowledge (displayed on the device) and they don't hide any updates. Cypres tells you the 4 year update is mandatory and that it may include software and hardware updates but with no indication of what is done. The Vigil algorithm is different to the Cypres algorithm. Both have their pro's and con's but unfortunately there simply isn't enough data that I am prepared to say one is better than the other. That said most people given the choice prefer the Cypres philosophy. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.

I asked earlier but got no reply. Whose money are you spending? Yours? Hers? Money for other things? If it's your money why is she annoyed? You addressed the money component, but not the time component. A whuffo spouse/girlfriend wants you to spend some weekend time with THEM, not at the drop zone. Squeak already mentioned they have joint interests. Virtually living at a dz and becoming totally absorbed in the " lifestyle" isn't necessarily a healthy life choice. No problem going out to the dz a couple of days a month. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
