  3. If I was a lawyer I wouldn't be getting advice on dz.com Funny story about when the penny dropped about his record. It was on a trip to the US when the visa waiver for UK was still in place. We both had UK passports but he had a Visa (which always embarrassed him but he did not say why). Anyway I was busy ticking the boxes.. Have you been involved in prostitution Y/N Have you dealt drugs Y/N Do you have a Criminal record Y/N The penny dropped about his visa and I remember thinking shit I really hope he is not a male hooker. Full disclosure eventually came when he went bust. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  4. Thanks it is a bizarre situation, it is not everyday that I do business with crooks (I hope) He is the smoothest talking guy I have ever met. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  5. Interesting dilemma. I did work for a client a few years ago who was a shady character. It turned out that he had a criminal record for fraud. I have recently been contacted by someone who has recently invested in this individual as they are concerned that the story he is telling doesn't quite ring true. I felt really guilty/bad about it but I did mention that the individual has a criminal record for fraud. I feel crap as technically if you have served your time you deserve a 2nd chance (not that I think he learn't his lesson).I suppose I could have just said that a Criminal record check is a wise move when investing and left it at that. 7. I think it is because belief is personal to many people. I seriously doubt that you go correcting the flaws in the argument supporting Father Christmas to kids - it makes them happy and generally hurts no one else. As jakee said, Ron is a professional counselor, and so his beliefs may actually hurt someone else. I would personally want to know that before receiving counselling, and then would look elsewhere. Similar (in my mind) to someone who was convinced they had been abducted by aliens. It may be very "real" to them, but most likely a hallucination of some sort. That is an interesting dilemma. Many counselors are religious (all religions). I am not sure where I stand on that although I suspect to quote the bible "remove the plank in your own eye before...". I don't see that a counselor needs to be perfect before helping damaged people. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.

  9. You haven't answer the question yourself. You've made some vague statement that corrupt governments don't retain their right to keep secrets. But you won't actually describe where it's applicable, with a lot of dancing re: the Pentagon Papers. The fair assessment is that you don't really believe anything should be revealed, or you want the foxes to determine what gets out of the henhouse. I have already stated more than once that I believe any documents or information concerning illegal activities should not be able to be kept secret. I have also stated that i believe the government should be able to keep documnets and information concerning legal and ethical dealings secret if it best serves the interest of the country. Hard to get more specific than that. If you paid attention you would have known that. Now, are you going to state your opinion on the matter or are you going to keep playing your childish "I know you are but what am I" games? By your definition alot of the Wikileaks documents are legitimate leaks. Spying by diplomats is illegal under international law, much of what has been released directly relates to spying. By the way legal and ethical are two different things. Alot of legal activity is unethical. Again some of what has been leaked shows very little ethics on the part of the US government but it is probably legal. 10. OK, let me set the record straight. 16 Mar 81: The Holy Spirit said to me, "Why don't you try Jesus? You've tried everything else.". so, an unidentified voice in your head - next You realise that you (and Jakee) are doing exactly what so many people get upset with Christians and Muslims about? You are trying to evangelise or convert Ron. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  11. Is this the language you mention? (2011 SIM, Section 4, Category A, General Section I, Subsection H, Sub Sub "Partial Malfunctions", item 6) The intent is pretty clear, isn't it? Don't cutaway below 1000 feet? Sure, the wording could be better. But I would not expect this is high on the list of things to fix. So, how is your comment NOT a criticism? Yes that is the sentence. I know that the intent is clear but until generally means "continually". It is not a criticism in that I have the utmost respect for the people who have put together a document that can accurately and concisely convey alot of critical information, very clearly and unambiguously. Doing a good job doesn't stop the odd bit of "funny" language creeping in though. I certainly wouldn't be able to word it better as when you start breaking things down how long do you pull it for? Until the main canopy releases, until the cutaway cables are fully extracted, until your arm is fully extended? If you said before 1000 feet you could get someone waiting for 1001feet and the list goes on... Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  12. In Category D they introduce disconnecting the RSL so I think you are correct. There is however a nice bit of "odd" english where in CAT A they tell you to pull the cutaway until 1000 feet. I know how hard it is to communicate effectively so I am not criticizing. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  13. Just wasting time reading the SIM on a crap weather day and noticed the above in the Category A section of the ISP. I am not sure how common RSL's on student equipment but there is no mention of disconnecting the RSL. Just posting an observation, not looking for advice or input. 15. Brodie Clark, head of Border Force, the part of the UK Border Agency responsible for passport control, said: "There was no breach of security or immigration control. No, no breach . . . just a completed test. The reality is I am not sure if it would even be possible for you to get through with a false passport. I do know someone who got through immigration only to find that he had his wifes passport (not automated). My favourite though is the people who are full of self importance. They get to Heathrow look at the very long queue for non-UK and mention to an official that they shouldn't be with other nationalities because they have an American passport! I've seen 1 or 2 instances of the Brits doing the same in the US. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
