>You sure are arrogent and quick to judge when there is something >negative taking place in the U.S.... Well that message didn't come out rigth. Sorry. I was just trying to point out that vigilantes running around and shooting at bad guys isn't going to stop crime. Anywhere. Law enforcement officers are for that IMO. It wasn't your country I was judging but the idea and the thinking behind it(in the post I responded to). >Let's try and keep this issue within it's original context cause I doubt >very seriously that ANY country or civilization in this world is without flaw... Oh, I'm sure every country has it's flaws, mine too. But again, the idea of stopping crime by arming private citizens and having them shoot at people they judge to be worthy of shooting doesn't feel like a way to make the world a better place. And to actually answer to the original question of the thread: - The perp had it coming, no sympathy for him. Stupidity kills. - The shooter used excessive force, he wasn't in danger. I wouldn't charge him with murder-1 but maybe manslaughter(and the moron wrecked his own car!) - Shooting at a moving target in a public place is highly irresponsible, he should face charges of reckless endangerment or whatchamacallit. Are we on the same page now?

I guess I'm just not geek enough... Does that actually do something? -
>some vigilanty strikes against them will start giving them the idea that >we are all tired of this. I think you've tried this in the US for a couple of hundred years now. How well is it working?

>write me a few scripts in PERL that will hit the database once a day (so >we don't overload the server with senseless stat requests), generate pretty >graphs like this, output them to JPG files and wrap them in HTM Dang. My knowledge in PERL is a bit limited, I only took one course of it in school and that was two years ago. Now in PHP I have quite a bit more experience... -
I get only references to me. No surprise since there are only 6 million Finns, half of them female, my last name isn't too common and my first name is quite rare. Couple of hits to my DZ's website I've been webmastering, one hit on another DZ's discussion board. A couple school related sites, and a couple from my present job. Earlier today I looked up wfaulkner's page to find the beer rules(again), and the second hit sure isn't an ego booster... Erno

Auuughh!! you're killing me! My boss is never going to believe that the Service Directory of the State provincial office of Southern Finland(in swedish) is so funny I have to laugh out loud! They can't fire me they just extended my contract till the end of the year.

Oy! Shuddup! This is an old people's thread for complaining about "those darn kids" and for reminiscing about the "good ol' days". Go away!

So which is which and how do you tell 'em apart?

>you know the one that really gets me? lego. I totally agree. Nowadays you can snap together parts A,B and C and that's it. Building something out of your head just isn't going to be the same >and meccano? anyone else have that? i loved that stuff! I always wanted those but they weren't widely available in Finland. I did get loads of the "technic"-legos though.

>And is it my imagination, or are we getting a shit load more posts like a > thousand a day?.... I don't think I've noticed anything like that... But if that's true, it's the damn americans who spend the whole night PWing about unimportant stuff! Sangiro, I'm sure you have a shitload of statistics about site usage, how about giving some of that out to the public? I'd be interested to see for example -the development of the number of weekly posts -number of users registered and the number of people who actually have posted something -distribution of users according to geographical location -and other stuff Just curious, I've been the semi-official statistics-freak on my DZ... Or are these "business secrets" Erno -
>An old story/myth goes thus... And that's just what it is. All you people, read Snopes; it's fun and fascinating, and you get to feel smarter than the average poster. Erno

>, all joking aside Yeahright, Mwahahahaa! >I'm assuming its not a PC9 in a D-box gaffa taped to the side of the >hull, and operated by a cam eye on the pilot's console. Why the hell not? It sure would fit to NASA's "better, faster, cheaper"-policy. >Picture the scene... >(...) >So what is involved in building a cam that can withstand all that vibration, >and those temperature extremes..... Or is it all done with mirrors.. I'm sure they could come up with a way to hook the camera to the shuttle's electric-system. And I wouldn't use a D-box, I think an aluminum roll-cage bolted to the side of the shuttle would work better... Erno

>Eagerly awaiting your sarcasm Ok here goes: > and just get good at a few disciplines. Get good in a few disciplines?? Whew, I thought you wanted to do something challenging... Seriously, all of the above is good advice; get solid on your belly before freeflying, and pay attention to canopy control too. Erno
