>i would guess its not a local. I mean how the hell would he/she be able >to use/ sell any of the gear if he/she jumps there regularly? Doesn't really matter. There are plenty of visitors on DZs anyway, so I don't think there would be much point in dusting for prints. And... A few years back here in Finland we had a case where, on a small club-based DZ(the only kind we have), money was mysteriously disappearing from the manifest(or was it the snackkbar, can't remember?)-cashregister. They set up a surveillance camera and caught one of the locals red handed. People can be stupid. And untrustworthy. Erno

>which would be cool, lower gravity = longer freefall just don't screw up the spot.. Hmmm. An atmosphere would be nice. Not to breathe, of course, but to control one's movements in freefall. And didn't we just have that Space Odyssey 2001 thingie go by? It must've been a (US)government coverup since I haven't heard of any ships going to Jupiter. Erno

What are some of the dumbest things you have done with Fireworks?
ernokaikkonen replied to Viking's topic in The Bonfire
It's not dumb if no-one got hurt... So nothing! -Just a couple of months ago at the DZ we did the already mentioned CO2/gunpowder combo. In the middle of the night. Luckily we're right next to an army training area, so loud explosions in the middle of the night aren't that uncommon... -Firing starburst-rockets horizontally is always great fun. -
>i tried adobe 6.0 and the >mov file wont import to the edit board! No matter what program you're using, you need to have Apple's Quicktime installed. All the other programs use the bits that are installed with Quicktime. I have zero experience with digital video-editing, but when I tried to figure out a way of watching mov.s on my work computer without installing Quicktime, I couldn't find one. It's a free DL from Apple's site. Erno

>The Discworld series rocks, and its where teh name Nacmavfeegle >comes from..... Yeah, I noticed... I just read the finnish version of "Guards, guards!", and while checking the 'Net for a list of all of Pratchett's books(and there were more than I expected!) I stumbled upon the "smurfs with an attitude". I guess I'll be reading "Carpe Jugulum" next.

I've only been at work for two hours and I'm already posting stuff like this...

>just wanted some input on Turbo ZX's openings. I recently purchased >a ZX 165 and my exit weight is about 200-205, which puts the wing >loading at approx 1.3 ratio. I find the openings to be way too soft and >I do not roll the canopy. WTF? I jump a TurboZX 145, loaded just about the same, and my openings are always brisk, and sometimes I get slammed! Actually increasingly so. I've now jumped 200-300 jumps with it, and I'm assuming it's getting out of trim; hence the harder openings. So, just jump it a couple of hundred times and it'll open harder... Erno

This of course is totally fictional, but have you read Terry Pratchett's books? If you liked Douglas Adams, these should go well too. Erno

>Oh geeze. Look at any of the Mission Impossible episodes from the '60s.

Ask the packers how they do it. Some(most?) wont be able to tell you, not because they don't want to, but because they don't know how they do it! So find someone who does, and learn the tricks on how to slip the MF into the bag. I'd tell you my technique, but it would be next to impossible over the Net, I'd really have to show it to you in person... Erno

The strangest things can pop in one's head... When did ventilation ducts "premier" in movies? I mean the big ones, suitable for a hero to crawl to safety/to kick bad guys asses. I would think very few places(IRL) actually have ducts that big, so it has to be a Hollywood thing, right? (Well actually there was this one incident here where a burglar tried to enter a supermarket via the vents in the roof. He got as far as the first corner before he got stuck. He was rescued by the fire brigade... So it didn't work IRL...) Off the top of my head I remember the first Die Hard(1988), which showed extensive use of the ducts by Mr. McClane. Anyone remember an earlier film with similar scenes? Erno

>dude the origanal AvsP scared the shit out of me!!!! the atmospere >in that game is unmatched!!! Absolutely! Reminded me of a story a friend told me: Pitcture this: The dude has been playing AvP for a few hours in a pitch black room. He always plays with headphones on, so he's pretty much immersed in the game. Then, suddenly, something brushes agains his leg(in real life!). The reaction: The guy jumps up from his chair screaming, his heart having skipped a few beats, and his dog is scurrying out of the room wondering "what did I do now?" Erno

>Have the cops done there thing (dust for prints and the like?) What's the point if it was a jumper who was supposed to be there anyway?

>speaking of having poor taste > Where's the caption?? It's not funny without the caption.

Man dies after playing computer games non-stop

http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2002/10/10/1034061260831.html Would this apply to post-whoring too? Should we be more careful? Maybe an intervention would be in order in some of the more extreme cases? -
I believe it's "Get a haircut and get a real job!"

Unless you're talking about The Belly(which was nice!), then yeah I missed it.

Don't peek at the picture until you read the joke.

Ah, a true classic... SFW! -
I'm sorry, it's just that The Picture was really bad. I didn't have to see that. Have you posted something equally...interesting?

Actually, looking at the timestamps, 53 minutes(and 12 posts). I've seen attachments here that have caused permanent damage to my retinas. (Hi Skymama!) Erno

I waited this long until I opened the attachments. I'm still not sure what to think. Especially about the second one.

> I saw it in an add and it reminded me of sex. Really? I'm a bit surprised. Are you feeling like yourself? Actually we already giggled at these terms with my friends in the '80s when Summer Games was a big hit on Commodore 64... Erno

Where do I get a parachute for $75?? Oh yeah, the rainbow-colored one on eBay that FarmerMcNasty is selling.
