Javelin x Vector 3. Which one is more safety ?
mchamp replied to Gerardo69's topic in Gear and Rigging
Wise choice, exactly what I did! Lol picked it up during the skydive expo. Also can someone elaborate the difference between C23b and C23d? Are they just more strict regulations in order receive the c23d sort of a higher requirement of safety? I'm assuming UPT chooses not to get the 23d because of the additional cost?? Nonetheless I will always believe in my V3 to save my life lol For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp -
It's not just you and being in Austrailia, but I'm beginning to think that it is the company itself. I called for a potential crossfire demo and also asked about info regarding the Neos. Let me just say that I called twice 2 hrs apart during office hours and rang until I got voicemail both times. I finally called the 3rd time and finally reached someone. As I was asking about demoing a crossfire I began asking about the Neos regarding the pack volume "the rep clearly stated he had no clue and put me on hold for another 5min or so" after that I was inquiring the flight characteristics further more than what the website states and again he had to put me on hold and transfer me to a rigger there. I am just so intrigued as to how people within the company do not know their own product that they represent? Just contacted the company and apparently the Neo 94 packs similar to that of a crossfire 109 and apparently has better openings. So to answer everyone's questions they pack slightly larger 2 sizes. One thing that baffles me is since I refer to the UPT website for sizing frequently (since i have a V3) is that for certain containers they have the neos sizing spot on, but others are slightly off? I suppose it's due to the shape of the rig as they fill/distribute fabric differently? Couple months have passed did you end up demoing/purchasing the Neos? If so what is your opinion on how it packs compared to a katana or x-fire? For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp

mchamp replied to Scrumpot's topic in Instructors
I remember hearing a story where the instructor had 4 aff students in the air. While he was looking for the students he saw that one of them had a lineover. Went to the radio and said "You with the line over, cut away". Next thing he sees 1st student cuts away....chink 2nd student follows as well as the 3rd and finally 4th....chink chink chink...... Just be sure to let others know on your load that you pull at 5k otherwise it could potentially cause some problems For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp

I could see why some dz's wouldn't accept neptunes due to the fact that someone could easily just borrow a friends. Regarding an iPhone app logbook it actually has to be your phone (that is of course you don't borrow someone else's iPhone lol) and who doesn't always carry their cell with them? Couldn't someone use the same method if he/she wanted to borrow else's logbook? It's the same principle. Not too long ago I was talking to Jessica from the PD team and she had actually encountered the same problem and didn't bring her logbook to a certain DZ and thus presented her Neptune. The manifest girl was relatively new and didn't know of her nor did she accept the Neptune. Eventually she had to find someone to vouch for her..... Lol For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp

Do you know if your dropzone would be willing to accept an iphone app logbook to view your jumps and verify your numbers if you are traveling to different DZ's or would they only take traditional paperback logbooks? I loathe writing and also have horrendous penmenship, I however don't mind typing......lol Technically speaking its more accurate since it gives more detail info regarding freefall time, jump dates, jumps and has location for signatures as well. If suppose it's a jump later on through the course and it is that time to release. A 120kg jumper becomes unsteady and begins to potato chip do u dare give them the arch signal? For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp

Most likely didn't have his pilot chute completely secure with perhaps too much exposed. Another is perhaps his closing loop is too loose and/or spandex for holding his pilot chute might not be tight enough For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp

Quoteunderstand totally about not skiping sizes. i am going to demo some more canopies this weekend but in anyones opinion wat would be a good next step in the progression to xbraced one day?[/reply If you are currently on a spectre I'd say next step perhaps might be a sabre2 after that katana and then finally x braced such as the velo or xaos. Also your question regarding canopies retaining their value it's generally goes for $1 off for each jump you do on it unless there is some damage to it For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp

As much information that you would like to find out here on dz your best bet would be to contact your instructors at your home dz and receive the best info from them since they know your skill level and exit weight. Downsizing really depends on your skill level and how you are able to fly/control your canopy along with your landings etc etc. Also really depends on how much you are loading your canopy at (canopy sq ft divided by exit weight). Talk to your instructors around your dz and simply just soak up the valuable information that they give ya. Hope this helps ya a bit, cheers and blue skies! What's interesting is that the canopy that I currently jump (sabre2 120) loaded at just under 1.2 ...yes I am a lightweight don't hate... is considered to be within the "expert" category. I am definitely no expert canopy pilot but with 240 jumps within the last year, couple canopy courses, and zero ass landings since off student status, I feel comfortable under this wing. What I don't understand is that if I were to jump a katana 107 or a velo 111 I'd be within the "advanced" category.....weird huh? Anyone have any explanations or any insight? For the record I'm not downsizing to a katana or velo anytime soon For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp

If you go to UPT on facebook under options there are photos of dive blocks on risers which might help you explain. I would be careful if your rigger does not know about dive blocks for front risers perhaps you could find a rigger who knows about them. Good luck with your mods! All the rigs that you have mentioned you pretty much can't go wrong with as long as they fit well wig your body as likestojump stated. You should also consider other rigs such as Vector's or mirage's. It really comes down to what kind of options you are looking for and how comfortable the rig is for you.. Good luck and let us know what you end up choosing! For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp

I've done quite a few Hop n Pops with my Altitrack and if it doesn't get enough freefall time it actually doesn't record the jump Getting back to your original question....haven't done a balloon jump with it yet.....I'll let you know in 2 weeks though Although I'm sure you're question will be answered by then It has however worked flawlessly doing a heli jump! If it's not controllable, and landable at 1,500ft it's gone for me as well. Did a Skyhook demo chopped at 1,900 and was opened around 1,750ft I have a Skyhook and use a Vigil II pro setting Usually pull around 3.5k ish For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp

Personally I believe its a marketing gimmick trying to get more attention from the general public to induce more sales of movies and such. I have heard from quite a few friends that they are indeed quite interested within the technology, but then again they are not really "tech geeks" as I am The only 3D thing that I am interested in is the 3D flight movie as it seems as if they are trying to do it "right" and of course its a skydiving/BASE jumping video of course I'm going to be all hyped up about it!! Here is a link to a recent study regarding 3D applies only within the U.S I believe. Not quite too sure if Europe feels the same way http://gizmodo.com/5635518/study-consumers-less-interested-in-3d-tv-after-experiencing-it-firsthand For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp

Oh yea absolutely definitely planning on demoing them when I'm ready for it later on down the line Actually just asking these questions out of pure curiosity at the moment, don't plan to go x braced anytime soon. Just wondering why people prefer a certain x-braced canopy to the others For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp

Did you choose the JVX because you felt it performed better to your liking and gave you better results in terms of speed and distance compared to that of other manufacturers? For info regarding lift ticket prices all around the world check out http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp
