Wrigley Field is still Wrigley Field. It's kind of fun--I work with the Prints & Photographs collection at the Chicago Historical Society, and I frequently see pictures from when it was still called Weegham Field, and it hasn't really changed all that much! If anyone is curious, there are tons of pictures from our Chicago Daily News collection from 1902-1933 that you can browse. http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/ndlpcoop/ichihtml/cdnhome.html U.S. Cellular Field, formerly known as Comiskey Park (yes, to true Chicagoans, it will ALWAYS be known Comiskey), formerly known as South Side Park is a great stadium, but it just doesn't have that old "take me out to the ball game" feel like Wrigley Field does. U.S. Cellular is just like any other fancy shmancy corporate stadium. Last week AndyMan and I blew off work and went to a Cubs game with his bosses, and we sat in the right field bleachers. That was a blast! The best line that we heard shouted out was "Your mama's a foul ball...BITCH!" Wrigley Field bleacher culture definitely has a certain camaraderie going on--even with the visiting team. Lastly, I think the new Soldier Field (formerly Grant Park Stadium) looks horrendous. I refer to it as the big toilet bowl. Or a spaceship that decided to land in what used to be Soldier Field. Such a monstrously ugly thing...AND it has LESS SEATS than the old stadium!!! -P __ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)

I think it's just that you Canadians have a superiority complex. I've always loved Chicago, and I've visited several other big cities in the US and around the world. Chicago has tons to offer in all areas (food, arts, culture, etc), but you have to seek it out. I would think that it's just like any other big city--if you go somewhere as a tourist, you're only going to see the touristy things. If you go there as a tourist and you get a Chicagoan to show you around, you'll get to see "Wild Chicago." I am not a native Chicagoan, but I've adopted it as my home having lived in the city and the greater Chicagoland area for 8 years. Having grown up in Knoxville, TN, just visiting any big city makes me happy! But yeah, like other people have said, it's difficult to find a big city that you could call home, and I'm proud to call it my home even though it isn't the "best place on earth" (the best city I've ever been to is London). That said, though...I'd really like to give living in Toronto a shot. So, AndyMan, when are we moving? (On a side note...it seems to me that native Chicagoans NEVER leave. They may have traveled extensively, but they always come back here. There has to be a reason for that, don't cha think?) -P __ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)

From her emails, I believe she's teaching in Damyang and living in Gwangju... I dunno, it's all Korean to me! (I know that all us slanty-eyed orientals look alike, but I ain't like the rest of 'em!) -P __ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)

One of my good friends is in Korea teaching English on a Fulbright Scholarship. For my birthday, she sent me some erasers printed with scenes from this Flash animation... Let's just say that the Everything To Do With Love show was...beneficial! : 3 : 1 3 coach jumps--had an awesome running exit out of the CASA on my third jump. I was supposed to chase my coach around the sky, but I discovered that REALLY need to work on my forward movement and tracking. I can play the fall rate game really well, though! 1 case of beer (PAID) for landing in the runway. After I gathered up my canopy and ran behind an otter mock-up, I found the DZOs wife waiting behind there, half-naked! Apparently she and a friend were doing a lingerie observer ride with the "really hot CASA pilots." As she was explaining this to me, half-naked, she stowed my toggles for me. She rules! -P __ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)

Another interesting thing about the "Everything To Do With Love" trade show is that the presenting company is based in Canada, and in the Great White North, the show is known as "Everything To Do With Sex"! Damn those liberal commie pinko Canadians without a sexually repressed culture! -P __ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)

Speaking of Babelfish translations, here's the introductory "blurb" for the German forum... "In Springer and interested with English the little on war foot stands. In addition, want for those itself gladly over the German parachute scene maintained. Thus everyone is to be taken part cordially invited here." Das ist ehrfürchtig! -P __ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)

I normally don't watch the "reality" shows, but Queer Eye for the Straight Guy is one of the few that I watch. I wouldn't really place it into the realm of reality shows, though--it fits in with all the other "redesigning" shows, whether it be someone's home, someone's wardrobe or both. It's more about the makeover than the drama. The five guys on QE are highly entertaining, and they really do have a lot of style and good tips for everybody. AndyMan and I watch the show, and we especially like the Food & Wine Connoisseur, the Design Doctor and the Grooming Guru. Andy already had (and still has) a lot of style, culture and awesome cooking skills before I met him, so he doesn't really need the help. The show is just an affirmation of what he's already done right! No wonder I fell for him so hard. I'm one lucky girl! __ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)

The only thing that I've heard about darker beers being "healthier" is the fact that they have more flavonoids than lighter beers. Apparently the same is true for red wine. Never quite understood the explanation, but flavonoids help in fighting heart disease. Do a google search on "beer wine flavonoids." Here's an interesting site that I found... http://www.beerandhealth.com/index_eng.jsp?Page=actueel&Doc=actueel -P __ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)

My ex-bf wrote this article on eFitness.com. I found it to be quite hilarious mainly because what armchair quarterback is actually going to do these exercises when they're busy chowing on pizza, wings, brats, burgers, chips, beer, etc...?! http://www.efitness.com/news/article.cfm?article_id=8198 -P __ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)

:2:1 Did Levels 6 and 7 today--I'm finally off AFF! The middle number might turn into 3 if my inner ear stops hurting AND I can find an available coach... Case of beer owed for finally completing my AFF levels. Since I'm not officially off student status, I bought half a case of beer. -P __ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)
