From what I can tell, he always has a great time when he jumps at Vandalia. He has two 20x24 photographs of himself in a six-way over Archway. Kinda cool.

You must be kidding, right? My BF jumps at Archway occasionally, and there are lots of people on dz.com from Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, etc. Try searching the DZ.com Skydiver Database to find fellow midwesterners. AndyMan and I jump at Chicagoland Skydiving. Pay us a visit when the season begins again in March!

It's not about blacking out, but I'm sure it has happened before. Hypoxia, anyone? Anyway, when I made my first tandem jump, I was experiencing some MAJOR sensory overload when we exited. I was looking down the whole time, and I realised about 5 seconds into freefall that I was holding my breath. I literally had to tell myself to breathe. Yeah, relax and smile. When you're in freefall, remember to breathe...very important. Try to keep your mouth closed (but still have a toothy grin) because that 120 mph wind during freefall can dry your throat out very quickly. Also, be sure to eat the day of your jump. I made the mistake of not eating much before my second tandem jump, and I felt really weak and sick on the canopy ride down. When my tandem master and I landed, I just sort of collapsed and lay in the grass for a few minutes. So, yeah -- it's really noisy, really windy, like you're floating on a cushion of air, and a heck of a lot of fun. One of my favorite bands... Yay! I'm so glad that somebody else on here knows about them! They're a bit obscure these days, but I suppose they always were...hmm. (I'm going to draw attention away from the love-fest between me and AndyMan for just a moment... ) I used to be a complete freak about XTC (posting on the digest, buying all the albums, collector's editions, box sets, etc.), but I've toned it down quite a bit since the time I actually met Andy Partridge. He's a bit of an egomaniac, which disappointed me, but I guess that shouldn't have been a surprise after reading the biographies about the band. Also, they've started merchandising the collectibles in a big way, which is so un-XTC. Half of the fun was doing tape trades and such. Still love the songs and especially love Andy's lyrics -- he's quite the wordsmith, with or without music. And I still pick up the odd collector's item or two, but I'd rather save the money for jumps! And now back to the love-fest between me and AndyMan...
