That sure looks like Christy on the right! Yep, and where were you? Kallend, I have yet to image you, and you definitaly deserve it!

Yeah, I've never understood what the difference is, or if there is no difference, just different terminology, or what. It's a percentage of alcohol on the breath or blood. .005 or less is driving under the influence and more than that is driving while intoxicated. Intoxicated is usually the cutoff for the felony (in Cali the ability to spend more than a year in prison)

Lori, I got your voicemail and I'm so sorry (ask Diverdriver) I had to leave before the serious party or the actual awards. I looked for you and Amy, but I think you were debriefing. I got home about 2 AM, put in and escrow at 9 and did three tandems between noon and three because one of my managers (DZ) had to go down to canopy. Well done, Perris. Truly exceptional! JP

PERRIS photo gallary back up and running...
Deuce replied to lewmonst's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Mary-Berry, the team at Perris did a totally spectacular job. It was, no-shit, like the ops on an aircraft carrier. Amazingly efficient and apparently effortless, unless you had any clue as to how hard it is to run four Otters hot, for 12 hours plus. Just freaking astounding. The Conaster family (probably an SP) are way out on this one. A great job, and the sport owes them. That team does great work, and has set the bar for Arizona next year. Can't wait. Who needs a camera flier? -
Yeah, we have a problem with that. Old age and treachery beats youth and endurance every time.

I love Nationals. It brings out the best and worst of skydiving. I've been lucky and mean enough to always come out on the best side. My team this year, Vortex, exemplified what competing at nationals is all about. The point goal for the meet, and doing the team best. They did. I was there. Huge fun. There are very few teams in NorCal that need a competetive level camera flier, so the last two years I have been privelidged to fly mercenary for visiting teams. I was blessed last year by the misfortune of the Foxes, and this year by the misfortune of the Vortex team. Such fun. I hope next year in AZ is as great. With Betsy running the show I'd bet even money it will be.

Observations of a Nationals Video Controller

Paul, that setup you came up with was flawless as far as I could tell. It was nice to finally meet Jan in the flesh. What a nice lady. Anyhow, I thought it was cool that you had the camera fliers dubbing down in front of the judging screens. Nice to remind people, or maybe show them for the first time, what the camera end of the competition is all about. Kudos. JP Oh, and I'm sure all the advice here is already in your FAQ. I remember asking you all those questions a couple years ago. Your advice hasn't failed me yet. -

NorCal makes up for SoCal's taciturnitude. http://www.skydiveperris.com/pictures/2005_0905/IMG_3607.JPG Hey, he's one of those cutting-edge swoopers who's going to be doing their thing at 5 grand instead of 2 grand (or sea level for the Byron peeps) 'course he looks serious. All y'all be careful up there, ya hear! -
OK, Ms.Santangelo, I owe you a blowjob. Icarus, it really depends on the market. If it is a hard-core seller's market, it's honestly pretty easy to do a "FISBO" (for sale by owner). Go for it! What typically happens is that pricing and market analysis is the challenge for sellers, and Realtors can help with that. Out here, in Cali, prices are inflated and people aren't considering their equity on investment, but what they greedily assume they can get. "If doofus' house sold for $650,000, mine must be worth $700,000!". This doesn't take into consideration the fact that doofus might have lied about what he sold his house for, or what comps he offered. There are, like in any profession, crappy realtors out there. INTERVIEW THEM! You are hiring somebody for money! BIG money. A good realtor can make you money, and a bad realtor who lets you think your house is the high price point for your market can cost you big. I spent a whole lot of my time in life as a government beareaucrat trying to help people within the system. I am having a great time now guiding people through the escrow process and making money buying and selling real estate. For me and my clients. Interview some agents about marketing and pricing. You don't have to hire them. A good one, like me, will convince you, truthfully, that they can make you more money, even paying a commission. (Thanks Mary) PS: I am a badass, no-busted-points-at-Nationals camera flier. Hear me roar.

How 'bout chu? -
Well COOL! Congrats B-Squared! You going to still be around tomorrow night? I should be getting in between 5 and 7 PM. Good work!

Depends. I have a REALLY BIG solar array. I just pay to pump the hot water off my roof, not to heat it. Electricity in Cali is horribly expensive. To add a natural gas heater into the mix can be prohibitive. With the pool pump running solar heat, and the AC keeping thing about 78, I pay $300 a month, and I have it averaged out. If you manipulate your own chemistry, and it's not easy, at about $50 a month you are running the pool, busy. If you cover it, and stall the chemistry during the winter, you can save some money. You don't want to drain a pool though, cause they can pop up out of the ground without the weight of water in them, and they can deteriorate due to oxygen exposure just as much as water exposure.

Um. 19 grand ain't going to buy you much swimming pool. Period. Just resurfacing mine with pebble-tec is going to cost 8 grand+. Pools are a maintenance item like a boat. It's not enough to be able to afford to buy one, you have to have the money to maintain one as well. Think about that. Most "lifetime" warranties are for as long as you own the home. And with that being less than 5 years, the pool manufacturers gamble.

Skymonkey: Chuck Blue has partied with you, likes you, and hats you. That, my dear, is as good as it gets. Now, getting a Monkey Name is even more of an occasion. HotMamaMonkey comes to mind.

Argh. With my luck it will be me hammering into a former Golden Knight. I'm hoping to hang out. With the Q-dog doing all the multi-media, I'm hoping to stay through the party. After today, I think my clients will be ok with it.

Bah. I get those kind of stickers in my socks every weekend. I want a superhellacoolio "Approved Camera Flier through 2006" British BTFU Parachute Approved Camera Flier Guild reflective stickers! That just sounds cool! Vortex: "JP, we're interested in you as our camera flier, but can we please see if your stickers are in-date?"
-
You guys get stickers? I want stickers!

I'd advise you not to do it. I have a beautiful in ground lap pool with a motorized retractable cover and the amount of maintenance it requires, even with the cover is a hassle. I'm having the plaster re-done (it wears out, just like a liner) as we speak (type?). We used it a lot for the first 10 years, but not so much any more. A suggestion? The endless lap pools. It's like a great big spa that generates current for you to swim against. As a Realtor, pools are often deal breakers. People who don't want them REALLY don't want them, and people who do can put them in themselves. The endless lap pool is something you can take with you when you move, or add to the deal. http://www.endlesspools.com/landingpages/searchlandingsp.html

punk....not gona stay and drink with me a few days??? Bitch, I'll be there Sat night through the end of comp. If we get done Tues, then I gotta get home. We were joking in the office about how the best way for a Realtor to get business is to schedule some time out of town. Oh, and I'll be riding my fuel efficient catalytic converter equipped very low emmission motorcycle to and from the event.

It's your subconscious telling you what a great friend you are. A good friend will bail you out of jail, a GREAT friend will be sitting beside you in jail saying "That was COOL!"

Replace that left hand mirror right away, Lisa! I think there's a Cycle Gear near you that has matching replacement pairs, cheap. Not having that mirror is really asking for trouble. And congrats! I'll be riding my scooter down to Perris on Saturday, very cool!
