OK, dweeb, I just notarized a statement and mailed it to you. You're still in Vegas, right? I'd tell you to sue me, but you've got to take a number first and the line forms to the right. So there.

Yes, both times. I have this giant whackadelic government seal thingie that says I'm telling the truth that I use on contracts, you want I should write that down and then push the button that makes it go WHACK! on the paper putting the "trust me I'm from the government" embossed gee-whiz OK I believe you stamp on it? Cause I'll do it!

I organized the one with Pabs, it was a six way, slot-perfect out the door of the Otter at the Holiday Boogie. We tied it out of the Van at the American Boogie, I had camera on that one. It's on the American Boogie link below. The American Boogie one should be the record. It has two pretty girls in it, Cora and Andrea. I move that all DZ.records must be coed. No guy or girl or one-dropzone, or like that. Do I have a second?

Bytch'll be in Byron on Saturday. It's scheduled to be 104F . Come out and watch me hustle tandems in the morning and take Bytch out on a hybrid sunset load. Not out like in "out to dinner" out like in "Damn, I'm glad I got a full-face"

It did occur to me that you might have fell in a hole, but then I remembered you went to Minnesota. My favorite cousin moved there and loves it. Welcome back. I'm glad you had such a nice trip.

No worries. That was on the table, but the customer was happy with the deal they took.

No. TG sits on Anvils shoulders and Anvil runs around. TG bitches about wanting spotters, but Anvil just takes of running. I think Anvil is an alien from a planet that has much higher gravity.

No, the broken layer of "hayse" below us provided very nice bounce lighting Josh Dude, you are awesome. Since you can't bring a big white board along, you just ordered up an atmospheric condition!
-
Noice! Josh. Very. Fill flash?

Glad to hear you're better Jason, Tim should patent that shoulder brace of his, Freeflyz needs one too. As for the site, click on the red thing below that says American Boogie pics are up. I don't have the freefly pics of you up yet, though. Maybe tonight. Heal up!

What a great time! Thanks!

That looks like it might be one of those places that takes everything else out of the box and tries to sell it to you. Still, with a lens, it's gonna be over 2 grand, and that extra grand can buy a lot of skydives for somebody on a tight budget. There's a couple on my DZ, and they are doing OK. The 10D pictures with the Canon lens are very noticeably better, though. But if there's no 10D around, they absolutely rock!

Neat. One of our Tandem Masters, Vic, was in the Coast Guard in Hawaii. He told his C.O. he'd re-up if he'd do a tandem with him. So he hooks his C.O. up, takes the oath and goes out the door with him. That's neat too.

Speaking of the 10D, who has it top-mounted or front-mounted?
Deuce replied to lewmonst's topic in Photography and Video
Both JP Furnari (diablopilot) and Peter Galli (BlazeTailMan) have FT Pro's and front mount the 10D on an L bracket. I think they both have that Sigma 15. Galli still has the lens cap for his. -
Thanks, gentlemen. It sounds like this: "Honey, I gotta get a slower RW suit with my camera money this month. Yes, I'll deposit all of it next month...." Thanks again. JP

DiabloPilot uses one, very nice, a little fisheye-ish up close. I've got the 20mm Canon lens and I love it. All the stuff except the swoopers was shot with it at the American Boogie and everywhere else. For the ground stuff I used my 28-200 Canon. That lens cover on the Sigma is necessary until right until you get out, and that lens optic really seems vulnerable cause it sticks way out there. Plus, I've seen that lens cap exit the plane solo, and it's pretty big, like a little teacup. But because of that 1.6 multiplier, the 15 is really attractive, cause it's effectively a 24 on the camera.

Hey, I'm only hypothetically changing hypothetical drop zones! Great thread! Got me and some other folks thinking. I liked Jan's article too, it's got me wondering how I can have managed to be both cool and an outcast at the same time Edit: I meant to express how it is difficult to take somebody down a peg or two in one's own estimation. Kind of like the trauma I would suffer if you got a Velocity 79 and took up multi-camera pond swooping on ecstasy.

Well, you live in Giant Turbine land. Yeah, it's pretty easy to get by somebody in an Otter door. So, we get back to that deal of having to readjust your worldview of Joe, and you have to take him down a few pegs, and maybe he's not really awesome but lucky. And lucky not to have hurt anybody else. As a KingAir camera guy I'm usually sitting in the door. However, if we've got somebody stuck in it, there's no way around them, like there probably would be in the Van, an Otter, or a Casa. It's an interesting scenario question. It reminds me of the stuff we'd come up with to find out when a police applicant would choose to shoot. The correct answer in this case may not be a specific set of facts, but the intersection of the arc of danger and the arc of peer pressure. When Joe is endangering others, at that point I would take action. Up to that point I would just watch and learn. As soon as I was ready to fight over the issue, I'd speak up, very, very nicely. Usually that would resolve the issue, but if it didn't I'd already made up my mind that it was something I was willing to lay hands on over. Gosh, I've had a ton of police flash-back stuff lately. That's one of those "Don't draw your pistol unless you're ready to shoot" things. It sounds like it might be one of those "Huh, I love it here, but I need to find me a new home DZ" things. It is a matter of danger, or a matter of principle? Edit: I read Jan's article and I'm happy to say that the coolest people on my DZ are safety people. They empowered me to hold up a Roger Ponce load to do a full gear check on a student who ran out to board the Van without her chest strap fastened. Folks like Keith Wyatt, Tim Mattsen (Sorry about the spelling Tim) Chris DeBar "Check your shit yo!", Evan Mortimore, Vic and Connie Krusi. And more. A Skygod with the kind of "cool" in Jan's article can undo an awful lot of good. Having made my mind up that it was something worth changing DZ's over, I'd ask the Skygod if he knew he was demonstrating poor practices that new jumpers would emulate. If he didn't care, I'd pack up and leave.

Due to an weird assortment of life experiences, I generally don't take any action on stuff I don't think is worth fistfighting over, for just that reason. Like I said in my first post, when things get hot, you have to back down or finish what you started. Like Hookitt said, that can mean instant de-friendshipping, and that's awful. Q, I'd ask if he knew his seatbelt was on, if he said yes, I'd ask him to please remove it, if he said no, then I order him to remove it, and if he said no again I'd either close the door or use force on him, whatever was easier. There's two things here that really strike me, one is having JumpinJoe let you down, and the second is how far do grownups take confrontations. If Joe was endangering the aircraft I would not hesitate to choke him out, er, "apply a carotid restraining hold". But I've got an odd set of tools in my toolbox.

I do quite a bit of 4 to 10 way, and my regular RW suit works fine. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/gallery/imageFolio.cgi?action=view&link=Dropzone_Gatherings/2003_Perris_Memorial_Day/mcGowan&image=0924-8%20by.jpg&img=&tt= That's me in the middle (yeah, we planned that point that way) Anyhow, I was doing bigger stuff with Roger Ponce at the American Boogie, and it was really tough staying at that slow fall rate, like 110 or so. I went all the way low later on, and couldn't get back in. Two weeks earlier I was fine on 30+ ways, but that group was really, really big on a fast fall rate. So, for bigger stuff do you use a baggy suit? I'm thinking about the Tony Suit, I like the Pit Special I have and my Camera Suit. Any feedback will be appreciated.

THey are cool, huh? For my 500th we did a 4 base with 4 hangers. Since we're in the KingAir, biggest we're likely to get is a 6 base 6 hangers. It's getting freaks back on their bellys! I love it. You have to be able to dive on your belly, get to your slot and grips, and then get vertical. Good stuff! I'm looking forward to the pictures.

I'd ask. If we're talking about a lunchtime beer or something I'd ask if the skydiver was done for the day. If they said "no" then I'd ask why they were endangering their lives and the lives of everyone on the load. Hopefully the person might change their mind. REALLY hopefully it wouldn't degenerate into "F*ck you!" "F*ck me?! No dude, F*ck YOU!" and like that. I've been lucky, and I've chosen my heros carefully. There are few worse things than being let down by somebody you looked up to.
