  1. Getting close enough now to start watching the maps. Average temps December according to Weather.com: (Date, sunrise, sunset, average high, average low) 27 7:28 AM 5:28 PM 67°F 35°F 28 7:28 AM 5:29 PM 66°F 35°F 29 7:28 AM 5:29 PM 66°F 35°F 30 7:29 AM 5:30 PM 66°F 35°F 31 7:29 AM 5:31 PM 67°F 35°F January averages: 1 7:29 AM 5:32 PM 67°F 35°F 2 7:29 AM 5:32 PM 67°F 35°F 3 7:29 AM 5:33 PM 67°F 35°F 4 7:30 AM 5:34 PM 67°F 35°F 5 7:30 AM 5:35 PM 67°F 35°F The 10 day forcast! http://www.weather.com/weather/local/USAZ0067?from=search_city Noice!
  2. Both versions of the hawkeye have flat tops. The LT has a flat side as well.
  3. I got 7 jumps over 2 weekends on a borrowed GTi and was flying the suit well right out the door the first time. I got docks on flights 2-7 and I flew with another experienced jumper (2000 jumps, over 100 on his classic) on each of them. My first flight on my S3 was out of a Cessna, and that exit really had my attention. If I hadn't had the GTi experience it would have been very likely I'd have had a malfunction. As it was, I had a stability problem I was able to resolve. The thing flies like a fighter jet to the GTi's P51. The S3 is a whole 'nother ballgame.
  4. Terrorist? Ouch, that hurts. Just trying a little redirection. And yeah, I'll see your Director Skinner looking bad self in about two weeks. I should have several guns with me, just to stay on the track of the thread. I hope to get some target time with the monkeys. Any of you guys want to wander out into the desert to tell us we're morally flawed as we're blasting cans, you're welcome. While your there I'll be happy to teach you how to safely handle the evil things
  5. No, that's where I'm at. I agree that primes are the way to go, if you can afford them. I have the Canon 20 for tandems and RW and have the Sigma 14 coming as a Christmas gift for FF and stuff like balloon jumps.
  6. I was just kind of surprised the humanna-humanna was still going on. I really like that new California Screamin coaster at California Adventure. And just about any of the coasters at Magic Mountain.
  7. BTFU. My wife was pregnant with twins and had toxemia the last couple months. When one of the twins rolled breach she was like "thank God, give me the epidural RIGHT NOW! Try watching that. Two doctors slicing your wifes abdomen open and spilling her innards out along with your first two children. That C section was easier on her, but dang! it was something to watch. Good luck with your delivery. If men had to carry the children to term we'd have invented artificial wombs WAY before the stupid A-bomb.
  8. Sigma has a new 12-28(I think it's 28) and I thought it had solved all my problems. But, after using some of the links to reviews that Quade has posted, it's a POS. Zooms at that range are super hard to do right. I think if anybody can do it, it's probably Nikkor, but damn, that thing is gonna be like 2 grand if the quality is there.
  9. Not me, it's the Other JP who made the error. Granted, the focus is not the best...
  10. See, there's a big gulf between the folks who like wooden roller coasters versus the steel ones. I'm a steel roller coaster guy.
  11. The photo is real. I know. I took both of it.
  12. The 550EX is one of those expensive things that, once you've been using it, seems like one of the best bargains you've ever bought. This is a sunset/overcast shot of a tandem that is at least a 100 feet away, shot with a my Canon 28-200 at f4/180, iso400. A photo taken a moment later while the unit was recharging at f3.5 shows the diff. I've also used it at basketball games with the zoom, and it will throw adequate light the length of the court. It's awesome. During daylight I'll use it at high speeds for fill flash, but I'm getting good results at 1/200th.
  13. Hey, Philly. I'm thinking this is one of those chain-driven roller coasters. Each camp builds their case "clank-clank-clank" up they go to the top. Then the other side puts their hands up in the air and screams "WHEEEEEEE! and slides down over the text without paying much attention. I actually prefer that new magnetic induction roller coaster action. Very smooth and fast. -Apropos of nothing
  14. Yes. All time guitar-learner songs: "Yellow bird, up high in banana tree"

    Taiwan

I think it's more about saying nice things about someone you don't really like just cause they're in the room. Uh, the fancy word for that is "diplomacy" . That and the fact that if we call them anything but "one China" they won't answer us. Kinda like a kid with his fingers in his ears going "lalalalalala! I can't hear you! Lalalalalalala!" until you call him "Emperor Sparky" or the nickname de jour. You know, just when we got whole new sets of clothes for the military that make them match with where they're at, we shouldn't go sending them off somewhere that doesn't provide a tan background.

    Taiwan

The issue of Taiwanese independence is like the elephant in the living room thing. Taiwan IS independent of mainland China, but they don't dare DECLARE it. China still claims it, and if Taiwan "brings it up" there will be an argument, probably involving ballistic missiles. It's about leaving it alone for now. But if China moves on Taiwan, the US will be there. We are just spread too thin, militarily, right now for arguments with the likes of China, if we can avoid them.
  17. Oh, I've got one. My right hand to your left ass-cheek. It's like that Masonic one, but for skydivers.
  18. I'm thinking the gun threads are like good rollercoasters are to some people. It's the same ride, over and over, but they never get tired of it.
  19. That's me. Very polite, but not really nice at all. I just have this awful habit of waiting for people to ask. If somebody wanders over and tells me that their grass is long, I'll look over and agree. If somebody hobbles over and asks me to mow their lawn cause they threw their back out, I'm more than happy to do it.
  20. The ink can fall out of your tattoo if the skin isn't healing well, or the needlework was less than perfect. There's a link to aftercare on this site. http://www.momsbodyshop.com/index2.html
  21. That is almost exactly the line on the only detention I ever got. "Dressed in a manner not within the spirit of the dress code" For wearing tie-dye pants to school. That was how Mr. Petar Zegura dealt with the one-step-ahead crowd.
