Cool. He didn't get to you because so many other people were more deserving. Either that or you were too cute for him to keep his "Burke" face on.
-
And yet you still managed to get Burked. Ah, BULLSHIT! I got Burked about the wildly exagerated claim that your amazing crash had killed you. You should share the Burking that you must have recieved for having tried to convert yourself into a smart-bomb and take out a residential fence, MISSY!

Negative, Ghostrider. You've never gone downwind unless you've done it in Eloy and people were dialing 911 and Burke came over and started talking to you about what would be written on your tombstone. That DVD is still available. Agreed.. BUT.. there was WIND that time Don't make me get all Klingon on your chick-magnet Hollish ass. Of course there was wind. Huge death defying Burkable 911ish wind. I'm from Byron, ASS, I know wind. The giant Mexican is all molecular and metaphysical and fun to party with but doesn't know shit about a downwinding deserving of a Burke tombstone Burking. Niether one of us crashed this year. How do we say "Fucking Eh Right!" in Klingon?

I got there the 26th, started jumping the 27th, jumped until the 31st, and did 32 jumps. Average 6.4 jumps per day, not bad considering in years past I was running around begging people to let me video them. I think having a wierd guy from Holland as a partner helps get more jumps. It certainly is fun getting a nice squishy hug from some babe who then slurs "have you seen Iwan?"

The cards read that you will continue to have breasts bigger than Chuck Blue's head throughout the year. (that shit's funny. I don't care who you are)

Well, my first kiss of 2006 was the Pixie (the girl of a friend of mine a continent away) followed very quickly by a bright friendly kiss from LTDiver. I'd already talked with my family as new years is an hour earlier in Cali. It'll get worse before it gets better. The end of 2006 should be stellar. All y'all that know what's up, thanks. (don't hijack this thread, PM's are fine) Positive. Very affirmatively positive.

I'm glad you're OK. I hadn't heard you'd crashed. Funny thing, though (not you getting hurt), when the cross country New Year's Eve landing spectacle began, and everyone (hundred-something jumpers) had to be a badass and land in the main landing area, there were some spectacular biffs. One that really looked heinous was a jumper who appeared to crash into the fence of the house just north of the grass landing area. The rest were just cartwheels and people not being able to run out the landings cause they were too fast. So later, Mr. Burke is getting a well-deserved beer from the cart and I ask him "How's the jumper who hit the fence?" He looks at me completely seriously and says "She died". I begin to shock out and say something like "OH SH*T!" and he grins a little at my discomfiture and says "Nah, she's fine". So, no, I did not escape a Holiday Boogie without a Burking. I got Pixied, too.

Um. who gave you a firewire for free of your teeny-weenie wife's airspreed jumps for nothing but hospitality? I am the man. And Dave? Never pull your badge out when you are not in uniform in your own jurisdiction when you don't have the PC to kill a motherfu*cker. You'll figure it out, but remember the public love firefighters and hates cope. When you are out and about, never tell the locals you are a cop unless you have PC to cap a fizzle. Love you Holmes. Your wife is a beauty and a very good flier as well. 10-10 JP

You're drunk on gin and tonic. I wish I was THERE! Your accent is in high form when you've got a buzz on. Merry Christmas!

I'm getting some PM's on this so I'm bumping it. With the weather being so perfect, it's likely we'll be landing on the DZ from the Balloon jumps, although the van ride is a piece of cake. They jump at dawn and dusk, and it sells out pretty quick. Again, we do it for slot because it makes for great DVD video. For the folks who have never done it, AZ is the place. Plenty of altitude and the best balloon pilot on the planet. See y'all tomorrow. JP

Okay, I'll bring my suit. Look me up. JP

Oh, you Brits, no. "Puchforardonnadfharhanhanoh" is uniquely american military, and maybe uniquely Marine. Black folks from the south, and particularly black folks teaching up whities know this vernacular "Putchforardonnacharganhannoh!' We white and other kids figured out meant "push forward on the charging handle!" We obeyed and got on with traininig. Curious: Who else encourages their minorities to lead thier rmilitary leaders? Open ask! Question! Lets fin

Goddammit old man, listent up! "UGATTAPUCHFORARDONNACHARCHANAHHO!" I felt so bad looking to my black Marine OCS brethren asking "Negro, do you know what he's saying?" and having the brother say 'Dude, I'm from USC, I don't know what the f*ck he's sayiing either" When I couldn't get aviation I DOR'd. Big mistake. I should have taken a platoon, but I was very young and very cocky. Ack. Mistakes. I'm really good taking your picture our of a balooon, so book me. Or Iwan. Or me, cause I'm funniest! Call me!
-
Basically free, with me and Iwan. I can honestly say I have about 20 balloon jumps, but have yet to go out belly to earth. You book your slot and a slot for me or Iwan. Me and Iwan both shoot flash on a 10D(me) or 20D(Iwan) good pictures limited only by not putting a part of your body between you and the lens. That's it. We'lll burn you a DVD of the jump and give you all the pictures we get (sick numbers with these modern digi SLR's) We need to know right away so we don't overbook. We are generally available in the morning and evening depending on what Betsy has us scheduled for. Betsy is mine and Iwan's boss once we are at Eloy. (I'm way bigger than her, but she is FIESTY!) Some nights like the cross-country, we may not be available for balloon, but we can refer. So, if you want photo and video of your balloon jump, just book a second slot for me or Iwan, and we'll make you a star. All part of the hospitality of the Holiday Booogie. Can't be beat. And one of us will get a Parachutist cover, dammit! I'm shooting vertical until I get a cover!

Close JP.... Its more a case of pity... See you next week Deucypoo!

Um, I once forced a guy to walk on stumps thinking he wanted something to eat when his speach impediment kept me from undertanding he didn't have any feet. That even shocked the hell out of me at the time, but it is a pretty funny story when told with beer and bonfire. -somebody help me out here.

Ouch. (just re-read this) Of course I'm not as witty as I think. That's only more proof you haven't met me. Actually, my favorite misunderstood slang is the American use of the word "bangs" to describe the shorter hair of a woman over the eyebrows. Means something totally different in Oz. The look on other people's faces from different cultures when you screw up like that is priceless. Tell a beautiful Australian girl in a bikini she has nice bangs and she will not say "thanks".

WHoopass, chickie-mama! Celebrate by coming to Arizona! WHat kind of a Master's are you going to get. Mine is an MPA (Master of Public Administration) people ask me how that's different from an MBA and I tell them I learned how to never have to pay anybody back.

No wind today or yesterday to speak of. Damm.. that sucks.... NOT! Um, well, it does sort of suck, in a good way. For those of us who jump pretty highly loaded canopies at sea level where there is usually a breeze, that first landing at Eloy in calm winds can be pretty, uh, focusing. Eloy does a great job at briefing, but there will be more canopy traffic than a whole lot of people have ever seen. Touchdown speeds can be the fastest a jumper has ever put their feet down. The type of landing you want to be able to do is to flare enough to get your feet down, bleed off the speed with your shoes as you swoop out while you finish the flare, and not end up running so fast you face-plant. I remember Karen hurting her leg a few years ago, and I don't know if the difference in altitude landing performance was a factor. I tore the heck out of my knee one year trying to run one out a few years back. Both landing areas at Eloy are like giant pool tables. Well groomed, flat, and free of obstacles. But they are at about 1800 feet (sorry Bets, is that close?) so your 150 is much more of a 135 and so on. Take that first landing at Eloy VERY SERIOUSLY, just like you were downsizing, if you haven't done that before. You Colorado folks can just move along.

It's "Wear your underpants inside out" Thursday!
Deuce replied to Girlfalldown's topic in The Bonfire
So is it OK if I just take them out from inside the drawer where they usually are?
