I've just reviewed a good chunk of your posts in this forum. You _do_ seem to have quite a tendency to post one liners, invariably rude, and often personal attacks. Speaker's corner is _not_ the "flame forum". Discussions of controversial topics can still be discussions, rather than just name calling. Why don't you take a week off to consider that? -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

So, perhaps no one ought to comment on any historical events unless they were physically present during them? That's it everyone, no more discussions of history! -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

I am not a fan of the no tape PC's. I have a nice photo of one looking like a figure 8 during inflation. I've also seen some newer Vertigo PC's that have topskin load tapes, so I'm not even sure that anyone is making them without the tapes any more. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

You could upload it to SkyDivingMovies.com, or if you don't want to put it there, I can stick it up on my web page, if you email it to me. Do you know anything about the PC? Manufacturer? Vented? Was symmetry of PC and/or attachment checked afterward? -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

????? So are you gonna move it or what?? Since I'm not a mod in the Bonfire, no. But I see that's been taken care of. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

There's already several threads about this in Speakers Corner. Starting one in the Bonfire isn't such a nice thing to do. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

Where would one purchase such an engine? Do you have any recommendations for an appropriate model? -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

I'd just like to point out that that particular Barnes & Noble (the one in the Summit, right?) was one of my favorite places to kill time, not so long ago. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

Would a piston engine be light and small enough not to compromise the aerodynamics? -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

How about "ooopsy daisy"? -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

Excellent name. We kept looking at the still and thinking "what does it look like?" It does look like some kind of rodeo maneuver. Was it called that before the term "rodeo" came to be used in skydiving, to describe a piggyback style jump? -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

Kev, Tuna, Going back and forth with "am not!" and "are too!" doesn't really result in any fruitful discussion. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

I already had a 12 gauge, and a Koran. What does that make me? A terrorist!!! I thought terrorists had AK-47's and Korans. Wait, I've got one of those, too... -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

I'm pretty sure the idea was to avoid mob violence by Americans against prominent Saudis, which would have made the situation even worse. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

Do you really see US casualty rates (in Iraq) changing much, no matter who wins the election? I just can't see a bunch of Iraqi freedom fighters/insurgents/terrorists really caring who wins our election, and certainly can't see them changing their strategy because of it. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

I wonder when was the last time either of those guys did their own grocery shopping? -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

Actually, and I admit I'm surprised you haven't grabbed this thought and run with it, I was thinking of some scare tactics I've seen the government use to push through greater restrictions of personal freedom. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

Do you think an attempt to frighten people (legally) in order to make them take (or be more amenable to) a certain course of action qualifies as "terrorism"? -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

What exactly would the other argument be? They were love letters? Could also be "run of the mill" crime. Not every criminal act is a terrorist one. Hmmm. I wonder if the opposite is also true? Perhaps... -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

I've moved this thread from Speakers Corner into General Skydiving Discussions. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

Ground launching is an acquired skill. Even paragliders, who ground launch almost every flight, occasionally screw it up and end up bouncing down a hill. Doing it without practice, off a building, just sound incredibly foolish. I've seen experienced paragliders (again, people with lots of practice at this kind of thing) screw up cliff launches and fall 100 feet under collapsed canopies. In short, I think the idea is dangerous because of the lack of practice and preparation. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

Yep. The Sierra Club is one of my least favorite organizations. They run around telling people "we want to save nature, don't you love nature?" But what they're not saying is that they want to kick all those nature loving people out of the wilderness and send them back into the city. My roommates and I, back when I was a climber, once chased a Sierra Club solicitor out of our front yard. He admitted that the Sierra club would rather that all fixed climbing anchors be removed. If the Sierra club took over my cliff after I died, I swear I'd rise up from the dead and strangle whoever let that happen. What, exactly, is the purpose of those public lands if no one is going to be able to enjoy them in any way? BTW, do you know the Sierra Club's position on BASE jumping in the wilderness? -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

It is passed to my heirs, same as the rest of my stuff. Perhaps my heirs want to set up a trust to manage it, or perhaps they want to sell it, or perhaps they want to keep it privately held. It's up to them. -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
