  1. Good suggestions all of them, I would stay away from the scrubing, sometimes that actually pushes stuff into the weave. I did learn something from a rigging school in Eloy: but it requires separating the canopy from the container...They use regular cheap wal-mart brand carpet cleaner, they mix it with water and dab a little at a time, wash the rag each time and the majority will come out, what was cool is that overnight once the rig dried, the grass stained white became white again, it was very cool. 2. A 6000 jump novice once told me: keep downsizing untill you break something, then you know the prior size was probably just right for you! LIFE IS LIKE A CIGARETTE, YOU CAN SIT THERE AND WATCH IT BURN AWAY OR YOU CAN SMOKE THAT BITCH TO THE FILTER
  3. To You seasoned riggers: I recently obtained my riggers ticket, have tools, seal in hand and eager to get started working, however I do not wish to step in anyones toes. The last thing I want to do is piss-off the local rigger by showing up at his DZ offering my services, if anything where I am there is shortage of riggers (from what I hear) Any advise? 4. According to FAA rules it is every 120 days unless one of the componenets in your system is made of natural fibers (highly unlikely) then it would be 60 days. However do check to see if the rules of a foreign jumper visiting apply, you would have to check with the DZ you intent to jump at, some have foreign waivers and some don't. 6. Thanks guys, I have tinkered enough with thid and I was finally able to produce an OK quality SVCD that did play on my DVD and on all machines that claimed to handle SVCD at Circuit City, those guys were great by letting me play with their machines. Anyhow I think I will save my money and get that Sony DRU 500A, it sound like a good DVD burner at $ 319.99 LIFE IS LIKE A CIGARETTE, YOU CAN SIT THERE AND WATCH IT BURN AWAY OR YOU CAN SMOKE THAT BITCH TO THE FILTER
  7. Yes I chose Mpeg 2 and Premier defaults it to 480 x 480, I am assuming that that is the best MPEG2 quality SVCD will accept. Perhaps the way to go is really just via DVD burner. LIFE IS LIKE A CIGARETTE, YOU CAN SIT THERE AND WATCH IT BURN AWAY OR YOU CAN SMOKE THAT BITCH TO THE FILTER
  8. I tried exactly that, except that nero would tell me to reformat quality to 480 x 480, then when I play it on my DVD player it would play just fine, menus, etc, but with about half the quality of the original file (Mini DV Format) LIFE IS LIKE A CIGARETTE, YOU CAN SIT THERE AND WATCH IT BURN AWAY OR YOU CAN SMOKE THAT BITCH TO THE FILTER
  9. OK for all you smart technical types.....HELP!!! I have a Sony TRV-27 digital video camera, Adobe Premier 6.5, The latest Nero cd burning s/w and all I am trying to accomplish is> Create a SVCD to play on my home DVD (which plays svcd format) and not loose or loose little quality , these will be short 5 to 10 minute videos. I am being told that I can only acheive this with a DVD burner, is that so? Please help, all I have been able to produce is low quality vcd's, the resolution sucks!!! 10. Yes....Well a TRV 27 which is the same, the only difference is that the TRV27 has a larger LCD. I have not had to drill anythig, I'll e-mail you pictures of my set up next time, you can e-mail me at home mrandmrsg@earthlink.net It is a great camera! what helmet are you going to mount it on? D-Box? LIFE IS LIKE A CIGARETTE, YOU CAN SIT THERE AND WATCH IT BURN AWAY OR YOU CAN SMOKE THAT BITCH TO THE FILTER
  11. Dude what a bummer: I had heard of Skysystems problems with the latch mechanism and how they have gone to a different latch etc. etc. etc. Did your camera get totally trashed? I have heard of two incidents in which the video camera survived. Hope you are OK LIFE IS LIKE A CIGARETTE, YOU CAN SIT THERE AND WATCH IT BURN AWAY OR YOU CAN SMOKE THAT BITCH TO THE FILTER
  12. Hey: Anyone out there jumped a flag in freefall, you know 2 guys hanging onto it while another fool takes the picture? (that would be me: the 3rd fool) I have been approached by two fellows wanting to do this and even though it is their responsibililty, I want to educate myself before I agree to film them. Things like a flag wrapped around my face while trying to deploy come to mind, would very much appreciate all the education available on this subject. Been jumping for 20 years and this will be a first for me. Also tips for them, I am sure they are doing their homework but a little extra wont hurt. 14. Can anyone help me locate Thomas McDow from Orbit Punkz, I lost touch when he moved from Houston. Pls e-mail me or post a reply THX LIFE IS LIKE A CIGARETTE, YOU CAN SIT THERE AND WATCH IT BURN AWAY OR YOU CAN SMOKE THAT BITCH TO THE FILTER
  15. I tried the sears thing and they told me the Internet price had to be from one of their registered internet sites, I looked up their list and they only had about 8 or 9 sites registered none of which had better prices, I may have to go to Long Island's Sears.....
  16. Has anyone heard of anything similar to a quick release being used on video cameras? I have seen them on 35mm but that is it, is this feasable? I have seen the strobo frame and it seems like a nice unit.
  17. Anyone out there using or considering using a TRV 25 (or 27 same camera lcd bigger on the 27) I am looking at a top mount camera and see some folks jumping the TRV17 and some TRV18. I have the opportunity to get a new TRV27 for a very low price, the features seem comparable to some of the PC style cameras but the profile is lower. Before I make the investment it would be great to have some expert input, my video experience is limited to an old protec and a heavy Hi-8, which did a great job in its time but that has passed.
  18. I have heard all kinds of stories from dealers and from Sky systems, the fact is no one that I know of is out there jumping a VAPOR. Pier, LTD returned one of theirs because it took a salesperson 11 minutes, not seconds, to get the damn thing of his head, you think you have 11 minutes from the time you open? I have heard similar comments from other dealers, one guy couldn't get the damn thing on, it would not latch.... It all seems to revolve around the latch. The thing looks good but if you ask me its like some women out there: pretty to look at but ain't worth a shit! Find another option, besides anyone that advertises for a year with no product, and gives variations of the same spiel to hide the facts isn't a candidate for my business. Pier tried very hard to give me straight answers but .... they weren't getting them themselves. Good Luck & Blue skies
