  1. Rob you say the orientation does not matter but I see that FAA-H-8083-17 section 5-9 states: If the canopy is equiped with Rapide links, they should be oriented on the riser with the barrel inboard and to the bottom so it tightens upward. it goes on to say how tight, etc. LIFE IS LIKE A CIGARETTE, YOU CAN SIT THERE AND WATCH IT BURN AWAY OR YOU CAN SMOKE THAT BITCH TO THE FILTER
  2. # years ago I came accross a Tempo that seemed to have had its share of repacks and/or jumps, I sent it off to the Manufacturer and they took 2 months in returning it to me with an invoice for freight and inspection, funny thing the inspection results were never written anywhere. I had to call and call and they finally sent me a copy of the invoice stating that it was airworthy as per their inspection, they further sent me the results of the permeability test as well. If in doubt make the manufacturer put it in writing, if they won't you have your answer. LIFE IS LIKE A CIGARETTE, YOU CAN SIT THERE AND WATCH IT BURN AWAY OR YOU CAN SMOKE THAT BITCH TO THE FILTER
  3. I am looking in the manual on page 12 and see no "specific" mention one way or another, can you tell me where that is? Now if you look at the photo of the assembly with links, it also shows the link insatlled incorrectly, short shank close to the riser, it should be short shank to the canopy right? at least it is the way I was taught and never seen any rigger do it differently, it is also stated this way in the Pointer's. anyway a tangent again, I am good at that, sorry. If you could please, I will keep reading but so far have not found it, may be my manual is out-dated? 6. Just got back from Laos, I saw a woman on a motorbike with two children sitting in front of her, groceries in the back and yacking on the cell phone. Momma was driving onto to the oncoming traffic, and trying to manage the balance at the same time the kids are flailing their arms. The driving onto oncoming traffic I understand they all doi it, but the phone, the kids, the wobbling, man I was just waiting to see kids, groceries and woman go flying...she managed to get back on the road and continue her juggling act...and that is not an isolated case, this kind of crap is going on all over the world. 7. AS one of the BEST Master Riggers I have ever met said...just don't get more than 2000 jumps...it will make your riggers license obsolete..... Cause every MOFO out there with mopre than 2000 jumps thinks he knows more than him (a MR with 30 years in the field and working for NASA as well)....man I died laughing!!!! I hope you get your ticket, there are good riggers out there willing to share what they know. 13. 6 years ago I lost my best friend due to a jumper's premature reserve deployment on the step, the aircraft was damaged, entered into a violent spin. My buddy was piloting and had observers on board, they all died. Yesterday a customer landed and handed me his rig for Inspection and repack...the first thing I noticed was this...see the picture, upon closer insption I noticed it was hard to slide the pin, so it could have been like this for a bit, I picked the rig obove my head, dropped it on the packing table and poof! you guessed it: instant launch. Now lets say a freefall colision, or a bump on the door, etc...this guy and his pals are very lucky. 14. check out www.spineaustin.com. although the name implies spine, these guys have done wonders in the non surgical approach, I was told that fusion would be my only way out of a vary painful neck and here I am ready to jump almost pain free and no surgery. Dr. Elizondo rocks. He may be able to suggest someone in your area. LIFE IS LIKE A CIGARETTE, YOU CAN SIT THERE AND WATCH IT BURN AWAY OR YOU CAN SMOKE THAT BITCH TO THE FILTER

    racer

That's a bit reaching about the F-18 ejection seat as this is mostly a sport parachuting forum, however, to answer your quesion the last time I had something that required an ejection seat assembly I went over to a Rigger who actually handles this kind of stuff (he works for NASA) and got some education but never gave it much following as I knew this would be a rarity. Racers are common in my area, our loft gets at least 4 or 5 a week. Saying "no" to a customer who brings you unairworthy equipment, or equipment he/she does not have the knowledge, tools and ability to do is not only important but also the right thing to do. Yeah and as far as the Rodrigues rig ...well I was fishing to see if anyone remembered what that was about.....love the velcro on that one.... A rigger who knows how to do one won't bitch about it, if an individual is going to be a rigger he should be educated on what he finds most difficult whether it is a racer, a javelin a vector, a rodrigues rig or anything else.....because that rig will come to his table one day and the last thing a rigger should want to hear is: "that guy made my rig look like crap" LIFE IS LIKE A CIGARETTE, YOU CAN SIT THERE AND WATCH IT BURN AWAY OR YOU CAN SMOKE THAT BITCH TO THE FILTER

  21. perhaps getting the TRV27 from Cameraforless.com is not a good idea, there are quite a few horror stories about these guys, sure wish to see if any skydiver has had good luck with them LIFE IS LIKE A CIGARETTE, YOU CAN SIT THERE AND WATCH IT BURN AWAY OR YOU CAN SMOKE THAT BITCH TO THE FILTER
  22. yeah, I did the search, but I heard soooo many horror stories about those places in NY. no warranty, out of stock, 3 year delivery, etc. I hope those dudes at cameraforless.com are honest, I'd sure like to get my baby back, I know the TRV80 is also a good choice, just don't want to pay that much for one. Thanks for the info LIFE IS LIKE A CIGARETTE, YOU CAN SIT THERE AND WATCH IT BURN AWAY OR YOU CAN SMOKE THAT BITCH TO THE FILTER
  23. I recently had my trv-27 stolen and am considering replacing it with a DCR-HC85, anyone out there using it? its low profile for top mounting but not sure if Bonehead has a D-box for it. I really miss my 27 but they don't make it anymore. LIFE IS LIKE A CIGARETTE, YOU CAN SIT THERE AND WATCH IT BURN AWAY OR YOU CAN SMOKE THAT BITCH TO THE FILTER
  24. as ignorant as I am on this subject am I correct in making the assumption that by using a wider angle lens (adding some distortion) I can properly compensate a Digital SLR. LIFE IS LIKE A CIGARETTE, YOU CAN SIT THERE AND WATCH IT BURN AWAY OR YOU CAN SMOKE THAT BITCH TO THE FILTER
  25. I had left all my camera gear, helmet, pelican case, lenses, etc in my vehicle at home, since I knew I wasn't going enywhere that morning, home is quite safe. Didn't count on wifey taking my vehicle that day and sure nough at her office they hit the jack pot...I have nothing left but my rig and altimeter and RW suit etc. Insurance seems like they will cover so I am looking at a DCR-HC85, to mount on a flat top narrow, just wanted to see if anyone has jumped this camera yet.
