Falling out of your rig? Ever heard of this?
ridestrong replied to ridestrong's topic in Safety and Training
I would be interested in hearing her account of it. 5 of us were recently doing a mock-up jump when one of the instructors (who was fun jumping with us) noticed one of the other jumpers in our group had his chest strap simply run through the buckle and into the elastic holder, and not through the locking buckle. *I am not afraid of dying... That was hard to read... very sad. Consensus sounded like leg straps. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.---- -
The Muslim culture usually follows certain customs set forth by the profit Muhammad. Muslim men TEND to have muslim names, they tend to wear customary clothing, they tend not to shave their beards, they tend to hold prayer 5 times a day. This does not go for all muslims but MOST muslim men follow these customs. So the above statement does not describe Muslims????? --- and I might as well say it again... I know this does not describe ALL Muslims. Next I suppose your going to tell me how different all Orthodox Jews are. *I am not afraid of dying... Falling out of your rig? Ever heard of this?
ridestrong replied to ridestrong's topic in Safety and Training
Thanks for the link, I read through it... Didn't see much significant discussion on this specific topic tho. I'm wondering if this has ever actually been reported as happening during an actual skydive? I have broad shoulders/chest/upper back and a narrow waist, making it particularly scary to think what would happen if the shoulder straps slid over my shoulders. I always cinch my chest strap extra tight as I feel it keeps the shoulder straps closer to mid-line. Next time I suit up I will see if I can slide the rig off over my shoulders like in the video. But has anyone ever heard of this happening during a skydive? *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.---- -

ridestrong replied to ridestrong's topic in Safety and Training
Has anyone ever been reported as falling through or out of their rig from the shoulder straps coming over the shoulders? Such as having a deployment while in a tracking dive, diving head-down, or in a wing suit etc... Assuming that the chest strap is at least routed correctly. Anyone ever heard of this? *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.---- -
"Muslim" is a generalization true... but chances are if you put a muslim, a mormon and a lutheran in a line-up you would be able to pick out the muslim by that very description. The majority of muslims will fit a certain description just as the majority of mormons will also fit a certain description. So yes, even though it is a generalization it can be helpful in a description. Ummm - the majority of muslims are Indonesian. Can you tell an Indonesian muslim from, say, a Philippino catholic or a Singapore protestant by looking at him? I seriously doubt it. Ignorance and bigotry hand in hand, riding strongly as usual. Please... you cannot tell me that Muslims (men in particular) don't follow a general description. Just like one can tend to spot a true hippie when you see one, you can spot a true Muslim when you see one. You don't believe this to be true???????? ETA: just because I know the basic differences between Muslims, mormons, jews, catholics, etc... does not make me a bigot and certainly not ignorant. But I know in your world ignorance is bliss. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

DZ.com only lets me enter my "Jumps" number in my profile, but I actually have 58 skydives.. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

If we are going to search/screen 80y/o women and 6y/o children then we just need to start screening EVERYONE! That way the anti-profiling whiny bitches can STFU and we can hopefully keep more of these fucks of the airplanes. It will be worth the 2 hour security lines. *I am not afraid of dying... OR, she was accurately describing the person. Like it or not, descriptions like black/white/Asian/short/fat/bald are all extremely good ways to help describe someone. You can't say black, asian, muslim, fat, or short. They are apparently offensive traits to speak of. I think you meant to be sarcastic there (we really need a sarcasm emoticon), but it seems to be true lately. I was going through Chicago, listening to WBBM news radio (they have the best traffic reports) and they had a report that the police were looking for someone (I think it was an attempted child abduction but I don't remember for sure). They had the standard height/weight/hair color, clothes and a description of the suspect's car. But they never mentioned what color skin the suspect had. You beat me too it... People are so afraid to even reference someones race now, as they are sure to be called racist toward that group. I noticed when I lived in NYC that the news would often do exactly that. They would give all the suspects descriptions except for race. Unless it was a white suspect. *I am not afraid of dying... The big difference was that GWB actually declared a war on terror... and while conceived as bad action from many he was not afraid to drop the hammer. The new admin pretty much refuses to even say terror let alone actually acknowledge terror. >>> now you respond with: Bush was a war monger, Bush didn't attack those that attacked us, Bush was an idiot, yada yada yada. At least he called a spade a spade. I wonder if there will be any more "human attempted disasters" during the gitmo trials? ....I hope not and if so I hope we thwart them all. *I am not afraid of dying... You just made ZERO arguments to your point. I didn't click on your link as again it is irrelevant. . Nope. He made HIS point very well, that YOU clearly display a double standard. Point out the double standard.... I would hold the same standard of security regardless of who is in office. Fire Tom Ridge, scrutinize him as much as you want. I don't care about Tom Ridge. Are you guys trying to defend Napolitano? She is the only one I am talking about. I simply think there is someone out there that is better suited for the job. Anything you say about Bush and his previous admin I will agree with because it has nothing to do with Napolitano's competency. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

Stupid link... I'm quite certain that Obama can appoint someone who will be more qualified and proficient than Napolitano and who is not a criminal. Feel free to continue posting your stupid links about prior Bush appointees and other irrelevant shit. Frankly for arguments sake I think Obama should fire anyone appointed during the Bush admin and hire all new people to take the blame. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

You just made ZERO arguments to your point. I didn't click on your link as again it is irrelevant. We need someone to replace Napolitano that will do more than pass some stupid shit like 'no getting up from your seat one hour prior to landing'. There needs to be more focus on preventing these assholes from getting on the planes in the first place. We also need to see 'red flags' for what they are instead of worrying that they may be misconstrued as racist or unjust profiling. I don't think there is anything partisan about wanting to improve our Homeland Security protocols and those implementing them. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

She probably is no less qualified than Tom Ridge was when he was the first Director of HS. When Napolitano was appointed, she was governor of Arizona. She had previously served as a US Attorney, during which time she helped investigate the Oklahoma City bombing, and also as a state attorney general. She was valedictorian of her undergraduate class, before moving on to law school. When Ridge was appointed, he was governor of Pennsylvania. Previously, he was an assistant county district attorney for several years. Honors graduate of Harvard U. undergrad, followed by law school. Served as an enlisted man in the Army in Vietnam. So who do you propose for the job? Your comparison to Tom Ridge is irrelevant in Napolitano's competency. She is too interested in a gummed down pc approach to terrorist prevention. I would prefer to see someone with law enforcement experience/background in the position (PD, CIA, FBI, etc..). *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

Janet Napolitano is a douche bag and needs to be fired or resign. This is not her field of expertise and she doesn't know what she's doing. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
