  1. Two things will happen 1 - for this case - The government will quickly pass a law that it is illegal for Mayo to do this. 2 - for your scenario - the government will pass a law that it is illegal for medical companies to go out of business that should fix it Sounds like a great solution. It's not too far from the truth. Basically, Medicare reimburses at fixed rates well below even average charges (and way way below what Mayo charges). If we are all forced into a government plan, and that plan simply decides to reimburse at half the current going rate, then it simply amounts to a government imposed pay cut for all health care professionals. Without directly (and politically incorrectly) getting to the crux of the matter (that health care is simply ridiculously expensive due to the outrageous amounts charged) they have gotten to the crux of the matter. From what I've read, it is pretty much what Japan did. I think we are all in agreement. Hospital and other health care costs are over priced (in-part) to adjust for loses on non-reimbursements from Medicare/Medicaid etc... If Medicare and Medicaid did not exist the private insurance policies would likely be much more affordable. *I am not afraid of dying... 3. >>I don't believe in animal cruelty ------ Huh????? What part is difficult to understand? He's saying that: on the one hand, he believes that people should never be cruel to animals; but nevertheless, he does not believe that pets are the equivalent of human children, and he finds people who do treat their pets as though the pets were their human children to be rather odd. At least that's what I think he's saying. Ok makes sense... the way it was written made me wonder if by saying, he didn't believe in animal cruelty, he was saying he didn't believe cruelty to animals is cruelty. *I am not afraid of dying... 8. On Ad-hoc, it's limited to backyard use. But with their API, you could easily build a flight path that leaves range, flies a designated pattern and return. Which is why I think that Homeland Security may have an issue. Scouting + cheap cruise missile. I'm sure it could be modified, but have you ever flown an RC copter? They can hardly lift a 'AA' battery off the floor let alone fly accurately with anything attached to them. The gas/fuel powered ones are a bit of a different story. One would be much better off buying an RC airplane which could be flown with small camera, and then some attached to it. They also have pretty long transmission ranges too. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  9. Honestly.... most of our patients that undergo a one level Microdiscectomy could probably go back to work the next day if they really wanted to. With the the exception of jobs requiring strenuous activity i.e., heavy lifting, shoveling, heavy pushing/pulling, etc... That being said we still recommend they have the option of having a week off. You can expect to have some minimal post-op soreness, but the sciatic pain that you are currently feeling should essentially be completely gone immediately following the surgery. *I am not afraid of dying... 10. That is exactly right... They won't be discussing how to improve the current bill... They will be trying to find out what it will take to bribe it through. Otherwise it would likely be broadcast as "promised". *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  11. President Obama last year praised the Mayo Clinic as a "classic example" of how a health-care provider can offer "better outcomes" at lower cost. Then what should Americans think about the famous Minnesota medical center's decision to take fewer Medicare patients? Specifically, Mayo said last week it will no longer accept Medicare patients at one of its primary care clinics in Arizona. Mayo said the decision is part of a two-year pilot program to determine if it should also drop Medicare patients at other facilities in Arizona, Florida and Minnesota, which serve more than 500,000 seniors. Mayo says it lost $840 million last year treating Medicare patients, the result of the program's low reimbursement rates. Its hospital and four clinics in Arizona—including the Glendale facility—lost $120 million. Providers like Mayo swallow some of these Medicare losses, while also shifting the cost by charging more to private patients and insurers. 15. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3658746#3658746 The difference between the two is that the OP of the Kennedy post did not start it off that way. I'm sure they both got nasty but I haven't really read into either one. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  16. It sounds exactly like you have a herniated disc. You are also likely a perfect candidate for a 'Minimally Invasive Microdiscectomy'. If anyone wants to do anything other than a Microdiscectomy I would run for a 2nd opinion. The post-op recovery is very quick as well. You could also likely be safely skydiving again quite soon. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  17. Totally agree!!! This guy is a complete pussy compared to Survivorman's - Les Stroud. Actually he's just a pussy anyway. I saw this episode where he was sliding down a hillside of broken up shale rock, couldn't have been going more than 15mph. He gets to the bottom and tries to say that he hit like 50 mph.. sliding on his ass. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  18. Ah-nold Schwarzenegger "Does a 180" Now Opposes Obamacare The Lid/ABC News ^ | 1/6/10 | The Lid Posted on Wednesday, January 06, 2010 2:22:19 PM by Shellybenoit "You've heard of a bridge to nowhere. This is health care to nowhere. California's congressional delegation should either vote against this bill..or get in and fight for the same sweetheart deal that Senator Nelson of Nebraska got for the Cornhusker State. He got the corn, we got the husk.'' The Governator gave his final State-of-the-State speech today and made a surprising 180 degree turn on Obamacare. Schwarzenegger was a big supporter of the bill, but finally realized that it will drive California deeper in debt, with the higher state costs for Medicare. In his speech he laid down a challenge for California’s congressional delegation. Schwarzenegger, who wants more federal dollars or the flexibility to reduce Medicarecosts, said the state’s Senators and House members should vote against the bill “or get in there and fight for the same sweetheart deal that Sen. (Ben) Nelson got for the Cornhusker state … They got the corn, we got the husk.” ------------------ Surely nothing some more "closed-door" debates can't fix. *I am not afraid of dying... 23. I might be able to help you find a place... I know some of the peeps that work there. You should also plan on doing some jumps up at Mile-Hi Skydive. I can start asking about a place to stay, but I don't think you'll have much luck until the dated is closer. *I am not afraid of dying... 24. Forget your Prozac today??? Attitude, mentality, productivity, etc,... is contagious. I can't tell you how often I can walk through the hospital from one floor or unit to another and notice the changes in attitude from each floor or unit compared to the next. This is probably most noticeable in the work place. One person goes to the next bitching about their job, and in return the next person, and so on and so on. I wasn't joking about the Prozac... Your statements above that I highlighted can label you by 'textbook' depressed. Start with not watching the news each and every day, and skydive more often. *I am not afraid of dying...
