Because their pussies! just kidding. Had a sales rep come into the office on Monday to bring us lunch and pitch his product... He asked me if I did anything over the weekend and I said, "Nothing out of the ordinary". Just didn't feel like having that 'No way man' conversation with him at the time, and anyone that knows sales reps knows that they're a bunch of kiss-asses to begin with. *I am not afraid of dying... Do You Want A Predictable Landing Pattern ?
ridestrong replied to danornan's topic in Safety and Training
Yikes... at 25 jumps most of the students I see are still worried about setting up a proper landing pattern. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.---- -
Headache after Skydiving?
ridestrong replied to bluepelican's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Good information.. Syringomyelia (or Syrinx) is not very common and extremely unlikely in the case of the OP. Without any neck pain, a cervical injury is also somewhat unlikely. With what little info that has been provided it seems more likely that it would be related to something such as: vestibular/cochlear (inner ear) issue or sinuses. Less likely, but possible, post-concussive (getting your bell rung). If it's getting better he's probably just fine. If it gets worse go to the ER for eval and a CT scan. *I am not afraid of dying... While Obama is undoubtedly educated I haven't seen anything from him since he's been in office that would lead me to believe he is at all uniquely intelligent. To be fair I can't say the opposite either. ...but I can say that when he's talking on his own free will (without a teleprompter) he 'ums and ahs' more than the illegal immigrant that cleans my office building. *I am not afraid of dying... Do You Want A Predictable Landing Pattern ?
ridestrong replied to danornan's topic in Safety and Training
Agree. It amazes me that people find it so difficult to plan their landing pattern while looking at the tetrahedron from 2000', everyone should be able to do this students included. For the record I believe everyone should follow the same landing pattern once it's set, regardless of changes in wind direction... *I am not afraid of dying... Whatever Maybe I missed something but I've seen worse shit go down between soccer moms at grade school sporting events. People may just be a bit too sensitive when it comes to stupid shit like this. There is plenty of bad shit happening in the world today, but I don't think this makes the list. *I am not afraid of dying... ridestrong replied to Melissa126's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Congratulations!!!! Hahaha, seems like it was just yesterday that you were talking about doing your 3rd tandem... and I was like, 'why don't you just do AFF?'.. and you were like, 'well my friend is doing a tandem and I want to go again too.' and then for some reason you did a 3rd tandem, while on vacation or something I think? Congrats, your bang'n em out! *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.---- -
Dog owner beaten by two Denver Police officers.

Yeah, there have been too many of these reports here in Denver lately. Here's another one. This guy got fucked up, other sites show pics of his face after the beat down. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.---- -
Dog owner beaten by two Denver Police officers.
ridestrong replied to ridestrong's topic in Speakers Corner
Mark Ashford was walking his dogs near 20th and Little Raven, when he witnessed police pull over a driver for failing to stop at a stop sign. He told the driver he saw him stop and would be willing to testify in court. His attorney, Will Hart, said the police officers overheard Ashford's comment and "weren't happy about it." Hart said the officers demanded Ashford's I.D. and wouldn't let him leave. "They had no reason to stop him or detain him, that's a violation of his fourth amendment rights," said Hart. Ashford then tried to take a picture of the officers to document the incident, but both the officers pulled his hand behind his back and attempted to arrest him. Ashford appeared to struggle before he was slammed into a railing, punched repeatedly in the face and wrestled to the ground. Ashford was charged with interference and resisting arrest, but the charges were later dropped, "because the city attorney agreed his fourth amendment rights were violated," said Hart. Excessive force complaints were filed against the officers. A Denver police department spokesperson said the internal affairs investigation is closed, but the independent police monitor says he is reviewing the surveillance video to determine if the police officers used excessive force. Richard Rosenthal said it is likely he will recommend a more thorough investigation. Ironically, it's the police department's own surveillance camera that may provide the proof. -- Stupid pigs! *I am not afraid of dying... Well not anymore. Met a great couple at my dz this weekend. The woman (in her late 70's early 80's?) has a D-license in the 220's and started jumping in the 1950's. The gentleman started jumping in the 1960's. They recently decided to get back into skydiving... Pretty cool! Are there any active jumpers here with that much time in the sport, or do you know of other pioneer jumpers with a similar story? *I am not afraid of dying... EVERYONE should barrel roll.
ridestrong replied to ridestrong's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
On my last jump of the day this past Sunday I was tracking away and noticed someone flying their canopy up jump run directly below me and turning in the same direction as my track (which was perpendicular to jump run). I pulled immediately at about 3,500 and was under at 2,700. Other jumper said they may have flown up jump run at about 2,500 putting them right below me. Definitely hit home with this discussion. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.---- -
Things to do and places to see in Colorado in October
ridestrong replied to BillyVance's topic in The Bonfire
I read about that in the websites on Pikes Peak. If the road to the summit isn't passable then, we'll consider it. Thanks -
Great thing about Colorado is, if you don't like the resort your at you can drive 15 min to the next one, or plan days/nights at more than one. My favs in Colorado are: Keystone, Vail, Steamboat and Beaver Creek. Vail probably has some of the best all-around terrain with big bowls, powder, tree runs, and more groomed runs than you'd have time to cover. Oh yeah, and you shouldn't have a problem renting a cabin in any of those places. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

Looks like you have a great itinerary! Can't think of much to add to it. Estes and the Stanley Hotel should be fun, it's beautiful up there. I know a lot of the people that work at the tunnel, they are great peeps, hope you have time to stop by there. After you go to the tunnel you should go to the Horseshoe Lounge in the downtown area, fun somewhat divey bar, drinks on me. *I am not afraid of dying... EVERYONE should barrel roll.
ridestrong replied to ridestrong's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I plan on phasing out the barrel roll and looking over my shoulders on more break-offs. I knew there were quite a few people here that are anti-barrel roll and obviously some that feel that the barrel roll should NEVER be performed before pulling. I just wanted to find out why they feel that way and their reasons for not doing it. Some of the reasoning and feedback given I haven't heard before and plan to utilize. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.---- -
