  1. I keep the gas for my lawnmower and other power tools in my shed out back so it is much less of a hazard to myself and others. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  2. I'd also point out that on your original list most aren't really discussion topics at all but mostly signs that the person has emotional issues and they are not ready to be dating. Honestly I've discussed my ex-wife and ex-girlfriends on first dates and it has been fine. I answer the question, provide a few details in an appropriate fashion, and move on to another conversation topic. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  3. Yes, because having a lot more units are the market is surely going to drive the prices higher "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  4. If you have a basic incompatibility problem with a guy (like if he is not well read and that is important to you, or he is intimidated by your cool hobbies) then it is best to find that out on the first date. If a girl brings up how important going to church is on the first date, well, that probably kills the second date but that is OK as it saves me time. I will still try to have a good time but I know this person is not compatible with me long term. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  5. I believe you may be confusing Jumptown in Orange, MA with Skydive Orange in Orange, VA. Skydive Orange has been around a while but not the oldest dropzone in the U.S. Not the first person who has confuse the two either. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  6. This was not what I expected when I saw Johnny started a thread about ass-biting... "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  7. Good, safe first date topics... --hobbies --pets --books you've enjoyed --foreign travel --vacations in general --what you'd do if you won the lottery "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  8. Long-standing issue. He was one jump from being eligible for the Coach Course and working with students, but 101 jumps away from being able to jump a camera. Right, well, again from what we know about this incident it appears this guy was not prepared for either one. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  9. I have no idea what you are asking because it does not appear that jumper was wearing a camera or was in any way aiming towards a coach course. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  10. I heard a similar thing and also that life wouldn't exist without magnetism - whether that's true or not I have no idea... There are a lot of assumptions of what life "must" look like in such statements. Solely based on what it looks like here. I don't know that those assumptions are valid. Life might take on very different forms somewhere else. There probably are some universal necessities for life but I don't know if we know enough to really define what they are. Interesting to look at that, though. I think it is inevitable, with the number of planets we are finding, that we are going to find life on one of them. The ability to detect that life might be a ways away as we may not even know what to look for, much less how to look for it. On the other hand, not so long ago the existence of planets outside our own solar system was speculative. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  11. Are there any real differences between a monkey's fist and a hackey? I use a hackey and used a tube on student gear. Both were find w/ me. I only belly fly so I don't see any advantage to a pud for me. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  12. Well, I'm a fun jumper but not an instructor but it appears to work great. Very easy to hear since it is right next to your ear (from my experience). looks like much less of a snag hazard than the radios on the outside of the helmet I have seen on videos or at a few other drop zones "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  13. Apparently the feds raided some places that were doing sports streaming, so options may be pretty thin. Might be easier to watch it with friends or at a public gathering. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  14. This pocket is the way the radios are done at Skydive Orange, so it is being used at least one place. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  15. Didn't this bill get passed the other day? I mean the surface transportation bill where this would be covered? I thought I saw that but not sure. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  16. I agree with this. A gift related to her degree or intended profession is always nice (although perhaps not as big a splash as it sounds like you are looking to make). "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  17. I honesty think that sooner or later teh "full faith and credit" thing is going to mandate some sort of consensus across the country. I just don't think in the long term this idea of some states recognizing and then other states (and the federal gov't) not recognizing is sustainable. I do wish we would get the government out of regulating private relationships between consenting adults. That just seems so much simpler. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  18. There is a resource on tail strikes that Jan Meyer has written. Pretty sure you can find it with a search. Nothing specific to wing suiters if I remember right. http://www.makeithappen.com/spsj/collisio.htm edit: There's the link. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  19. The same God who can insert fossils in the ground to fool us can also cause the other bodies in the sky to appear in different places than where they really are (in orbit around the earth). Wouldn't that God just make the Earth the center? Once we have it so that it is changing our visual perceptions, we disintigrate quickly to a Matrix world of nothing but brain impulses. For the same reason he would insert fossils into the ground and make it appear there is a historical record that is false-- to test the faith of his followers. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  20. Thanks Bill, do you have some sources on that? I did not know about these claims of different types of DNA. My reading kind of stopped at the Edwards case. I agree w/ the teach the controversy argument if it is taught in the appropriate setting (i.e. not biology class). In fact my interest comes through various classes I've taken in philosophy and history of religion and history of science, along with a fair bit of reading on my own to follow up on those interests. Of course those were all post high school courses. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  21. Well, again, this is not defensible as a scientific theory. "not sure what" doesn't qualify as a testable hypothesis. Are there forms of Intelligent Design that are not a God of the Gaps theory? I've done some reading but not exhaustive. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  22. The same God who can insert fossils in the ground to fool us can also cause the other bodies in the sky to appear in different places than where they really are (in orbit around the earth). "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  23. Intelligent Design is really a God of the Gaps theory. It cannot be disproven because it doesn't really claim any predictive ability (which is why it is not a scientific theory). Instead of being discredited it will slowly shrink away. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  24. Here, in a nutshell, is your problem. You can't escape your problems as easily as dumping a condo because the source of your problems will be with you whereever you go. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  25. There is no easy way to answer this because drop zones differ radically in how they handle those post-AFF, pre-A license jumps. Sometimes it is very structured still and sometimes it isn't. One side effect is that makes it hard to comparison shop on price because you may not be comparing apples to apples. You have to look at the drop zones you are interested in and ask questions and figure out what the total cost is going to be and then weigh that against factos like convenience. It is nice to train where you are going to end up jumping. I would suggest that you can get to an A license for cheaper than $3500 but that is not out of line if it is all inclusive. Some "cheaper" package deals might include travel with associated costs, too. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
