I'm finding it best to probably not return comment to anyone with less than double-digit years in the sport on this subject matter I'm afraid Eric. Please feel free to consult either your S&TA or instructors with any further specific questions of this nature you may have. coitus non circum - Moab Stone -

Naw... It's perfectly skydiving related! You obviously just aint been around, kid. coitus non circum - Moab Stone -
Contact Dave DeWolfe. I'm sure he's got PLENTY of stories of him from the "old days". Nothing in particular here, but my ex-wife's sister was long-time "significant-other" TO Alfy Smith, Joe Smith's (Dave's ORIGINAL very EARLY jump partner) son. My understanding is that they were "thick as thieves" back in those days. I've heard the stories and the name (and seen some pix). But at this point it's all 3rd-hand (once REMOVED ) to me. Good luck. -Grant coitus non circum - Moab Stone

At that point maybe you should have just forgotten to even pull at all, lest risk getting grounded (for a "low pull")? Hey... DON'T PULL LOW! That is, of course unless that is where you is! -Grant coitus non circum - Moab Stone

Football Player Caught With Stolen Sheep Updated 10:24 PM ET March 16, 2005 CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - An Oregon State football had a stolen sheep in the bed of his pickup when he was pulled over for speeding last week, Benton County authorities said. Defensive tackle Ben Siegert, 20, was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants after failing field sobriety tests. Ninety minutes after being pulled over, the 280-pound Siegert registered a .14 percent blood-alcohol content on a breath analyzer at the Benton County Jail, according to the sheriff's office. Oregon considers drivers with a .08 percent blood alcohol content to be drunk. Siegert told the (Corvallis) Gazette-Times that he had nothing to do with the stolen ram. "I don't know anything about that," he said. "I'm from a city. I don't know anything about sheep." Benton County Undersheriff Diana Simpson disagreed, saying Siegert might have been "too intoxicated to remember." The 200-pound ram lives at the university's Sheep Center, and is part of a study on homosexuality in sheep, said Sheep Center manager Tom Nichols. "We have at least one prank a year where we have to go to a dormitory or a sorority house and pick up a ram or a lamb or a ewe," Nichols said. "It's one of those springtime pranks." The deputy chose not to arrest anybody for taking the sheep. Coach Mike Riley is still evaluating Siegert's situation, said Steve Fenk, the Oregon State sports information director. "At this point they're just going to deal with it internally," Fenk said. "I don't know if it's going to affect spring practice." coitus non circum - Moab Stone -

See, like I said, I'm not even a member. Shows what I know. I just notice on there he seems to have a fairly (and correct me if I'm also WRONG here too) "positive" seller feedback rating, no? He's CLEARLY UNETHICAL in his representation of at least THIS merchandise, and that can be also CLEARLY (I think) shown. Even to a Whuffo (like the management of Ebay). I would think that SOMEHOW Ebay would be concerned enough about this, if presented to them in SOME fashion appropriately (and succinctly) to take SOME sort of action on it. But then again, maybe not. -Grant coitus non circum - Moab Stone

Hey, I resemble that remark! ...Unless of course you also just happened to forget to put your little inadvertently after this! coitus non circum - Moab Stone -
Okay, just ANOTHER perspective, and observational point if you-all don't mind ...without rehashing a bunch of what has already been said. To me, THIS (the above statement) is the premise where I feel you may "disconnect", and maybe ...just MAY have set yourself up for some FALSE expectations. ...(?? Maybe??) I do not agree that skydiving should necessarily be ENCOURAGED as an activity at all, to anyone in either particular or in general. In fact, it SHOULD BE approached very soberly, and with a good measure of CAUTION and counsel, if not even downright admonition! Although you may have been "totally stoked", "pumped up" and "psyched" to "get out to it" and "on with it", SKYDIVING IS NOT FOR EVERYBODY, and that is NOT the attitude to approach it in any way. Perhaps either your exuberance or your expectations/"excitement level" were "excessive", and that was recognized by your INSTRUCTORS (again, this is NOT merely an amusement ride that you have otherwise an absolute inherent RIGHT to just automatically "participate" in), and they felt the need to "bring that down in you" a bit 1st; and you didn't recognize/like or "appreciate" it? Seriously. ...Just another again (potential) angle, or component to think about. If you still think, after considering this, that your instructor was grossly out-of-line, then indeed, you need to bring that up, and satisfy yourself as to those answers and the dealing with it, with the DZ MANAGEMENT. I've heard several people in here already state that the Management of the DZ you went to would be fair. But are you (yet) giving them a commensurate CHANCE to be? Just coming in here & looking to provide some sort of "pre-emptive slam" certainly is not going to help your "case" any. As far as NOT jumping, HELL ...I flew nearly 3,000 miles a few weeks ago, specifically to take part in a jumping event that NEVER happened (because of the weather)!!! -Your very FIRST consideration for YOU, (and YOUR BENEFIT) like it or NOT is SAFETY! Gusty winds, or any winds in excess of 20-25 MPH (actually 15 MPH for students) is NOT "SAFE" ...and believe-you-me, if you WERE allowed to jump in those, would NOT have made your experience "fun" at all! Sounds to me like they acted APPROPRIATELY in consideration for YOUR SAFETY (and potential continuation/ongoing/future enjoyment as well) in this sport, at least in THAT regard. Hopefully all the input has helped you as well to put some things in PERSPECTIVE. Take up your concerns, and yes even if they are complaints, to that DZ's management. If you do not like the answer(s), and get yourself whatever measure of satisfaction it is YOU need from that, then also take your beusiness elsewhere. THAT is your absolute right and prerogative to do. Blue Skies, -Grant coitus non circum - Moab Stone

It's CLEARLY exactly the same picture between the 2 of them, EXCEPT for the "photoshopped" supposed logo-print ADDED. This guys needs also to have a few (nad VALID) NEGATIVE e-bay ratings submissions added to his profile. I am not personally even an e-bay member. Otherwise, I'd be happy to add one! Does he REALLY think he is fooling people? (don't answer that! ) -Grant coitus non circum - Moab Stone

I don't think there's any "within the law" caveat even needed for that Shawn. Maybe except for some REGULATED transactions (like real estate) or something. But as far as skydiving goes, ANY DZO can REFUSE to sell a jump ticket to ANY person at ANY time they so CHOOSE, period. "Good reason", or not. Some do! Blues, -Grant coitus non circum - Moab Stone -
That, to me is a shame. Hopefully Nate, you will find (as I have) that you will get "renewed" rushes that (again hopefully) should come along with new accomplishments and "events" as you progress. To me, otherwise ...why bother? - Docking 8th for your first time on that 8-way (okay, I'm "OLD" ) - Your 1st +10point 4-way - Your 1st +10point 8-way (still a great memory!) - Your 1st ...well, I could go on & on ...Your new ACCOMPLISHMENTS as you progress in ANYTHING! Extrapolate it any way you want. CReW, RW, FF ...it really doesn't (or IMHO SHOULDN'T) matter. I STILL find things to get "rushes" from on almost EVERY jump! ...Even if it is "merely" a 2-way coaching dive watching somebody just off of student status "nail" something for THEIR 1st times for themselves. My point is, don't "allow" yourself to ever LOSE that "RUSH". Just me, and my opinion, but if you do (and if I do) ...why bother? ...I'm done. Looking for that next RUSH hopefully sometime SOON! I'm still WONDERING/thinking this through if there still MIGHT be any possibility at all that the BG PC packing method just might have had anything to do with this. ...Think this through for a moment, which is what your post has brought me some pause here now to do. "Normal" PC packing method 1st folds over the material, keeping the apex of the kill line attachment right at the bottom of the handle (or attatchment extension in your case). "BG Method" 1st SEPARATES the mesh apex, and extends the kill-line (which would otherwise "normally" be "slack", but compressed all at the top of the PC) within the PC, from handle (hackey, or bridal extension) base to the apex, then fold the handle one time back down upon it. I'm just wondering if perhaps my situation some time ago was again identical to yours (which it does seem to me that it IS), but I was just lucky enough that my PC seemed to still generate enough drag to extract the bag & deploy? My PC is 24" Zero-P. I can picture this. If the handle (or hackey) stayed UNDER the PC as it hit the windstream and somehow went between the apex and the "EXTENDED" kill-line, this just might occur BECAUSE of this, -No? That's what I'm beginning to wonder. Does my description make sense/can you "see" it? Our 2 nearly identical happenstances, including PC packing method to me, seems almost TOO "coincidental" to entirely dismiss out of hand. The only other DIFFERENCE I can think of is that in my instance, I do think that there was a hesitation between my PC extraction and actual toss (hackey binding loop caught BRIEFLY on a wee bit of excess thumb material on my glove). Very, very strange. -Grant coitus non circum - Moab Stone -

I too, for nearly 7-800 jumps or so, have packed my PC in this fashion. On ONE jump however, upon return to the packing loft to repack for the next jump I noticed what appears to me, to be in retrospect sneakingly and STRIKINGLY similar if not identical to this! Up until right this very moment, I had otherwise just assumed it occured sometime AFTER landing, during my gather-up and walk back to the DZ (coincidentally also an off-DZ landing for me too ...which also added to my thought I somehow just did this during the LONG walk back). Now though, after reading this, I dunno. IIRC now too, when I got back & un-knotted it, the kill like also had still indicated "green" in the check "window", indicating that the PC had never been drawn in/collapsed, although I also distinctly recall it was "flat" on top of my main & neither inflated nor providing significant drag (that I can remember). I remember thinking this "odd", but where it did not cause me "incident" I also really never gave it any further thought. Again ...until JUST NOW! So a couple questions, if you don't mind my asking... - Do you recall if upon inspection your kill line also either indicated collapsed or it was still "cocked"? - Was there ANY sort of delay in your extracting the PC between extracting and throwing it? Nice, level headed reactions Marcus (agree or disagree after-the-fact and on the ground as to the propriety/recommendability of stuffing the trailing PC into your jumpsuit nothwithstanding) to as you note, and I'm sure: quite a both high-stress, and high-speed mal! ...Especially considering this was a "shake off the cobb-webs" entirely "cold" (no pun intended ) recurrency jump for you. Also, just out of curiosity, can you tell us at what alt you went straight to, and pulled your silver, and at what alt you found yourself under your fully inflated reserve? I'm wondering if you can also post up for us your recollections as to your total altitude awareness, especially as it may relate to # of tries for your main vs. your decision & hard-deck altitudes. I think THOSE lessons for others may be of some real VALUE too! Thank you for posting up your experience! -Grant coitus non circum - Moab Stone -

Sorry, but I don't "buy" this one for a second. Cliff, with your 24 years in the sport, I just KNOW your EYES are your REAL "back-up". Please don't go & tell me this is not so. Even with my settings (and I have NEVER -YET heard my "flatline" in freefall. ...once just under canopy after having just pulled, but that's ANOTHER story) ...I have had at least two occasions where my alti has either stuck, or been un-"visible"/unreliable, and I still continued on the skydive AS PLANNED; ...broke, tracked and pulled AS PLANNED. Only after I landed and had the ability then to check my "audible" (a Skytronic) was I able to confirm my alt's. Exit: 13,000 F/F: 60xx sec's Open Alt.: 2,300 *(I normally pull @2,500) You REALLY don't need an "audible" as a back-up to your VISUAL (either altimiter OR eyeballs), do you? Say that isn't so. Blues, -Grant coitus non circum - Moab Stone

Yeah, but right on that doesn't it also say right upon it something like: or SOMETHING like that? You also don't really want to perpetuate that one either Bill, do you? coitus non circum - Moab Stone

Start out walking South on Airport Road. Turn left (East) on the 60 & stick out your thumb. Hopefully SOMEBODY will pick you up, cause you still got quite a HIKE otherwise from there! ...Or should I say SWIM? ...With all the rain they've had there of late, you best bring your wet-weather gear. Better yet, see if you can hijack a BOAT to get you there. -Good luck! coitus non circum - Moab Stone

One setting and ONE SETTING ONLY... 1,600ft "flatline". Anything else above that is ENTIRELY "up to me". My "experience"? ...It's just too darn easy to become either "dependent" or "Pavlovian" over these things. I'll adjust it occasionally for "special" dives (big-ways for instance where I know I may be more intently "focused"). Personally, I use an audible similar to a Cypres... it is a BACK-UP only, which I hope I will never "need". But that's just me. My GF just bought me a shiny-new Protrack and the Jumptrack software to go with it for my b-day. I'm looking forward to seeing all the "nifty" little stat's (and charts/graphs) it supposedly does. Also got the ankle-strap with it, so I have no intent of using it AT ALL, as my "audible". Again though, -that's just me. Blue Skies, -Grant coitus non circum - Moab Stone
