  1. Brian Germain has published a really quite good book, combining a skydiving perspective, along with the total psychological components of transcending fear, entitled appropriately enough: Transcending Fear. If this is your primary issue, as you state - I would highly recommend it. Good luck, welcome back, and BLUE SKIES! -Grant coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  2. I've been asked to clarify that there is NO REGISTRATION FEE and... we WILL be doing AFF & Tandems off the tailgate as well! So, whether you are an experienced skydiver, looking to get your tailgate on, or completely brand-new - or ANYTHING IN BETWEEN, this will be the place to come this weekend in the Region. FFI - Call Manifest direct, at: 866-JumpUSA Hope to see YOU there! coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  3. I know this is extremely short notice, but... Brian Germain's Canopy Course, previously scheduled to take place this weekend August 13-14, at Maytown Sport Parachute Club has been transferred to Chambersburg Skydiving Center. There are slots still available! So if you are interested, call CSC Manifest at: 866-JumpUSA. coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  4. Short answer - No. Okay - but just remember - you ASKED for it! For the longer read, a rather lengthy discussion on just specifically this topic/question was once had in here before, that I just happened to recall - which you can see in essence, started in this thread (pun only slightly intended ): HERE I also recall someone posting somewhere too, an alternate (endorsed by either Canadian or EU somewhere) thread routing method, that in essence assures a nearly ZERO added pull/break force when it is employed too - but I cannot seem to find that particular one right away. I'll post that up later if I happen to also find that too. EDITED TO ADD: FOUND IT! ...BPA Reserve Sealing Method Document coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  5. To quote one of my favorite movie scene lines in response to this, if it is so... The horror..... ... .... ... ... ... ...The horror! coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  6. I din't even see that earlier! ...That is, right up until you just RE-posted it. Thanks for providing that service, Pete! I actually found it pretty funny! coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  7. AFAIK - pure (i.e. non-perfumed) naptha (sp?) or Alkyl Naphthalene Sulfonate (ANS) as it is a non-corrosive, actually textile dyeing BASE that was probably even used in the very MFR of the canopy fabric in the 1st place itself, is the only commercially-available approved cleaning agent approved by the major canopy MFR's. This is at least in my experience "around & about" / in my travels, what I have anecdotally heard anyway. I don't know directly, so ... you may want to just check directly with the canopy mfr themselves. They should be able to best direct/advise you. coitus non circum - Moab Stone

  9. Which is also in direct correlation as to the effect of whether the cutter actually (cleanly) cut(s) the loop, versus traps it, would have a material affect (via "locking" the reserve container closed if instead the latter) or not as well - right? EDITED TO ADD: That's why this is so critical. It is not just a (for lack of better word) "simple" failure event in this case - that would/could be overcome by a jumper simply pulling for themselves, the reserve handle. It is a failure mode in which when it occurs - in SOME rigs/configurations, actually INTERFERES with the operation of the reserve system (and an even manual operation/launch of the reserve) in toto. If I am understanding all this correctly of course too, that is. coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  10. Yes, and to be perfectly fair, as you request - I think what he was referring to, or trying to impart - taking all the inflammatory emotion out of it - is that, if this cutter is/were located in a rig whereby its firing resulted in a trapped (non-fully-cut) closing loop ... that even if the student DID then pull his reserve handle (let's say it was a TOTAL on his main) - then even if he did in that circumstance, the reserve would have been TRAPPED / LOCKED inside the container, which most certainly would have been fatal. I think THAT much of the observation / post anyway, was a fair statement. I agree though - sticking to (just) the FACTS, and calling for each of us to consider not having our valid posts otherwise just summarily dismissed out-of-hand, by taking any/all of the vitriol/"conspiracy theory" BS out of our postings ...regardless of which AAD Mfr. it may be ...is probably well advised. coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  11. Next post coming... In 3... 2... 1... "Cypres kills & covered-up/being hushed somehow, blah... blah... blah..." Anyone taking odds? coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  12. Bwaaaaaa..... I just spewed coffee all over my monitor here on that one! Rock on Petejones. Rock on! coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  13. With all due respect - I taught 2 AFF FJC's over this past weekend, personally, and would not hesitate an instant to give you any of my attending student's direct contact info with absolute full confidence they would/could indeed correctly answer this. coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  14. You're kidding, right? And THIS post is for what? ...To try and gain you some sort of manufactured "credibility"? FAIL. Try again. coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  15. Cypres deaths? Really? C'mon now... Not too "sensationalist" here at all, are we? Are all these targeted/intentional killings (like an assassination, or a "hit"), or - are they more random, like say a drive-by shooting? Maybe they are just ancillary/collateral damage to just lesser (attempted) crimes they are committing - like armed robberies gone bad? So, your concocted by an attorney filing a (misguided I might add) lawsuit, for the purposes of trying to "wow" a (potential) jury (if this ended up even being "allowed" - which is questionable) is now a definitive "fact sheet"? C'mon out from behind your chicken-shit anonymity & I/we will be happy to debate you. Until you do - why don't you just go slither back under that rock you (what - just yesterday?) slithered out from. coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  16. Check with MEL ("Masterrigger1" on here). He will have all the OEM spec's right on-hand for most OEM systems, as well as can best guide you as to thoroughly vetted mods (of which perhaps either a somewhat larger than OEM, or even "domed" slider option) - whichever, that might be most preferable to directly best suit your needs. coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  17. Just to clarify - I don't think any coaches (themselves) are actually charging $60/jump, are they? More likely, what you refer to is the DZ charging $60 for a "coached jump". I've yet to see a DZ that actually pays a coach any more than maybe just $10-15 MAX of that, and some merely only "compensates" the coach out of that, rather instead by "covering their slot". Trying to avoid any "coaches" out there, from potentially getting mugged this weekend now is all! coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  18. Interesting that this particular video is now being used as 'examples' of something in 2 entirely unrelated (issues) threads. My opinion is that it obviously worked for him, in this instance. But that does not necessarily make it either smart, or "right". I also would NOT recommend others doing this (or what got him into this in the 1st place - but then, that is the OTHER thread ) - or trying it, certainly based off of this, as it is my opinion that it just very fortunately happened to (LUCKILY) NOT F him up in this case. THIS TIME ...The scenarios where it COULD HAVE though, versus just leaving it alone in a stable bi-plane - as opposed to what he did here, and those odds as such became much worse (in every aspect) by doing what he did, via what you see here. The fact that he "got away with it" notwithstanding. coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  19. No. Steering alternate canopies via the inside-most riser of each, TOWARDS/into the other, as you are suggesting with this, is not at least the conventional (and published/well-tested) wisdom. If you HAVE to make a turn(s), selecting ONE canopy ("the most dominant ...usually the main") and applying GENTLE inputs, so that the other canopy then "follows" it, rather - is. Andy understood what you were saying the 1st time, and has now replied to it TWICE: +1. Re-wording it, then repeating still basically the same thing again - disregardig the response(s) you are being already given, does not then make it right. I also, would not reccommend the method you are coming up with, no matter how semantically you word (and then re-word) it. FWIW. coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  20. You keep referring to that, as if it is your applicable criterion. Say it often enough and you might be actually able to convince someone (yourself?) of it. Please Shah - for once, actually listen to those (especially after you have asked) who still seem to have the patience enough, and the consideration enough to try & guide you. Watching you constantly trying instead to simply "re-justify" some of your misguided positions - then in a public forum where you could actually conceivably convince others to consider some of them (as if valid) & try 'em for themselves, is really starting to get even beyond being just tiresome. Your question has been asked, and answered. Why do you not ever seem to want to accept the answers that are (oft cases - extremely graciously) provided to you? I mean really - if you are going to "go your own way" ANYWAY - please... why even bother (asking)? coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  21. You've just now made public illustration of why no-one, should ever consider buying used gear from you, or that passed through your hands. - Who knows how it may have during its tenure with you, been jury-rigged! coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  22. No. There is no skydiving existent on Barbados. Beautiful Island. Love some of the old British traditions at some of the resorts/activities that still take place there. Tea & crumpets. Dress slacks "trousers" required (even beach/pool-side) at brunch, etc. Give yourself a break from jumping and don't worry about it while you are there. The skies will still be here when you get back. Enjoy a simply MAGNIFICENT vacation spot there. Great get-away choice!! coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  23. We are with you. You are not alone, brother. BSBD, -Grant coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  24. Setting yourself up to COUNT ON radio is not necessarily a good idea, or the best advice. Radios can, and *DO* "fail". Then, if set up to be COUNTING ON this as your "so easy" savior - where would the OP (or anyone thinking this is a good/viable option) then be? Think about that. I would not recommend anyone put themselves out, in a position where they are absolutely expecting/counting on this! JMO. YMMV. coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  25. That's right peeps... HARDEN THE FUCK UP! coitus non circum - Moab Stone
