  1. VIDEO of the aftermath, from AvWeb.com Here is the full narrative from their report/associated article: Fowler's complete released statement on the incident, is also available on-line: HERE BSBD Liberty Belle coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  2. Bears repeating. +1. Ditto. Etc... THANK YOU!! coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  3. Let's see... "ZP" = ZERO perosity. How much less than ZERO do you think adding a film of water, or moisture over the surface is gonna provide? coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  4. Negative. He is referring to the portion quoting (pointing out) that you are falling, and traveling ("flying") relatively the same, within the same relative airmass. Wind direction at that point in freefall, makes absolutely no difference to you - RELATIVELY, whatsoever. Therefore, which way you are facing, once you have equalized with (within) the airmass (i.e. outside of doing a H&P rather, for instance), makes absolutely no difference at all. Why is it that everyone takes such great joy in making someone who is asking an honest question, have to GUESS around the answer? coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  5. If your canopy is already deploying, then your PC is already - clearly - - launched! How then, does this have anything to do with, or apply at all, as a technique (supposedly) to clear/prevent PC launch hesitation/being "in the burble"? ...??? You are now severely "reaching" / contradicting yourself, and continue to dig yourself in even deeper & deeper. Dude - drop it. And move on. You are doing yourself no favors by continuing (in abject desperation in my observation) to try & find a way now, to somehow "justify" or "qualify" your original response. It was incorrect. We all make mistakes. Your post/reply to this particular subject was one is all. I understand what you may be trying to portray, as someone with a really solid track first STOPPING THEIR TRACK prior to deployment - but interpolating that into actually suggesting it as a viable practice/method versus practicing an otherwise stable-oriented deployment sequence, for purposes of using this as a method for (specifically) either off-setting for a weak throw, or - clearing a PC hesitation burble technique, as others are trying to also show you why - is just plain simply wrong. coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  6. Well there you go... You've got a plan! (apparently) Do yourself a favor - don't try to "learn skydiving" from / on youtube. coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  7. Hey Ron - Yes, that is correct, and WILL DO! Edit to add: You can see JR in the video in fact - he was on the load, right-side, all the way back (forward) next to the pilot. As you know, his son (Jamie) also jumps on the Carolina Turbo XP team, and is the videographer for me/us on this jump. It was a real "FAMILY" event all around, indeed. coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  8. Okay - so I'm a little biased. Maybe even just a smidge "over-the-top" right now too, PROUD PAPA!! - So shoot me. ** (ha! - You can't, I'm bullet-proof!! ...At least that's how I feel right this very moment! ) because... My eldest son Adam - made his very 1st Skydive this past weekend, and I had the distinct HONOR and supreme pleasure to actually accompany him, as one of his instructors. One of the most incredible RUSH's and absolute HIGH's in this sport, even imaginable. I am still not calmed down from the adrenaline rush!! And well... I just had to SHARE! So, with no further adieu then, here is a link to the video evidence of it, I've just posted up to YouTube: ADAM MAKES HIS 1st SKYDIVE coitus non circum - Moab Stone

  12. I think I just may be that "younger jumper" Mike, you are referring to with this. Although I never had the honor of truly getting to know Kevin well, his impression upon me is ever-lasting, none-the-less. His open honesty - clearly, his willingness to share - not only material items, but of himself, his experience and his advice - always openly & freely - and as someone else has already said - he clearly, and in every aspect had "the right stuff". My heart and thoughts go out to all of you affected and no doubt saddened by this loss. I personally, take solice in knowing I have had the HONOR of having associated with, even if albeit only briefly, and sadly only so infrequently (yet still, so MEANINGFULLY), one of the great ones in this sport. And that is what (and who) Kevin clearly was, and we now have added to our passed ranks... One of the great ones. BSBD Kevin, -Grant coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  13. Right. And probably the most "convenient", at least in direct highway available travel to/from considerations may go. From Chantilly, pretty much basically: 15N to 70W to 81N to ...Chambersburg! As others have also already said too - any of the 3 already mentioned - C.Burg, Orange, or West Point would be fine choices, and each offers full-time turbine aircraft, and their own unique (and WELCOMING in all cases) positive "vibes". You may no longer be only just 15-minutes away from ONE available dropzone, but you will be now "trading in" (and maybe up? ) to THREE (plus even another, if you want to also add/consider/include Delmarva - which is across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge on the "Eastern Shore"), all excellent dropzones you have option too now, instead. - Welcome to the East Coast / Mid-Atlantic! coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  14. Picture on the website is of a tandem pair exiting a Caravan. The "cheap fare" option is for a "7 &1/2 minute skydive from 7,500ft". Then of course, many other added-cost OPTIONS that presumably, the pedestrian whuffo could "upgrade"/opt for, like: "Up to 12,000 - ADD XXX" "Max Altitude" - ADD another XXX" (or something like that ...I'm not at a place I can reference the website this very moment to EXACT quote) Might just be a great "bucket-list" get this 1 & done outa-the-way kinda deal place, but I just don't know. Someone out here has got to have more direct, available knowledge. The "yelp-sale" coupon deal (supposedly something like a 60%? savings) "ends soon" (again - supposedly) & I'd like to be able to reassure (if I can) some whuffo friend peeps, they're not getting ripped off, if I can. You know whuffo's ...all starry-eyed and anxious! I did at least already tell them that they won't get a whole lot of freefall, from only 7,500 - if that is something they are even considering. One mentioned a friends awesome video from NZ & had no idea what difference jumping from (he said they did) 15k there - as compared to only 7,500 would be. I also would not imagine they're necessarily flying a Caravan for these particular (low/7,500) jumps either. But who knows. There is no mention of ANY particulars really, to this - other than the "glitzy" sales stuff of it. You know... Here's what you get: "An exciting, blah-blah, blah ...video of your adventure ...and (of course) a t-shirt" The whuffo's are salivating! If anyone can fill me in on FULLY and FACTUALLY what they can actually expect when they post-up for their jumps of a lifetime ...please do, let me know. Thanks again in advance for anything possibly actual/1st hand. Blues, -Grant coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  15. I have a bunch of friends asking me about this DZ. I do not know anything about them, so said that I would ask around. They are supposedly, a "beach location" DZ in Oceanside, CA. Anyone with any information on them? Good place to send a group of Whuffo friends? Legit service provider, etc. etc.? Please don't refer me to their website or Yelp community page "coupon sale" deal pages. Just like my whuffo friends - sure, I can see those too. I'm looking for any actual possible "hands-on" knowledge, feedback/insight and/or experience that I'm sure some of you must have out there. TIA & Blue Skies! -Grant coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  16. Why in the world did you just post a "reply": Followed immediately by: - coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  17. I'm having a particularly hard time envisioning how the steel ball even could have gotten itself inside the cutter in the 1st place. Any (credible) theories? coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  18. So, further investigation is stating that somehow, a steel "bb" (for lack of better terminology) got into the cutter mechanism, and is what interfered with accomplishing a clean cut (at least in the San Marcos instance/case)? coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  19. The "reputation" of Crossfire's in particular, being prone in any way to collapse, comes from IIRC - an actual incident where a woman participating in a swoop competition, experienced radical collapse from tree-rotors right at gate-entry and went in. There was also a certain serial-# run that was re-called from (or for) line-trim settings concerns. This also begat a whole further debate with/on them, on the merits of assuring adequate loading of them too. Not too long thereafter, Icarus released the XF-2, and "all hailed" it as "curing" all the above concerns. Most of this is anecdotal however, and my earlier post was more really, intended to point out that the wingloading range reccomendation chart is NOT what the poster was looking for. The OP already had that, and he was looking for more of the "reasonings" behind what he heard. Hopefully, my post here now, more adequately provides that. Although RiggerPaul is correct as well, that you probably no matter how hard you look - will not find the MFR anywhere actually stating to you, to load it at least at "X", lest it collapse. One poster calling on another to provide your written proof, or "cite your documented references", and me then further chiming in upon that - calling on folks to simply not just "parrot" merely RUMOR or something they have (or think they have) heard "somewhere", should not be taken as my position or support that it is OKAY to under-load a clearly designed to be a "HIGH-PERF" canopy, so as to make it more docile, and that then makes it okay. That would be a mistake. FFI: see another thread already discussing this along similar lines, that can be found: HERE coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  20. I don't see anywhere it says that this canopy is prone to collapsing in turbulence, if "underloaded"! - That is what your poster, to whom you are replying is asking about, and "challenging" his addressee to quantify. So many people just plain "parrot" on here, something they've (or think they have) heard, and espouse it as if fact. I think that is (was) the point herein, trying to be made. FWIW. coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  21. The additional near-miss at @ 3:30 is just as bad ...and is clearly indicative of this person's totally cavalier attitude(s) too. This is precisely the kinda stuff being "debated" in Incidents right now. coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  22. So if you "pull the pin" (manual reserve deployment) you are also then, simultaneously in effect, also pulling the whole loop-cutter from the loop? Do I read what you are saying correctly? Sounds in principal like an interesting idea. However, what would the cutting mechanism have/use as a "back-stop" if it were cutting outwardly, from itself? I can think of several additional failure-modes that could occur as well with such set up. Seems almost anything (and everything?) has its variables/risk/reward benefit trade-off's inherent in them. coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  23. Incorrect. If you can give your (accurate) lat/long - 911 CAN handle it (and will) dispatch right to you. ...And it does not take a Helicopter dispatch (as you continue with in a later post as well) to accomplish it either. - FWIW. coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  24. Why in the world would YOU transact then, under such circumstance(s)? Seriously. You are not (were not) doing ANYONE any favors, under such auspices! When I transact business - with any reliable, good business source or associate... ESPECIALLY if I want to maintain the privelege of transacting with them again - or long term (or ANY period of ever expecting to transact repeat business with them, time) - I want to make DAMN SURE actually, they are making a profit! Certainly not exactly the opposite, as you seem so proud and pointed to assert. It is not reasonable to expect, let alone "know for a fact", otherwise. - Think about it. coitus non circum - Moab Stone
  25. Thanks for the "refresher" on this one Ron. I've done the exact same thing at least a couple of times before (luckily without incident at all) - and you've just given me something to think about. Complacency - Indeed, complacency. Thanks for the eye-opener! coitus non circum - Moab Stone
