    Unemployed

WOOOHHOOOOOOOOO;;;;;;;; When in doubt.........fuck em up!!!!! seriously.....good luck becoming employed again.......I am about to (I think) be joining the ranks of the unenjoyed. The only saving grace in my situation is that I can throw students out, and video tandems/aff to pay for my jumps.... good luck; Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  2. Welcome to my world!!!!! cherio chap; Roy.... de uglyiest dude on Dz.com :-P Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

  4. Well................ the parties are fun, she could sing in the crack chorus......topless bar dives of course, mcgreggor lake isnt far away, depends on what she likes to do....... good luck
  5. She has a small depth perception problem....... consistently flairs too high....then has to let the brakes up to her chest to keep from stalling it......more jumps will correct it, but she mentioned she wished that she could just practice her landings ( due to cost ) I am going to start video'ing each landing so I can show her what she is doing.....she has great accuracy, but few and far between are the standups.... 6. exit weight with everything 170 reserve - Tempo 150 main - icarus 85 fx Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  7. [ I heard this one from an S&TA and thought it was pretty funny. When the S&TA saw somebody he thought was being a little too aggressive, he'd take them aside and give them a form to fill out, he'd have them fill out the name, address, next of kin type of stuff. Kind of sounds like a waiver but it wasn't. He'd tell them he was just too freekin' busy to keep having to fill these out so if the skydiver wouldn't mind, he'd have them fill it in now and he'd just keep it on file. He'd make sure the skydiver knew it was a fatality report Now, I'm not too sure if that was the most tactful way of doing it, or even the most effective, but it sure sounded funny! That is freakin AWSOME!!!! gonna have to use that one.... Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

  10. My girlfriend is having problems with her landings and mentioned that she would like to practice just her landings and I remembered at a past PIA simposium that they were demo'ing the software, harness and stuff. the write up was positive on it, so I was hoping one of the larger west coast DZ's would have one, thanks; Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... 11. Does anyone know what dropzones have the virtual reality canopy simulators? Are there any on the west coast? Thanks Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  12. started in 96 only got 300 jumps in the first three years then hit it harder, total to date is 1600+ Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  13. If you have a rig made to fit you, you should be able to specify what sizes of canopys will be used, My reflex was made for me, (defunct company) I told them 150 tempo, and a 135 stiletto would be the largest canopys it would ever hold, it now is holding a 85 extreme and I could go smaller on the main. 14. Hello all, I decided to write this in response to another post where the individual was "tooting his own horn" My response on that post may be deleted for being inflammitory...I am a firm believer in the teacher learns as much from the student as the student learns from the teacher................ I have never been Scotts --"homers" teacher, he took his training from another dz but I am senior to him with around 10x his jump numbers, I have been an instructor for four years and have initiated a number of younger jumpers into night relative work. This is fun shit!!!!!! the fear has ebbed for me but for them it is another story, suddenly they are doing the same stuff in another environment......and they do not know what to expect ........fear...doubt......total uncertainty, I wanted to freefly, in which I had been told he is doing great. But scott wasnt too keen on that Idea, which was fine, expand your horizons, but know when to say no........I wish there was an expletive key to expound upon this...... dont let anyone push you into anything you are not ready for!!!! be this night freeflying...smaller canopy.....tight demo's .....etc.....stretch your skills at YOUR own pace!!!! There is lots of time..... Anyways my point to this whole post was, here was a jumper who was willing to make a skydive in a relatively new environment with a jumper that he had never jumped with before, we knew each other, had talked, drank beer together, but had never made the leap ..... So we got on the 206 and headed for 7500'....... our dive was simple, round/side body/ round/ alternate side body...alternating between both of us....... we turned the first point on the hill, which surprised the HELL out of me, most jumpers wait till they are flat to initiate the first point....HE initiated the first point!!!!!.........I wasnt expecting this, he just went for it, "VERY COOL" Kudo's to his instructors!!!!! we manage to yank each other around the sky for 9 or 11 pts, * we disagree........"ok, we are not sure.............but 9 pts is a very nice 2 way night jump......oh yea........I forgot to mention we broke at 5000'............... Anyways......no matter how many jumps you have, you can still learn something from anyone.........Thank you Scott, I had a Blast!!!!! Roy R. Springer D22369 They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  15. WOW........could you demonstate the "skygawd" mentality any better??? any person with a different perspective has something to add to any discussion........so they have less jumps than you do so what?? maybe they thought of something you didnt............. ok he man, flame away Roy R. Springer D22369 They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  16. 5 min.............and they seem to give me the nicest openings................. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  17. Oh my god that is to funny...I'm from the midwest and I was trying to explain to Derek why he shouldn't get so worked up, due to the fact that most of the midwest is rather...ummm..."retro" I see I got his panties in a bunch, truthfully I was reading about a DZ that has decided that they cannot rely on their customers to exercise their own intelligence and have decided to save them from themselves and it kinda irritated me, I did try to vent in a relatively safe and sane way, tried to keep it light. quite honestly, I didnt realise that the term "hick" was even still used......except by us old people. But I am glad you found it as amusing as I did to write. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

  19. Most excellent!!!! Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  20. Ok, I can understand this. I do know one static line instructor with around 500 jumps who is a good freeflyer, his belly flying skills however are stunted to around 50ish, he does great with throwing them out of the plane on their first jumps, but in freefall he is too clumsy to fly in thier face, much less to pay attention to thier body position and awareness level, he was grandfathered in as an instructor when the new rating system was implimented, he does a great job teaching them on the ground but he couldnt pass the coach course to save his life..... I would continue to use the hand signalls even if they were prohibited in the FAR's, there is no other way of effectivly communicating with a student in freefall. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  21. If that is the case then that should be stated clearly. There are other dropzones here in the Las Vegas area that should not be receiving the bad rap of another DZO. There are other dropzones that are not that way here and they are trying to build the sport, so open ended statements should not be made that could be detrimental to them. Although they are not Perris or SD Arizona class DZ's they are still fun places to jump and have some cool people that are helpful and accomadating to funjumpers. -------------------- ---> I agree with you completely, hopefully everyone realizes that there is only one "ANTI-CHRIST" in the skydiving community, he just happens to be sharing your state, sucking up your oxygyn.....and before the flames come, yes I have met him, no we dont exchange christmas cards...... Jean is a very fun/ friendly place. I had a great time when I jumped there, one of my best friends works there now, you may know her Katie or K8 as it is. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  22. The right to use hand signals during freefall W T F ??? excuse me? maybe I am speaking out my ass here, but since when did hand signalls become a right? Are you saying they are only for AFF I's?? What about the static line or IAD students that are in freefall? Am I violating some obscure tenant of the BSR's by doing my job to the best of my ability?? I have been using them for students in freefall for 4 years. its the only method of communicating that works..... I use the same ones that AFF uses ....If we are not allowed to use them, how are we supposed to communicate with the student? is there something in the FAR's that prohibits me from using hand signalls?? If there is, I sure havent seen it. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  23. ---> I believe hook was referring to skydive las vegas, who has instituted a rule that if you were not trained there, you cannot jump there. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  24. CYPRES OR ASTRA AAD -->> That will teach me to respond without at least checking out the website Roy hmmmm, ya know, dont suggest to them that they would be even SAFER if everyone jumped with a tertiary reserve and pulled at least by 8,000' They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  25. That is even more pathetic than a DZ that requires a AAD to jump. They are off my list because I bought my canopy for the fun factor, and I aint gonna rent or buy a skybarge. LOL What do you expect from a bunch of hicks out in the middle of a corn field?.......hell.....they probably still jump rounds wearing old motorcycle helmets and military surplus jump boots. but Its their DZ.......they can do what ever they wish..... fortunately for everyone their are other drop zones out there with a more progressive outlook. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
