  1. I have caught one person with a misrouted chest strap in 18 years now. *(I am not always looking at tits ya know) their response was a blasé oh well rather than the "oh shit" I thought it deserved. but they did reroute it.

I disagree with some of the other posters as to it being a worthless item. for those of us suffering with substantial hearing loss it will make a nice backup. the high pitch alarm on an audible is useless if you cannot hear in that tone range. if they give it a selectable altitude mode I want one!   3. I have the same thing, if its windy out my eyes still go dry even after 12 years but... its just a small annoying problem when balanced against the gain
  4. So where were all the right-to-carry, NRA advocates??? When it comes to defend us from the gun crazies, they are nowhere to be found. Seems to me, that handing out guns to everyone in the name of the second amendment is not such a great idea. *** it is your duty to protect yourself, carrying doesn't protect you from a blindside but it does give you the means to save yourself from some loony who for whatever reason has decided he has the right to kill you. freaks like this socially stunted asshole are exactly why I carry.   5. line twists can happen with any canopy on any jump even with perfect body position or a perfect pack job, your throwing a ball of nylon and string out into 100+mph wind- the bag can spin as it leaves the container, one side of the canopy can inflate quicker inducing line a line twist or two or you could have horrible body position which usually will give you the worst line twists. student canopies are large for a reason, they are quite forgiving - even extreme line twists the canopy will generally fly straight, just remember to clear the twists before unstowing the brake lines. downwind landings are not a guarantee of injury and can be performed quite safely, however you should try to land into the wind but never never never try to turn into the wind at a low altitude - if you find you have misread the windblades - just take the downwinder and plf or slide the landings - as a new jumper I would recommend the plf instead of the slide since slamming your butt on the ground isn't pleasant if you misjudge the distance to the ground. I can recall reading about a canopy simulator someone had years ago but haven't ever seen one. Have fun! Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  6. Years ago I joined the Marines on the buddy program with my best friend who's story is nearly a mirror for yours. only difference is his wife and kids cut him/her out of their lives completely. congrats on your happiness and having the courage to live the life YOU want

  8. it just takes a small lapse in judgement on any canopy to hurt yourself no matter how many jumps you have. upsizing is not a get out of pain card. having over 2k jumps means his store of knowledge and bag of tricks is bigger than someone with 100 jumps but doesn't grant any more luck - sometimes it just runs out if the brain fart occurs close to the ground.   11. they also tend to be the ones who are not as good as they think they are - if something goes wrong on a jump its always something someone else did. I have jumped with world class divers who are truly great and been made to feel welcome on their dives. when my ex and I split up I roamed around the west coast states states jumping at small - large dz'z depending on my mood that weekend and I ran into all types and having a thick skin served me well

Think about it for a bit - there are many. nahhh it will be more fun to break it down for you since I have "a lot of nerve" I'm gonna do just that. 1) perfect union... laughingly incorrect - perhaps once it was but now we have a two party system entrenched who will do anything to stay in power including destroy this country. 2) justice - not really when the rich and famous can get a slap on the wrist for something that you would spend years in prison for - whatever happened to "all men are created equal" - I wonder... 3 domestic tranquility - lets look to the Rodney king riots - lets look at race baiting - hell just a week ago there was an incident where a white guy hit a small black child in his auto - look it up - not to leave out people beating and torturing someone who just happens to be attracted to the same sex - http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/04/03/driver-assaulted-by-crowd-after-hitting-boy-clings-to-life/7285575/ people are using race and sexual orientation as excuses to violence others. 4) Common defense - with our borders working about as good as a sieve do you not think an enemy would exploit this to bring in men and equipment? quite a few years ago I took an oath to protect this country from enemies foreign and domestic - nowhere in that oath did it say I had to remain blind, and nowhere in it was a clause releasing me from it when I left the service.   20. about 14 years ago we had a young jumper bring out his mother for a tandem, he had around 100 jumps and was quite skilled for his jump numbers, the TI and I *(videot) agreed to his request to lurk our jump, he was given explicit instructions on what to do/not do. My only indication I was going to be hit was a split second of ...something that flashed in Daves expression right before impact the hit was incredible and came from above. I used up one of my 9 lives that day. he could have easily centerpunched the tandem and fouled the drogue. I lived because I was lucky. I learned my lesson the hard way - low time jumpers have no business in the air with a tandem - hell, some experienced jumpers lack the skills to fly with them too. Had a regular jumper do just this at our dz, she landed and one riser disconnected once her weight was off the risers... she had decided to trim her cutaway cables the night before since they in her opinion were way too long... told her to go buy a lottery ticket as her luck was running very good. too close... My brother is a leo plus I have a handful of friends who are here in Washington state - we have an informal shoot every couple months at a friends house up in the hills west of Yakima. we were discussing the possiblilty of gun siezures by the government and they are quite emphatic that if that order comes down they wont be the ones seizing them - their stance was: "if the lawmakers want them then they can go get them all themselves, I aint getting my ass shot off trying to take a persons firearms who hasn't done anything wrong" I don't think all will fight but I am pretty sure some will.
