Nonsense! No one in their right mind would expect some teenager to be able to hit a small exhaust port with a photon torpedo! It was barely two meters wide!*** C'mon, whomp rats were only slightly larger and mobile, since he could hit them it stands to reason that he couldnt miss... duhhh Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... I thought he didn't believe in Jesus? Hmmm*** think I read that they did believe in jesus but didnt worship him, he was just regarded as a prophet or holy man or something like that. someone here probably knows and hopefully will correct me if I am wrong. I am a believer in stupid should hurt but this was totally pegged at the far end of stooopid... the house next door's large dead tree finally fell two weeks ago onto their house, it was being held only by a vent pipe or it would have slid toward the front of the house on its way to the ground - today 3 peeps showed up and finally fixed the problem - I watched to make sure they didnt trash my house since the seperation isnt a whole lot, after climbing up the larger limbs with no safety equipment and a live chainsaw in hand *(most entertaining) they finally got down to the main trunk and decided to cut it and let it fall.... the "leader" decided that the two others would rope themselves to the top of the trunk and stand at the apex of the house and slow its decent.... they didnt slow it at all - it whipped both off the roof so fast and they both hit the ground so hard I am still kinda shocked that at least one of them isnt dead - If I woulda blinked I would have missed them going from the roof to the ground.... it was fassstt they kinda looked like projectiles from a catapult... Elderly woman dies after Bakersfield nurse "refuses" to do CPR
D22369 replied to jclalor's topic in Speakers Corner
I was more surprised they did not have an AED close and convenient. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the million dollar question, a facility like this should be required. CPR alone, without an AED within 3-5 minutes is almost worthless When I took the cpr/ first responder course in portland I was was shocked to find out how lousy the odds are for someone to survive just using cpr actually was - my exposure to cpr prior to an actual class was a crash course in boot camp many years prior and they didnt tell us anything other than how to perform it we have aed machines installed in every department at work, from what I have been told they have a much higher rate of success darned movies and tv make it look like cpr is always effective *unless the plot needs a dead victim anyhow Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... Something CLOSE to that once... Kinda sorta fell off of a rice burning crotch rocket at about 125 mph once... Bent me up pretty good, but when my SO & I went to the wrecking yard to get my keys & stuff off the bike, she saw it was a burned up mess sitting in 3 shopping carts...I got the 'me or a motorcycle' ultimatum from her. *** HAH!!! I had about the same thing happen but mine was a derailed chain that locked up the back wheel on a gentle sweeper at over 100 while making a run for our clubhouse on my Ducati the weekend I put it back on the street (still had racing pipes and slicks) - no license plate or anything, *some reason the sherrif wanted to talk to me bout something I somehow went over a ditch on the edge of the road and ended up going straight down a row of apple trees full of apples - I am here to tell you you dont ever want to do this, it was like what I imagine standing in front of a pitching machine throwing rocks would be like got it down to maybe 50mph before finally losing it on the wet grass and sliding forever right passed the farmer on his tractor. sherrif went right past the orchard n never saw me - guess the applesauce was good cammo farmers only comment before nearly falling down laughing was "that was cool!" once he quit laughing *(took a while) he helped me get the chain popped out from between the swingarm and the sprocket and I limped it home. my g/f went nuts and swore if I was going to ride this stupid on the street she was gone - I either put it back on the track or ride like I actually had a brain I believe is how she put it, after I quit being mad as hell I gave it a lot of thought and decided she was right and my off track hijinks were over. but if she would have told me to quit riding altogether I do believe she would have been told to hit the road. Spoiled brat. The majority of my jumps are out of a narrow body 182, over 1,000 of those were tandems. Suck it up cupcake and jump out of a real plane (a 182). *** its crazy how many peeps will turn down a day of jumping from a 182... spoiled is right I love 182's and 206's, the sound of the engine overworking scrabbling for altitude *(getting excited when we hit a thermal and get 900' per minute), bouncing round in those thermals and the time to chat with the other jumpers in my opinion forms a tighter bond than that of the turbine crowd I have done a ton of tandem video's and students out of 182-206's and love the small planes. Facts are: people love viewing violence. If you gave NFL players clubs, you wouldn't be able to even get in the stadium. Hollywood folk are hypocrits. They'll do anything to get on screen and make a few bucks even if it is against their beliefs. Half those movie stars are gun owners. *** you have something here... I find football boring as hell, now if you changed it to your version... I might even become a fan Roy Ps: fuck celebs that decide to make everyone listen to what they want to spew out, like anyone really cares what the alec baldwins of the world think... School Obama's Daughters Attend Has 11 Armed Guards

being ready and having a plan is not and far from "Living in fear"*** your wasting your time... you will never get the anti gun crowd to understand that statement there... none of them realize that it only takes being in the right place, wrong time and their lives can change at the whim of another. they all have the "but it hasnt happened yet so it never will mentality" Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... Not Andy ---> It seems to me that there has not been a time where America was more divided or society was as fragile as it is today. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Andy's reply ---> The time preceding and during our Civil War and post-war Reconstruction era (roughly 1840 - 1870) was undoubtedly worse. And as someone who lived through and remembers the civil rights conflicts and race riots of the 1960s, and the vicious debates and all the demonstrations (and sometimes riots or shootings like at Kent State) over the Vietnam War, I think the divisions in the US easily rivaled those of today. *** So reading the other post my imagination ran away from me and I truly wonder if we are as devided as in the 60's, but on to my silly question. ok, lets face it, the USA is in many ways very messed up, on the positive side, sexism and racism are at a low point, however we are tearing ourselves up on many issues *gun control comes to mind atm (gee, wonder why) lets totally depart from reality for a moment - imagine you were given the power to change one thing in reality, A thing, items/tools but no changing people however - what would be the most important thing that you would mould to your liking? - this effect would be worldwide so... magically removing all firearms? beer fountains everywhere? bring back twinkies? whatever you can imagine but just one thing, no add ons... and no using your ability to make others have the same ability. also put in what you imagine would be the ramifications of this change. my 'one' thing. *I love my guns, I own many and have my concealed carry permit, however ... I am tired of people inflicting harm on children and other innocents using the tools I carry for protection and fun. My one thing would be to make them all cease to function - gunpowder would no longer ignite, they would all become a heirloom/ paperweight to be handed down with story's of "back when" yes - this is a silly question but I really do wonder what others "single most important thing" would be so please indulge my curiosity. I also ask that when someone puts up an answer that others dont jump on them about it - we are departing from reality so anything is possible. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

previously served a 17-year jail sentence after being convicted of killing his grandmother." *** sounds like the crazy fucker was the morons who let him out. obviously this guy was totally safe to release from prison oh and in case you missed it, he was in prison, the offences that get you there generally carry with it the penalty of losing your gun rights. Yup, thats right - this guy wasnt allowed to have a weapon so he was breaking the law so what new law will you propose that would have actually stopped him from illegally owning a weapon? are we still on the pipe dream of banning all weapons? oh that will work.... as I am sure that all criminals will pay attention to THAT law. Which downsize first scared you?
D22369 replied to NeonLights's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Basically im just curious if and when your downsize actually scared the sh*t out of you*** I was working at eagle creek skydiving in Oregon and the owner had a small canopy hung up for inspection and said - go jump this n tell me if it flys ok. it didnt look very big hung up, so eyeballing it I was like....uhhh, ok, what is it? he replied its an 85 icarus fx I took in trade. uhhhh, I'm jumping a stiletto at 1.5 - 1 Ralph, that hankie will put me over 2-1 AND its xbraced... after enduring some nudging, name calling and general questions about my manhood - combined with some soul searching I finally decided to take it for a spin - I was experienced with swooping and CRW so.... after all people with half my jumps are flying these and can still walk I figured. geared up and waiting for the plane I got the worst case of the nerves ever.... walked over to Ralph and told him if it scared the shit outta me I was gonna chop it and he could go find it cuz I was going to follow the freebag. the pre jump nerves were horrible, I was second guessing myself all the way to 10k *(for a hop n pop) "what the fuck am I doing?" ran through my head many times... the opening, flight and landing were really good - the landing was straight in from 1k.... my mantra I had was "dont turn, dont build speed...no speed....full flight but no speed- followed by "holy shit this is fast!!!"- to a tiptoe landing (not what I had been expecting since there was only a 2mph wind) on my stiletto I had completed all billvon's checklist, but on this thing I was definately out of my comfort zone, it was a huge downsize plus a change in canopy type. I put three or four jumps on it that day then over 50 that month exploring its potential - doing so many hop n pops that everyone was laughing at me saying that i was scared to play with them -
same here. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

no guns = lives spared while guns = lives lost*** how are you going to get the guns out of criminals hands, all you will do is disarm law abiding people. prohibition didnt work - people still got alcohol war on drugs doesnt work - people still get drugs make the guns illegal and the only people that will have them are the criminals / military / and police if they were across the board made illegal they would still be available for purchase. countries that dont allow firearms still have gun deaths due to the prohibited weapons. that will never change I really wish there was a fix that would actually work that didnt have to involve armed guards, but I see no other option that would even have a chance of actually working I have a 10 yr old son and this shit scares the hell out of me. Roy I really hope the religious people are right and there is a hell and it truly lasts for eternity They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
