  3. I was at Barnes and Noble again tonight and my oldest daughter once again made me venture into the Science section of the store as that is her favorite besides the anime comics she reads. So while I was browsing I came across a book called Adam's Curse: A Future Without Men. I started thumbing through it and had to buy it. Has anyone read it and how do you feel about the possibility of becoming extinct if you are a man.. Book Description The inside story of the Y chromosome's fatal flaw, as told by one of the world's leading geneticists. Male reproductive fragility has been the subject of much highly publicized recent research. Is it possible, asked the New York Times, that men face extinction? Bryan Sykes examines the validity of these shocking reports, focusing on the defining characteristic of men: the Y chromosome in their DNA. Guiding his readers through chapters like "The Blood of Vikings" and "Ribbons of Life," Sykes masterfully blends natural history with scientific fact, elucidating the biology of sexual reproduction, modern genetics, and evolutionary biology. He reveals that, while the Y chromosome makes man's existence possible, it also carries within it the seeds of his destruction. Timely and fascinating, this major work covers a wealth of controversial topics, including whether there is a genetic cause for male greed, aggression, and promiscuity; the possible existence of a male homosexual gene; and what, if anything, can be done to save men from a slow, but certain, extinction. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1402582196/ref=pd_sl_aw_alx-jeb-9-1_book_5109709_1/104-8343398-1409510

  7. Hey.. you are taking over JRAF's job of giving out recipes. That stew sounds yummy.
  8. OMG... How could a mother do that to their own daughter? Wow. Not at you but at the mother.
  9. I totally agree with Ron here. I grew up in daycare..before school, afterschool. Summer vacations I spent in daycare or at the YMCA day camp, etc. My parents both worked full time and my Dad even commuted for a few years so I only saw him on weekends. Kenny will get to spend so much quality time with his child because of his financial situation. I say good for him..
  10. I heard about this on the radio. They said one of the reasons is that there are many more women in the workplace now as opposed to 20 years ago. More opportunities exist for her now besides the milkman..

  12. OH MY GOD... This is one of the first threads I remember when I was a lurker on dz.com. I was reading everything I could about skydiving and thought Sunshine and Val were world famous skydivers (obviously because they were going on tour...)who went around to different dropzones and you had to pay to jump with them..
  13. My daughter said she saw that on tv and that they got all the little baby ducks out.
  14. If you're going to be addicted to something, I guess exercise is a good one.. PS. I rollerblade or walk or run. I got sick of the gym and would much rather be outdoors. Pushups and situps at home. Not to mention extracurricular activities that burn calories as well.
  15. Well my husband(I call him this because we are still legally married and we are friends..) is deployed right now on the George Washington. He flies for the Navy and we email and talk regularly. This is part of an email I just got from him.. and they are scheduled to come home on time next month.. If something were going to happen he would snail mail me and tell me to expect them not to be coming home on time. Who knows what is going on but the GW is getting ready to come home. Just a quick hello note, hello! Everyone is very ready to get the hell out of here. Just a couple more weeks. I'm going over the beach today. Still feel very sorry for the guys on the ground, but TACAIR is just not what's needed here right now. Helicopters would be a much better option. Love, Shannon
  16. My girls went to Catholic school for three years and loved it. I loved it. Everyone knew each other and I never had such incredible communication with teachers. It was truely one big family. When we moved I will never forget how the entire school (which wasn't very big..one class per grade k-8) stood outside in the parking lot to say goodbye in unison to my girls. When they switched back to public school after we moved they could not believe the way the kids acted. The noise, the attitudes, etc. I believe that Catholic School gave my children a solid foundation on which to build on...either the teachings or fear of Sister Patricia..
  17. I linked that book in my earlier post but unlike you I couldn't wrap my head around it.. I ended up throwing it at the wall.

  20. Okay.. that made me laugh. We had an actress from South Korea come out to West Point while they were in town filming something or other. She wanted to skydive and ended up doing I believe 4 aff levels in one weekend. She called herself Jenny. One of our instructors asked why did she call herself Jenny when she is in the states...she said.."cause it's just easier for Americans..." LOL He joked that when she did her next jump he was going to change his name and tell her he wanted to make it easier for her.
  21. A was on Santa Barbara.. OMG... I know that...LOL
  22. That's a sexy ass plane Hopefully they'll have the tail painted up with some dog blue when I take the kids to see their Dad fly in from deployment next month. He and I have been separated for some time now but I'm still extremely proud of him as are his children.
