i totally agree Tom, holding off on internet discussion until the legalities are over is always the best route..no need to make a bad situation worse.. but i have tons of questions reguarding their ground prep (i'm not a BASE jumper yet, but have observed hundreds of hit and run rappels from buildings all over the US and your ground prep and egress route planning should always be very very high on your priority list ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Moving soon, wondering what's good around there

we were cueing using MTI radar, passing the tgts over the air, lots of our time was spend working out message parsing issues etc..the geek stuff. what was almost frightening is the way their tgt point created an MTI signature (very similar to the vehicles they were targeting) i could very nearly have them adjust fire based on radar returns alone. (not that i would want to be anywhere near the area they were engaging while doing so but..still fun) ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
anyone else doubt when the secrets of the universe will be revealed to a product made by parker brothers?

well we were TDY and living in the marriot on the beach, so life really sucked... we just worked out at duke most times doing target cueing and TTP for the gunships... one of the funner things i did in the army.. -
actually i was thinking of sticking one on the packing tents facing the landing area..have to figure out the logistics though, there arent alot of phone lines out there and i'm to lazy to set up a wireless lan out to it... hmmm have to ask..if Skydive AZ wants to pay for the bandwidth i've got the hardware.... (but you'll still miss all the real fun..maybe i should set up a camera to see who gets caught 'riding the beacon") ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

ive heard that qoute since the advent of digital (mostly from peeps trying to defend wet photography) and while true a pixel can and will be much smaller than the eye can see and therefore equal to film with the proper equipment. (expensive at the moment, unfortunatly) ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

why not? -never memorize anything you can look up. (A. Einstein paraphrased ) the real question is "do they know how to look it up?" ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

How to track 90 degree off jump run line?
Zenister replied to deaffreeflyer's topic in Safety and Training
IM(limited)O thus far, the ffers seem to track better than the belly fliers ive gone out with..the FF crowd at SkydiveAZ does regular dedicated tracking dives and on the occasions when belly fliers join us, we ussually have to slow it down or we lose them quickly. (with the exception of some of the skygods) there are several good landmarks at Eloy for tracking 90 deg, but in larger formations its pretty much track and scan like a mad man to make sure your not passing over anyone. disclaimer: not intended to start a "my discipline is better than your discipline arguement, just and observation based on lots (% wise) of tracking dives -
my goal is 100. ive got from the 21st to the 6th off, but i want to play with the stearman and a few balloons, so thoose will count as several 13$ tickets.. anyone else want in on a Dropzone.com Balloon load? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

i imagine the military helped initially and not to be morbid but IIRC the your SGLI (military life insurance) pays out for major disabilities (losing both leg counts i believe) not to mention there is probably some corporate backing for research and development of modern prosthetics ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

on TBS on the west coast at least. Just watched it. Dana Bowan GK jumping again and apparently training other amputees to jump as well. Some great technology there, but I’m more impressed with his strength and persistence scuba, biking, running, skydiving... seriously grabbing life.. very very cool.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

yeah i saw two on the range at Camp Shelby. the warrant i was with wondered what tail numbers they were. as far as i know the only ones left on on display Huachuca, Hood, HAAF, Humphreys, just to name a few...ive seen recently..i doubt theres much left of the targets.. aparently they used to jump out of the ARLs (the bird that replaced the Mohawk in Korea) at humphreys once. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
