lol. well thats entertaining for a while, but more so with some help, unfortunately i'm just not motivated to look for it right now... (and havent had much lately anyway the 'catch and release' program got tiring...particularly when one or two didnt take kindly to the 'release' part we agreed on. yah, Sunshine, i loved meeting everyone, hangin out a bit and jumping alot (although i didnt jump with enough with DZ.comers..bad Zen, must pay penance) but the crowd just annoyed me sometimes...i'm more of a small circles kinda person now...luckily there is no evidence of my past life to contradict me ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

no rig up here (yet) so i probably wont go jump, snow has sucked here lately, so i doubt i'll wander up to baker (where the only people i really know here (SEA/TAC) are) dont know the 'hot spots' and i'm not really a crowd type person anyways (thoose of you who met me at Eloy may have noticed so, any suggestions? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Anti-spoof is one thing. Jam proof is another. All you'd have to do is overpower them. That's a pretty low-tech solution to high-tech weapons. whether or not it's the smart thing to do for your people, that's another issue. exactly. without contact to at least 3 satellites your figure of merit is above 4 which translates to something like a 1000m error...yeeks.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

i dont know i HATED military static line jumps, i think the angle of landings may have changed the nature of the injuries, but maybe not the frequency (no statistics just babbling) watching all thoose accuracy canopies sink in and smack the mat hard really made me flashback to airborne.. i like my knees they help get me around ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

my point about the muslim was in relation to a statement to the effect of 'given the current climate we must all change our behavior to be more in line with a low key approach." i refuse to change my behavior or appearance because of someone elses ignorance. I will display my passions anywhere and everywhere i wish. Up until the point we officially stop being a free country, at which point i will have already died to prevent that event. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

not at all the burden of education is on the system that enforces the regulation, not on the individual travelling. Parachutes are expressly permited, only the ignorance of the screeners is an issue, not the method or attitude of the passenger. the anology holds because both misconceptions are the result of ignorance. i will not behave as anyone other than myself or hide who i am and what i do, simply because anyone else thinks i should, or fails to understand the actual regulations involved in travelling with my equipment. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

nope the only thing that tells you all that is the bible. that is religion. you are objecting to the christian god, which is not the same thing at all as God (if he/she/it) is out there.. i was once where you are. this does not imply better or worse the more i searched, the more i realized that there are significant differences between belief in divinity (spirituality) and dogma (religion & mythology) ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

just as a hypothetical question then, you would use deadly force to keep a dog from biting you? how about to keep someone from hitting / biting you? obviously not life threating situations, would you use deadly force?? there isnt alot of difference there, except for the fact that many people harbor internal fears of animals that they dont about humans and so overreact when confronted by them. there is also a difference between a solo officer dealing with a suspect and his dog vs multiple officers in the same scenario. i'm pretty sure one of the principles of law enforcement is to apply only the force necessary to defuse the situation. Shooting this dog was clearly unnecessary. I actually hope the family sues the individual responsible as well..actions should have consequences. The taking any life unnecessarily should be punished by more than a slap on the wrist by his superiors, and money taken from the tax players pockets. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

i'm surprised by this statement. after all, God created man after his own image. "if" you believe in the king james version of the good book that is. a perfect example of how short sighted and self centered the religions of man really are.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

ouch, that sucks dude.. seriously though when you get back up see if you can find a willing soul to film your landings and give you some advice. I'm sure there are a few around that would be happy to do it for a beer or two.. heal well.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

i have to disagree with this assessment, you are putting the 'blame' for any troubles on the shoulders of the jumpers and not the lack of education of the TSA screeners. this is akin to asking someone to be a 'nice quiet low key muslim' in the wake of recent events, and i cannot support it. I put my rig in gear bag because its more convenient to do so, if for packing reasons i needed to carry it on my back i would proudly. I refuse act like a nice compliant sheep just because the TSA has its head up its 4th point of contact. by possibly making a scene and pointing out the fallacy perpetuated by ignorant security personnel you may be making life more difficult for yourself in the short term, but better in the long run as the actual policies become better known. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

‘Deist’ is (I think) the classification for this, belief in a creator, but not in the dogma of worship. what you are objecting to then is religion, not god. Nothing in the beliefs you have expressed excludes the idea of a higher being. Religion tells you where you should and shouldn’t put your hands, god in all probability does not care about such petty issues.. IMO much of the counter reactions to belief in the divine stem from the repression and exclusionary dogma of the religions created by man. The religions used for thousands of years as a means of social control have done a disservice to belief in the divine. Btw without a higher source truth can never be objective. (not that I believe it is anyway) ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

absolutely. what i dont believe is mans dogma that claims to speak for her.. edit: yeah it would be nice if people would fill out thier profiles when they join so they dont appear like trolls. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

agreed, if the dog was actually threatening him. barking growling etc. dogs have very obvious 'warning signs' and very few dogs will actually lunge at humans unless trained to do so. Its pretty clear (to me and the family ive asked who have seen it) from the video that the dog was not threatening and that the officer overreacted. threat assesment is a training issue. the fortunate part is that it was only a dog. based on his reaction during this incident, this guy seems like an accident waiting to happen.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

yes, and ive worked and lived with police dogs as well (my father was 1st shirt for a K9 unit in the AF) so long as you are willing to kill, it is rather simple. You will very likely be injured but thats about it. Even large rotwilers (thoose with the heaviest neck muscles) are rather easy to disable, particularly once they latch on to your arm at that point you have all the leverage (more stable position and its own body weight as a lever, basic judo) you need to break its neck, or shove your hand the rest of the way down its throat and choke it. Hell if you have the will to do so its not difficult to put your hand thru its neck, no gun necessary. most people severely underestimate their own lethality. it all comes down to a commitment to take a life in defense of your own. most people have never thought thru such situations, and or are unwilling to kill. for a police officer not to have trained and understand these kinds of situations is inexcusable ps. last time i checked being bitten on the arm was not a life threatening injury and i have often been told i'm nuts.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

your right dogs have killed people in the past, generally people who were smaller, unaware, or unwilling to harm the dog to stop it. A healthy able adult should never be really threatened by any dog. trained attack dog or not. they are simply too easy to disable by a human. will you get hurt doing so? yes. will you die? no. not unless you let it happen. most cases of dogs killing humans are either in packs, small children, elderly, or someone who would/could not defend themselves. (they let fear rule and so become prey) an armed aware police officer in the company of other armed police officers is NOT in a life threatening situation or even a slightly threatening one. Im not complaining about the dogs death so much that there is an armed and 'trusted' member of the law enforcement community who has such poor training and judgment. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
