Please don't take this the wrong way, but that assignment is inane. i wouldn’t call it inane, the point in a 102 class is to learn how to organize your thoughts, research and express them effectively.. I DONT like the way he is attempting to include social lessons as part of the course, but that could just be the 'reader' the class is using.. its annoying how much 'social philosophy' is insinuated in courses that has nothing to do with the subject that the student is supposed to be learning PS.. your WAAAAAY behind apparently.. your not supposed to get to that level of procrastination till your a senior at least.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

to easy, but i wont do it for you .. i will suggest a topic you can use dz.com as a resource for..lord knows we've beat it to death a few times. "Personal responsibilities in flight, purchase, and marketing of high performance canopies." if you cant get 2000 words out of that your not trying at all..... edit: just read your attempt. IMO your setting yourself up by picking an extremely broad topic you will only be able to superficially address in the length of assignment you've been given... that is NEVER a good thing. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

fortuantely he's not the only one, or even the only service member.. a great many people (and many are soldiers and vets of more conflicts than this) strongly disagree with the current administration's approach.. I for one certainly wish we had a better replacement for Bush than Kerry, but our political system is so completely screwed that isnt the case.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Where???? That would be a cool ass dive anyway. Lake Martin in Alabama.. its a man made lake so there are a few 'towns' beneath it too.. apparently it crashed during a training mission shortly after the war. The guns were stripped long ago, but it's definitely a eerie feeling when it 'emerges' out of the muddy water ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

See that's my problem. I got spoiled on Grand Cayman. Diving quarries with some sunked speedboats and cars just doesn't seem as fun. i know where there is a B-17 in 55 feet of water. unfortunately visability is under 5 feet on a GOOD day ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

accepting that some of your soldiers will lose their lives in combat is a far different thing from treating them as pawns simply to be traded in exchange for enemy soldiers. In war you make the enemy pay dearly for every single soldier you have. Every soldier who survives a battle can fight in the next and gains practical knowledge from each engagement, which increases their value as combatants. Trading thousands of troops in exchange for thousands of troops of your opponents is simply stupid. Particularly when in you never start out with exactly equal forces in the real world. In fact not bringing over whelming force to bear against the enemy is also stupid. In chess its cheating. In war there is not such thing. In chess you gladly trade pieces evenly (or even unevenly if it achieves a winning strategic advantage to do so) so long as you have a superior position, because in the end game, how many pieces you have left isn’t as important as where they are on the board. Perhaps you should spend ALOT more time studying the practical applications of modern strategic theory before you open your mouth to insert another foot, do you even know the definition of ‘asynchronous warfare’? Can you explain why it is significantly more effective than ‘traditional’ methods of warfare? Do you have any military experience (in theory or practice) at all? War is not chess, chess certainly teaches basic strategic concepts, but it is extremely limited in its relation to the scope and conduct of modern warfare. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Arguments for (or against) the existence of God
Zenister replied to scottbre's topic in Speakers Corner
not hardly. In this instance you are far to tied to the 'charlton heston' personification vision of God the Christians accept.... there are certainly a great many more concepts of God than this and a great many people who believe them. Dont pigeon hole anyones belief or the nature of the question they might be asking you by defining it in such narrow concepts, that is part of the problem many people have with 'God' in the first place.. they cant accept one idea (the one forced apon them by the institutions they were raised in) and havent yet broken themselves out of that narrow concept to explore any other.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
i'm not disagreeing that war is sometimes necessary. However treating your assets, your soldiers as if they are simply material that is to be traded away in exchange for your enemies is a piss poor way to conduct it. If you have little or no pieces left at the end of the game you might have won that engagement, but you have nothing left with which to fight the next. US military doctrine has long since evolved beyond such primitive thought. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

good thing your not a military leader, that line of thinking went away shortly after waterloo.... War is not chess. Fighting War like a chess game where you trade your peices away is a good way to lose and a colossal waste of resources... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

actually the analysis said that, the intel showed something else entirely when it was looked at again by those NOT looking soley for a justifiction for war, but instead looking at the information as given. there is a great deal of difference between intel and analysis. The administration used the analysis that agreed with their intent, and ignored everyone else... sort of like CBS and Dan Rather... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

not quite, i made the claim that a great many of the characters in the bible often exhibited behaviors and attitudes that would now be described as psychotic or pathological. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -

nope. i said it was a bad move then too, as did quite a number of military leaders, all were overridden by civilian officials. Your alarmist cry has been heard before, but the fact is he had no active NBC agents (they were all inert by that time, somewhere i have an unclassified DOD .ppt i'll post that specifically talks about lifespans and storage requirements) nor did he have the means to produce them. He was absolutely contained, with no ability (as suspected by a great number of international expert who and has now been verified) to produce WMD and apparently (as we've yet to find anything significant) no existing WMD either. Invading at the time we did without greater world support was a bad move period. Waiting would have been more tedious but it would have also been much more effective. If we'd waited we'd have had international support, another years worth of additional build up, intel and planning time, and the exact same security conditions for the US that we have now. In fact it would likely be better, we'd have less people who hate us. The only thing the war has done to increase security is give the terrorists a US target in their backyard. The 'bugzapper' theory of defense is a nice idea in theory, but it is a poor use of troops when your hands are tied by a political situation and an environment that creates more collateral civilian damage (in terms of lives and credibility) than it does effective attrition of your real enemy. I agree he was absolutely in violation of the UN resolution, however we went to war without the UN and they have since condemned us for exactly that... "illegal" war etc... We are now in violation of the UN. i suppose Canada could attack and justify it by saying we were a known world aggressor who violated UN regulations and that would be ok with you?? politically GWB expected (based on his father's previous experience in Iraq) for this conflict in Iraq to be over and done with by the time he was up for reelection. He would then be riding the 'great savior' wave.... unfortunately he and his civilian advisors did not listen to the military experts who told him it would not be that easy at all, until it was obvious they were right... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
