actually the fact that it is a much more common occurrence, in a wide variety of places and means shows there is a higher chance of it happening to YOU... i'd imagine that would justifiably create more public fear than a spectacular 'one off' attack that fundamentally changed the way the average American viewed terrorists... of course the American public is apparently still afraid of kniting needles and lighters as well, so its not so difficult to imagine why the sheep continue to approve of and even intentionally vote away, their rights in exchange for a feeling of greater security everytime a scary shadow crosses the grass........ ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -

FYI..., Fear and Loathing is the ONLY Gilliam movie you can still get on DVD/VHS the rest are out of print... fuck hollywood.... 12 Monkeys? Time Bandits? The Adventures of.......? Brazil? All out of print? yup... i just started trying to update my Gilliam collection (ive got TB and Brazil on VHS) and discovered they cannot even be ordered thru major outlets.. i've been hunting thru used CD/DVD places and managed to find 12 Monkeys on VHS only (and i'm going to have to get a VCR to watch any of them again ) but otherwise they are unavailable.... if i can find them in rental stores on DVD i'm tempted to pay their exporbant 'lost' fees just to have them... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Is that armor going to stop the North Korean missile before it reaches San Francisco? ? No, and neither is the so-called "Missile Shield" for reasons that have already been adequately explained. Your crystal ball of pessimism is in fine working order. A development system under test on a launch pad performs an automatic shutdown for reasons not yet known and you say it'll never work. Automatic shutdowns are there to save the vehicle for future tests if something is out of kilter. All that was lost is some time and a test target. The people have spoken, they want the administration to set this as a goal.

Not in an airplane. If a someone is hijacking an airplane with a gun, you kill him. If he has a knife, you kill him. No warning, no discussion, no hesitation...just shoot him. The best way to kill bad guys in an airplane is with a pistol, not a knife. and you miss the point.. its much harder to effectively use a gun at a distance of less than 5 feet than it is a knife...guns are very useful, very lethal items... in the right enviroment, with the right circumstance..... you dont use a 155 mm howitizer at less than 500m either... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

the modern stuff with the SAPI (spelling Ceramic plate inserts) is much more comfortable and provides better protection..... of course i do know people who still put civilian kevlar vests on underneath.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

mostly yes... although perhaps i'm more argumentative here (online) than in person... in person i'm usually focused on something else... what ever the reason/person i'm there for.. online... particularly in the SC the point is debate and discussion... you wont find me bringing up most things i person that we talk about in the SC, as there is (usually) something far better to be doing instead.... also tone and sarcasm do not come across as well in text only formats as they do in real discussions, so on occasion things here are taken in a manner that would not happen in real life do to sublties in body/facial expression.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -

I don't know, the fight over the lake was pretty impressive. ja i enjoyed that one the most... apparently it took 20 days to shoot that one scene.. there is only 2 hours a day when the lake is that smooth and glassy.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
