  1. It may help, but in my humble opinion, the best option is to quit jumping the Sabre. There are much better opening canopies today and the risk of injury from hard openings is not worth it. The Sabre has a long and well documented reputation for hard openings. A quick search of the forums may be helpful. "Science, logic and reason will fly you to the moon. 2. Apparently delivery times have not improved. Ordered a Safire2 in April, now they're saying it won't be delivered until August. I'll know better next time, I guess. 4. "Bone Marrow Transplant" Today usually means "Stem Cell Transplant" It is pretty rare that they go into the bones with needles anymore. For the Donor, it usually involves 4-5 days of receiving"granulocyte colony stimulating factor"- simply a shot in the arm each day. This is followed by the harvest, which is done through pheresis. This usually takes 5 hours and is similar to dialysis. Using an IV,they take blood out, centrifuge out the stem cells and return the rest of the blood through a second IV. The Donor's body replaces its stem cells very quickly. A shot a day for 5 days and spending half a day in pheresis is a small sacrifice considering the donation will literally save a life. I had a stem cell transplant in June using my own stem cells(autologous) and will have another one next month using a donors stem cells(allogeneic) Hope this answers your questions, please feel free to PM me if you have any other questions. 6. The remote record switch looks like it would be exposed to unintentional activation. Beyond that, it looks like a good product. "Science, logic and reason will fly you to the moon. Religion will fly you into buildings." "Because figuring things out is always better than making shit up."

  8. Mike Cook....Quadraplegic, and a Chaplin at a local hospital. The ash dive for our Son. Did a tandem with my wife and she released his ashes in freefall. Blues! 9. Thank You! Now....Who else has hardware pics?
  10. I was doing a Tandem with a girl I had taken up 8 times before. Left the plane doing backflips, Got stable, grabbed the drogue handle, and my arm came apart. Lots of pain and the arm wasn't working. It felt like I had extracted the drogue about halfway, and waited a moment to see if the wind was going to take it, but it didn't. I deployed the reserve at 8,000ft. My student was confused because she was supposed to deploy the main on this jump. I told her I had a problem with my arm and that I had deployed the reserve. I told her we were going to relax for a moment and took inventory of what was working for us. I told her that I was going to talk her through flying and landing us. She listened very carefully and did exactly what I told her, it was just like radioing down a first jump student. She is to be commended for remaining calm throughout the jump. She didn't quite have enough strength to flare much, but enough that we didn't sustain any more injuries. We did roll over my arm on landing which was no fun whatsoever. The break was caused by cancer-Multiple Myeloma. I had had some pain in my elbow, which was initially thought to be tennis elbow. I consider myself lucky, as the break clued us into the cancer pretty early. I am currently in treatment for the cancer, and my arm is healing nicely. The break occurred January 6, and I was able to jump again (solo, of course) on April 28. Didn't mean to hijack the thread, just wanted to encourage people to post their hardware pics...
  11. It happened at a hell of a time, too-Just as I reached back to throw the drogue on a tandem. "Science, logic and reason will fly you to the moon. Religion will fly you into buildings." "Because figuring things out is always better than making shit up."

  17. I used to be a Fly Fishing instructor. Trout were my favorite, Bass were fun, Bluegill protecting their beds were a blast(they're not feeding, they're attacking anything that gets close.) Salmon/Steelhead when I could travel. Never fished for Tarpon, but that's supposed to be the ultimate on a Fly Rod. I miss it, but not really enough to take any energy away from skydiving right now. 18. I have known for a long time that my wife feels it's in her interest to be married to a happy man. Skydiving is my passion, and she understands how lucky I am to have found that passion so early in life and pursue it as fully as I have. It would be hard to imagine her asking me to give it up. That being said, however, If she came to me and said that my skydiving was truly making her unhappy, and asked me to stop, I would stop. Right now. I can find a new passion. ymmv....
