heheh that is funny... wonder who he is mooning Bill have fun, love life, be nice to the humans
  6. Maybe he is aware, and maybe he would appreciate a few kind words, spoken just like you were talking to him not at him... I bet he doesn't get much of that. best wishes Bill have fun, love life, be nice to the humans
  7. Don't even say anything... just go... your family will know where you are and understand... Bill have fun, love life, be nice to the humans
  8. my sabre 170 loaded exactly the same, i have jumed it about 100 times and it has never had a hard opening. but i have heard others say the same thing about them opening hard sometimes. Maybe you should just go back to packing for yourself... heheh Bill have fun, love life, be nice to the humans
  9. cool for you then... but the mirage with a hand deploy has a springless pilot chute packed into the main container the pin is on the bridal though and you would pull a handle first, releasing the pin from the closing loop and then the pilot chute comes out of the main container... sounds like that is what they are talking about to me. 10. could have... but BOC is what it is refferred to way more often, well where i am, i have never really heard anyone say i got a new rig with a hand deploy.. but then i am sure it is just a little different everywhere.. whatever makes you happy. Bill have fun, love life, be nice to the humans
  11. i would have said ROL i am sure... but really that is what it is generally called, don't you agree, and i know that all of them have a pilot chute, heheh that is just funny. Bill have fun, love life, be nice to the humans
  12. yes i was referring to the hand deployment system as BOC, to differentiate from rip cord types and yes that is bottom of container and the pilot chute is what you put in it. I used to live in Mississippi, but i got over it. Bill have fun, love life, be nice to the humans
  13. I am pretty much with everyone else here, the camera guy did what he was supposed too and the girl did not follow the dive plan. It does sound like she should maybe reconcider her abilities and correct their actions accordingly. Maybe do nationals in a couple of years and lots more jumps. I also agree that the camera guy probably should not have yelled at her, but he was just nearly killed so i will give him a pass on losing his temper. Bill have fun, love life, be nice to the humans
  14. Man i so get that is the natural human reaction thing, but we form those reactions doing natural human things, not flying. When you plf you should be hitting on your shoulder and not your face, heheh but then i am sure you have figured that out. Is the landing area asphalt, dude that is a harsh landing surface anyway, good you didn't break more bones... Still all in all, gotta love the stick to it atitude you have. Really once you stand one or two up you will start to see what you did and just keep doing the same thing... Think about a canopy control class or two as soon as you can, they really help. much luck to you. Bill have fun, love life, be nice to the humans
  15. Perris Valley Skydiving rocks, I am sure that you can find pretty much any kind of training you want there, it is a big DZ (#2 in the country). There is another DZ right by there Elsinore, it is pretty cool as well. Or do you want names of specific people there? http://www.skydiveperris.com I am pretty sure is their home page and it should lead you where you want to be... have fun, let me know if you need more specifics. 16. Good for you for keeping trying. The best thing i could think of would be to watch the wind sock not just on the ground but in the air, and if you find your self coming in downdwind... keep flying all the way down and PLF, keep your feet and knees together and when they are on the ground cross your hands over you chest, don't grab the ground with anything and just let the PLF happen. The flight isn't over till you stop moving. Good luck, Bill have fun, love life, be nice to the humans
  17. I had the same problem for quite a few jumps.. you can't lean forward at all really, unless you want to go backwards, what finally helped me was to try and push forward with my hips and use them for forward and backwards movement trying to keep your back straight the whole time... and don't look down at first look at the horizon I don't know what all can work but what finally worked for me was to just push my hips the way you want to go, and 90 degree angles on everything else... have fun, Bill have fun, love life, be nice to the humans
  18. Doesn't it just rock when that happens, I am working on cartwheels out and back into a sit, it is just more fun every time. Bill have fun, love life, be nice to the humans
  19. Sell that puppy and get what you are going to use the most.. if you decide to go back to RW you deserve to have to buy another RW suit
  20. I have no idea who DToXX is, i see no posts from anyone by that name in this thread.. If ScottCargill is from Taft, CA. I don't really care. If he is just setting up the post, i don't care either... If that is the case i hope a new guy sees it and learns something, that is the goal anyway, right? 21. I am saddened everytime one of us dies... I am so sorry for you loss and wish you, his family and the rest of his friends comfort and peace... I will raise a glass with you in his honor from here. Love to all that he left behind. Bill have fun, love life, be nice to the humans
  22. In my fjc they said to try and fix it just like that. Good job, well except for not following the dircet command of the jump master.. alls well that ends well i guess. Bill have fun, love life, be nice to the humans
  23. good point Rich, and every second you fight a lost cause canopy is time you could be fixing something on your reserve, or finding your landing spot after you loose altitude from the cutaway and very likely can't make it back to the DZ. Bill have fun, love life, be nice to the humans
  24. I am not sure about a regulation but in the SIM Section 3.1-D (2001 version) it lists the License privileges and Requirements, and under A it says 1. Persons holding a USPA A license may pack their own mains, engage in basic group jumps, perform water jumps and must have a) completed 20 freefall jumps b) completed all requirements listed on the USPA A license Proficency Card. And section 2-1-E-6-b states "All students engaging in group freefall jumps must be accompanied by a USPA coach or higher rating holder (except tandem instructor) until the student has obtained a USPA A license. So for my money there is a regulation against just that kind of jump. they are there for a reason. Bill have fun, love life, be nice to the humans
  25. easy to believe. We did AFF but at SDD SDU jumps are required after AFF to before you get your license, 6 now i think, there were only 3 required when i went to AFF there. Bill have fun, love life, be nice to the humans
