  1. I did AFF at Skydive Dallas and it was very well done as far as I could tell. I would say it was a very satisfactory experience for me. They handled everything professionally and all they made me do after AFF was this responce and 4 more glowing reviews on DZ.com and I can get my license. Welcome to the sky... 2. I don't think that the excitement goes away, but if the butterflies are nerve induced that will go away. There are so many things that can happen once you get out of the plane that you always have to be mindful of what is going on around you, but it is not worry as much as just trying to be ready I think. Welcome and blue skies... hey I have a friend, Pete, in London that skydives if you see him say hi for me. Bill have fun, love life, be nice to the humans
  3. I got video of several early jumps. like AFf 3 and 5 i think and it was very helpful in showing me where I was screwing up. I think that is the best tool you can have sometime for seeing exactly what is up, you can even get others to look at it for you, like your instructors or coaches at the DZ. Welcome to the sky, be careful. Bill have fun, love life, be nice to the humans
  4. Cool like 1 day old and nudie pics on the internet already. congratulations on your arrival to the planet, go ahead play with it at your leisure. Bill have fun, love life, be nice to the humans
  5. Ok never say never I guess. But I know several people that have jumped way more than you or I and manage to land without doing high performance landings or jumping extreme wing loadings. All bugs don't bite all people. Don't get me wrong I love to watch them, a kick ass hook and a long swoop landing is sweet to watch, but I have seen them not work too and I think I will continue to pass. 6. I have just over 200 jumps and my 135 Sabre is wingloaded at 1.2 to 1. I changed to the 135 from my 170 Sabre at about 180 jumps. I can picture jumping the 135 for several hundred jumps. I don't do, and have no intrest in, high performance landings. I do think that those that want to do them should get training and weigh the risks, then do what they want as long it does not put others at risk. Our DZ has a seperate area for high performance landings, that seems to let them play and keeps others out of harms way, works for me. Bill have fun, love life, be nice to the humans
  7. I will keep my wrist mount, and my audible, with me anytime I am skydiving. There is no logic whatsoever to thinking you should not have an altimeter with you while learning to judge what the ground looks like at a certain altitude. And really how do you know if you were right or not if you are on your first few jumps? You would not have a reference point from which to compare. Bill have fun, love life, be nice to the humans
  8. what a fun time, I bet I watched my tandem video over 100 times. It is cool after you get a few more videos, and 100 jumps or so, you will pull that tandem video out and watch it, and it will just be funny Welcome to the sky. Bill have fun, love life, be nice to the humans
  9. Perris Rocks... Bill have fun, love life, be nice to the humans
  10. Welcome, blah blah...should do gear and rigging. Also ask around your DZ, you list San Diego as your home DZ but your location as just south of Houston... both have really big DZ's near them, ask around and maybe if it is available you could demo both and see which you feel better under. It really is one of those, can't ask too many questions situtations. be safe. Bill have fun, love life, be nice to the humans
  11. well i will have to just do that sometime. sounds like a fun place, not like our little DZ, all we have is bunk rooms, a deli, two indoor packing areas (no ac), all of north Texas to land in, an Otter, a Caravan and a little 182, I used to think that we had the most friendly people in the world but clearly they are in Houston. 19. So sad for his family and for us all. It never mentions jump number, or if any handles were out at all. It feels like a high number of fatalities for this year, be careful out there people. as for gloves,,, i can't stand to not be able to get my hands in my toggles easily and quickly, I wear only gloves with open fingers. Works for me. Bill have fun, love life, be nice to the humans
  20. Glad to hear you are ok. do you think that you just didn't pitch well enough on the intitial deployment? We had a student do that at our DZ and he just basically pulled the pilot chute out and let go instead of tossing it out and it went straight into his burble and stopped. Good thinking and flying all the way to the ground. Bill have fun, love life, be nice to the humans
