  1. Ha also has about 340 hours of freefall. That's over 2 weeks!
  2. look at the first post, i think it says it is based off of that It also says it's different
  3. What are the similarities and differences between Skyhook and Sorcerer BASE system? The idea looks similar. Bart
  4. Oh my God... Could you have made it more expensive? Or did you purchase every available cost option? What options???
  5. Cheapest freefly container? Fully loaded and tie-dyed Mirage G4!
  6. What I like about Robnyk is the "Standard Mount" shown here: http://www.gear-store.com/product.php4?Category=Skydiving&product=45 Does anybody know if you can get the Standard Mount without Robnyk Sapphire? Can you use this Standard Mount with Altimeter Galaxy?
  7. Monket-fist no-slip handle is great too!
  8. There was a fatal incident on my drop zone in the 80's while doing similar activity (car pulling the skydiver and a parachute). Basically, couple of guys set up a competition who gets higher being towed by the car. In result, each of them was wearing a chest altimeter with the metal plate serving as its base (the metal plate was positioned parallely in relation to your body). One jumper's parachute collapsed at about 60 ft and he fell to the ground. His chest hit the ground first and the ground pushed the thin metal plate into his chest, cutting his aorta. Hi died. So, think twice before you do a similar stunt...
  9. Here it is: http://miragesys.com/RTS.html
  10. Ok, but this argument brings the question "who is gonna check the checker"? The second packer can mess up, not only the first one (i.e. second packer can leave the molar strap in). Just logical reasoning.
  11. I heard PD was developing slider stops/bumpers for SLINKS. Anybody knows any details on that one? That would be a good solution for people who have SLINKS and Type 17 risers, and don't want the slider to come past links (for a chance of dislocating toogle(s), landing on your face, etc.). Bart
  12. Maybe that's how thay die?
  13. I quess parachutes are not the only passion of Dan Poynter... http://www.parapublishing.com/subsites/cat/products.html It is a subpage of http://www.parapublishing.com Bart

As soon as you get it, post the pictures of it!
  16. Thank you for this great information!
  17. I know Dacron lines stretch more during opening than Spectra/Microline (thus lowering the opening shock a little bit). My question is: how much does a Dacron line attached to canopy stretch during opening? One inch, 1/10th of an inch? How much? Bart
  18. Should be easy enough to find someone who had a pro-track on the 300 way, and ask what the fall rate was. Yes, NASA scientists calculated, that if 200 people linked in freefall, they could land without opening their parachutes. All without using wingsuits; just normal RW jumpsuit. **** The trick here is that there must not be any gaps (or 'holes') in the formation - just body next to body creating a continues surface. Imagine whatching a successful attempt - 200 people descending slowly as a human canopy and landing unharmed! *****
  19. It was mentioned in one of Leo Dickinson (sp?) books. I don't remember the title, unfortunately...
  20. Actually, I was refering to container side flaps, not secondary riser covers.
  21. Yes, I did, and I prefer Mirage G3/G4 over Vector 3/Micron because of the following: 1.) I like Mirage reserve pilotchute (with mesh) more than Vector's. 2.) Reserve cover flap on Mirage tucks in in the way that it cannot be snagged by line. Vector's reserve cover flap also tucks in, but in a different way, and it CAN be snagged by the line (in a CRW wrap, for example). 3.) Mirage offers hip rings. Vector does not. 4.) Mirage has on option of having smaller matal reserve handle. 5.) Also, I was always wondering... If you look at Micron's picture (attached) you can see that the container side flaps cover more reserve container area than on other rigs. I was always wondering if that would not make the extraction of the freebag more difficult if the jumper would deploy his/her reserve head down with total malfunction (main conatiner still closed). Any thoughts? BTW, I think Vector 3/Micron is a great rig and I know it is TSO'd. I am just looking for a perfect rig
