  1. So basically he doesn't think it performs any better/worse than a regular XF2? Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  2. I set myself to not make it out (the bank is 1 foot+ now as we haven't had any rain). Unexpectedly though I made it all the way to shore but set my feet down in the water at the bank. Canopy didn't touch water
  3. Don't you wear a spandex shirt? And drive a Porsche!! See ya soon man! Performance Designs Factory Team
  4. This is just a reminder to all those who post here, as well as those who would like to post here but dont (perhaps feel like since the focus of this forum tends to be swooping), that ALL canopy questions are welcome. So, if you're a jumper with 2 jumps trying to figure out canopy stuff, or a jumper with 10000+ skydives trying to tweak and refine techniques - you are all welcome, and encouraged, to post your questions or advice. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  5. Has anyone heard how the surgery went? I called last night and left a voicemail but I don't expect to hear back anytime soon. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  6. That right there sums up my thoughts on the issue. Blues, Ian ps: And yes Chuck you're old. But hey, so is Joe Bennett
  7. I agree and that may be true to some degree, but I also know of a few people who died after canopy incidents because of swelling on the brain. Do I think the helmet is going to prevent that happening 100%, no - but I definitely believe it ups my chances in that scenario so I see no reason not to wear something impact rated. Also, it's a hell of a lot cheaper than a skydiving helmet (60 bucks) but if you're doing anything other than hop n pops its not a practical helmet. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  8. errrrr.....it's so sad to see the mind go so young Performance Designs Factory Team
  9. On that note I have never, ever, quite seen a canopy aerial videographer/photographer like JC. The man is amazing. Performance Designs Factory Team
  10. Well, I'm sure some of you know that the 'other site' has a thread about swooping head gear. I'd like to see the same thing happen here, if for no other reason than to start getting people thinking more seriously about protecting their noodles. So....what do you jump, and why (I jump a Pro Tec Ace Spade)? Do you consider the possibilty of head injury as a serious one? Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  11. I cropped the pic to make it look better (you can see the helmet a little better too). It's a Pro-tec Ace Spade Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  12. Yep dude. I'm taking the possibilities of head injury very seriously. It might not be the prettiest thing out there but it works and it's crash rated! Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  13. Some fun at The Farm this weekend with Ted (Velopilot) and Larry. And yes, I got the boomerang back up over my head with plenty lift to spare
  14. True, but you could definitely make the argument that a steep trimmed wing, even with the distortion of the canopy, is capable of the same (or further) flight compared to a flat trimmed wing. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  15. Then there's little point to the discussion, no? If we can't compare because they're different canopies?
  16. If it's a workhorse I'd have PD put the 500 HMA on it. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  17. I too have seen Stu do "The Tripod". I wonder when it'll become known as his signature move? There are easier ways to become a Eunich
  18. You bastard..... And yes Performance Designs Factory Team
  19. Yes folks, and it looks badass. I wasnt too thrilled when I heard they were making it, but I think this is going to be a really FUN movie for the summer. http://movies.yahoo.com/summer-movies/Transformers/1808716430 Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  20. We'll be there.... Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  21. Yeah, I'm with Stu. I'd love to come up but the PST and Nats is that time period. Factor that in with The Ranch and there are just too many meets crushed together at the same time Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  22. There is a common MIS-conception out there that steep trim means you can't glide as far. Of course if you don't do anything other than release the brakes this is true, but as you mention, simply adding a little rear riser, or toggle (depending on the canopy) will make it go just as far (if not further) than a flat trim canopy. Keep spreading the gospel Johnny!
  23. Amen. Greg was scarey as hell on 05 at the champs
