  1. I can't see why you blame Vista for not working when the software you're trying to install isn't a Vista compatible version (I'm assuming). It's the same mentality of those who bash Vista because of bad drivers written by companies like *cough*creative labs*cough*
  2. Agreed. But of course it's just much easier to attempt and regulate the problem away, without looking at what the root of the problem really is. Not just the results of it. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  3. I disagree with you. How can you know enough about the dynamics of the environment you're proposing if you don't understand it in the first place? It isn't only about seperate landing areas, it's about how those areas intersect in patterns, pattern direction, flight paths, and the necessary safety buffers required around those to make it work - and that's just to start with off the top of my head. Unless you have an obnoxiously large landing area these are some issues you will have to deal with. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  4. I agree. If someone hasn't dedicated part, if not all, of their skydiving career to learning canopy flight, how are they qualified or equipped to think of all the ways flight around the HP area can effect both the HP and the non-HP pilots? Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  5. Bill, that's not the point. The point is that if they are in, or around, the HP area they are an incredible danger to themselves and those doing HP landings. Performance Designs Factory Team
  6. Depends on which edge and how they get there. IMO they should be dealt with as harshly as a pilot doing HP's in a non HP area. For all intents and purposes it should be a no-fly zone. Performance Designs Factory Team
  7. Not one on that list are any HP Canopy Pilot that I know of or have met (not to say that means they aren't). Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  8. Thanks to everyone who put this on. It was good see our good friend remembered in this way. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  9. John, Sorry to hear about the camera. Since I barely use mine anymore you're welcome to use it when I don't need it. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  10. I had no idea that was you at The Farm this past weekend. If I'd have known I'd have come over and said hi. See you around soon, and next time I'll introduce myself. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  11. Absolutely but the sample I took did start in 2004 and was worldwide. Still, hope your chinese calendar is wrong
  12. And at my old home dz it's the opposite. Almost everyone except students are doing at least 90+ Your example, while interesting, still has no bearing on the fact that over 50% of the fatals were between NON swoopers. Of the swooper fatalities MOST were between 2 swoopers. If you remember, this uproar was because of a 'swooper' hitting a non-swooper. My question was, and still is, why people continue to ignore that seperate landing areas wouldn't have solved the majority of the fatalities over the last 4 years? Now, as usual, a bunch of you will read this as me supporting turns in a landing pattern or other nonsense. I don't, so try and keep your eye on the ball when you reply. Honestly I think it's largely because of those who share the 'end of story' mentality. It's your responsibility too, regardless of what turn you do or don't do. Gee that's nice - I never said they were Performance Designs Factory Team
  13. You won't hear me argue against keeping it entirely closed to 1k and all the seatbelts are off. Performance Designs Factory Team
  14. Since the "problem" is one that has killed a bunch of people in the last few months, that is fine with me. Having been in one canopy collision at 100' agl, I like a place that puts landing safety (my well being) first. I don't see any priority of your fun over my life. Kallend, as someone who's always interested in proving statistics and trends, I find it interesting that you conveniently ignore the last few years showing over 50% of the fatalities were non-swoopers. Any particular reason for this? Performance Designs Factory Team
  15. I would agree with that statement. Obviously a very talented individual! Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  16. Yes it can; it adds drag. This is the be all and end all to the question in my mind. I am in 100% agreement. I HATE open doors on take off no matter how hot it gets. If the pilot looses an engine I'd rather have the forces working FOR us instead of against us. edit: Of course cracking the door a few inches is acceptable IMO. 17. Now....can he do it over water in a comp where it counts
  18. Very impressive freestyle. Performance Designs Factory Team
  19. I agree with that. I wholeheartedly disagree with Bill that flying in 1/4 brakes is better. Now, should the canopy actually collapse then sure, do whatever you need to with the toggles, but until it does flying at full glide speed is best IMO, and my experience after lengthy discussions with PD test jumpers as well as Scott Miller. 20. Now that you've taken on the Canopy-Nazi role from myself down at SDA you'll realize why neither of us will ever 'be cool' Funny how unpopular trying to keep your friends alive can be Performance Designs Factory Team
  21. Tim, Love the mentor idea. Since I'm still not cleared by the Dr to jump, I'd be happy to talk canopy to anyone who'll listen
  22. I pack my velo in 5 minutes if I want to (RDS excluded). No opening issues yet. Blues. Performance Designs Factory Team
  23. I'll be there. Is there more than one dz in the area? If so, which one is it at? Performance Designs Factory Team
  24. Weather hold last I heard from Dee. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
