  1. Guys, If you want to explore the science behind canopy collapses and trim types for canopies - lets do it in a different thread
  2. It is certainly possible to come to a zero horizontal speed under a Sabre 135 on a nil wind day. You might want to get a rigger to check the length of your brake lines, or get some video of your landings - maybe you're not using all your flare? The most likely cause of this is incorrect flare technique and spending too long in the 'plane out' phase leaving the pilot with not enough airspeed (energy) to pitch their body in front of the wing when they punch out the last bit of their flare. It's extremely unlikely that spectra lines are going to be too long (since they shrink over time and come with a good setting from the factory). Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  3. Not directed at you: Any canopy is susceptable to collapse in turbulence. If you have to 'change canopies because it's too turbulent' you may want to SERIOUSLY re-evaluation your jumping criteria. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  4. To be fair, almost all the dogs have to be shoed out at some point. There was supposed to be a gate to prevent them from coming in. As a community, at Skydive The Farm at least, we can all do our part. It really requires little effort to tell a dog to get out (or their owner to take care of it) - no more than if someone's kid was misbehaving. Dogs are a lot like kids, and they are absolutely family - I expect people to treat mine as such. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

  7. Heh, I forgot about you Shane LOL. Make that 2 guys I'll let pack for me. Shane has EXTENSIVE experience packing RDS systems which is why I have no qualms at all about him packing for me. The biggest problem I find is that packers, in general, simply don't care about the details required in minimizing a RDS malfunction. Which goes back to the the very very select list I'll let pack for me. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  8. It depends on the DZ. I would encourage you to respect the DZ rules (whatever they may be), At The Farm, dogs are welcome (yes Andy, welcome ) and accepted as part of the atmosphere - it's also the most family friendly dz with plenty of kids. I wouldn't trade it for the world. You'd be amazed how many tandems, and families, love the environment Hans and Greg have cultivated. Anyway, I have a similar mix - a sweety named Chaos (pic attached). They look like siblings
  9. You have obviously never seen a woman in nothing but tennis shoes and ankle socks. Now that is HOT!!!!!!!!! Paul, have you EVER seen a woman naked (your mom doesn't count)? Performance Designs Factory Team
  10. I'm the same as you. Currently there is only one guy I let pack my stuff, and he's not a full time packer - he does it to help me out. I tried it a while ago with a different guy, and the asshole just about killed me. Performance Designs Factory Team
  11. While I have no issues with the OP's choice and wingloading (given his history), I think your attitude is part of the problem today. It's downright irresponsible. Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  12. Unless it's Banesaura's!! Performance Designs Factory Team
  13. And totally unnecessary. Performance Designs Factory Team
  14. It's been determined that the TI was crossing their fingers Dead horse flogging inbound Performance Designs Factory Team
  15. Ok. I confess, we have a secret room dedicated to having discussions on how to make you unhappy. I'll be sure to report back that our plan is being effective The rest of the closet-nazi's will be thrilled Performance Designs Factory Team
  16. Ahhh, Pia, I didn't remember it being the TM (I thought it was the student). My apologies folks, I mis-remembered (I must be getting way too old!) Still, at least it turns out it was just crossed fingers
  17. But if they're paying for it, and THEY choose to do it in their video - isn't it your responsibility to give them what they apparently want? Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  18. Spence, Your initial indignation to the picture was what I was referring to. As for the arm lock, I've seen AFF students do FAR FAR worse to their instructors (bear hugged by a really big guy). Pictures are funny things - they capture this specfic moment in time, but almost never with context - we dont know what 'motion' was going on and who initiated what. Honestly, it seems like me like half of you just want to find a reason to bitch about the picture. Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  19. I would point those people to Jan Chandlers death a few years back fom doing just that (but at 500 feet only to find a hung toggle) and remind them that NO MATTER WHAT you should have a completely controllable canopy above your hard deck - no matter how far away the spot is. 20. Honestly? Really? This is what you people have to gripe about? I thought we was flipping the cameraman off - and I LIKED the picture. Good god people, relax a bit - this is FUN, remember? Performance Designs Factory Team
  21. Things like this are always a tough situation. Unfortunately there's no real nice answer. People either come around, or get injured/die. I wish I could say something more profound than that but I've tried every approach I can think of - ranging from ultra nice and nuturing, to being blatently hard about it - all to no avail. Other than the DZO stopping them jumping the wing, there's nothing you can say to change the person's mind - typically. Now, if they're a danger to others too (often this goes hand in hand), you can speak by not getting on any loads they're on. I know a few people who've done this with great effect - "Oh, so and so's on the load - please scratch our 12 way because we don't want to be under canopy with them". 22. I'm bummed I'm going to miss meeting new people. You'll just have to make sure you come back
