  1. me 2 - all we're looking for is a SAFE, fun relaxed enviroment. Everywhere has politics, I just chose not to get involved. I deal with enough of that at work and don't need it entering my social life as well
  2. sweet! I'll be upgrading tomorrow as well
  3. Ok folks, Update, looks like we're moving in January all going well. I have another question....SWOOP PONDS!! Very appealing to me in chosing a DZ. Who has 'em, who doesn't, and who's getting 'em? I know ASC has one and Rome has a 100 ft (little short), but any others? Blues skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  4. What version of the software is he running? I know 1.21 is out (I'm running an older version) but haven't had the issue you described. I'd suggest upgrading to the latest version anyway as it will improve battery life of the unit. Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

  6. Something I just read on a message board... interesting... Regarding Satti, actually, she isn't a program, she is human. if you paid attention to the movie, Ramakadjah, stated that she was his daughter, meaning that she was born. Therefore, the prophecy was fulfilled, a human was born in the matrix and is able to control it and shape it to the way that she wants it now. The Oracle knew that this was how it was going to end, so she made her choices based on the outcome that she forsaw. Satti is the prophecy and now that she controls the matrix, there is going to be peace, because she understands love. That is why at the end of the movie, the Oracle asked Satti if she made the sunrise and she said that she did it for Neo. The prophecy stated that a human would be born inside the matrix and was able to control it and shape it the way he wanted, when he died, the prophecy foretold that there would be another. The Oracle used Neo as the balance of Smith so that Satti would be protected. Satti is the true One and now there will be peace because the people of Zion were left alive. The other people in the Matrix will be freed because that is what the Oracle wants and Satti loves the Oracle. Neo did die, the code inside of him was assimilated by the machines to set everything right in the Matrix so that they wouldn't lose everyone. The real world will be different now, because the machine's understand love now. Neo sacrificed himself because of love. Therefore, that is inserted into his code. There will be peace with man and machine now. That is why 01 didn't destroy Zion because it knew that when Neo died after taking out Smith, that they would be able to use him to understand what love really is. I don't know if it's right.... but it makes an interesting point about the little girl. I'll be watching the movie again this weekend to see if it fits in. 8. I've worn up to 25 pounds (weight vest and belly band). I'd suggest the belly band weight system as you can easily get it up to 15 pounds and still be comfy, on the ground and in the air under canopy. As for water, well, it's lead...it's gonna help you sink
  9. Nope - haven't seen that one yet, although I've seen Jay Moldeski (sp?) do half a one. Damn - must be a riot to see TJ do that. One day...I'll be lucky to be half as good as these guys. Of course, till that day - I'll be thoroughly entertained by their antics
  10. Dude, I know you've seen this more often that I have but it's awesome to watch TJ do that in person....crazy mofo . Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  11. Sorry - didn't mean to imply that I look at the pond, just that I was warned not to (and did on one of my swoops) and sure enough - sucked right in (not into the pond, but ended up flaring a little late and digging - sucky swoop). I look at the horizon as well, and also try and take in info from my periphirals. Good tip. Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  12. Swooping over water is quite a different thing (as you now know
  13. I used to have one. Nice canopy, VERY VERY responsive to toggle input, good openings, short recovery arc and decent surfs. All in all a good canopy. If you're profile is correct it's a HUGE jump from a 150. Spend some time on a Heatwave 150 first, get used to the oversteer and the flying characteristics of an elliptical. Then gradually downsize as appropriate. Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  14. Thanks to everyone for the info. Can't wait to check out some of these DZ's. Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  15. At least once before every jump (and I practise the PEEL as well), normally twice a jump though. Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  16. My boss took the entire development team . I went in expecting crap and was pleasantly surprised. I think those that expect the "2nd coming" will be disappointed, but for sheer entertainment it was a blast. Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  17. Not to start an entirely new debate, but shouldn't she either be on something bigger then or is there a legit reason she's not standing up? Of course it begs the question why would someone want to fall over landing repeatedly? Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  18. hell yeah. One of the most important lessons I learned that day was to try and "float" out as with as little movement as possible. More I moved, the more wrapped up in the lines I became. Blues skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  19. Possibly true, but these light people are in the minority and the majority of people I've seen who haven't learnt to hang in breaks do not fit into the light person category. So, for now, I must conclude that this is a training issue independent of the actualy canopy size. Much like enforcing patterns, which include (IMO) vertical levels. 20. Hi, I'm certainly no technical guru, but I'd suggest checking out the article by John LeBlanc (PD) Wingloading and it's effects for a better explaination than I could possibly give. I've seen those people do spectacularly on PD 190's (even I thought that was excessively big) and they'd probably do ok under a 150, but certainly no smaller. The only conditions they may not be able to jump in is 20mph + winds and when they're in the 100 jump range, it may not be a bad idea to keep them on the ground anyway. How often do you see less experienced jumpers going up in windy conditions while the more experienced sit on the ground? Quite a bit in my experience. The canopy in question was a Sabre and no - the characteristics would be very different for the same wingloading on 2 different size canopies - Check out that PD article it'll explain it far better than I. Hope this helps shed light on my position. Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  21. amen. I'm continuously surprised how many people are incapable or unwilling to do this. Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  22. I agree but it would be in line with the 2004 SIM advanced recomendations don't you think? Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  23. Sorry I can't agree with you there. There is plenty that person can learn on a larger canopy. Will they learn swooping at mach4 - no, but they shouldn't be either at that stage, there are other things to learn first that a 170 is perfectly suitable for. I agree. Problem is that if you go on wingloading alone you have the potential to put small people under a small canopy too soon. I've seen this happen first hand and have the person (less than 100 jumps on a 120 loaded at approx .9) end up in hospital (very very broken) before then end of 3 weeks under the canopy. Would they have been hurt under a 150? Maybe, certainly not as severly as they were though, in fact I believe they would have been able to recover the situation they put themselves in if they'd been under a 150. I think wingloading is a good indicator but SIZE shouldn't be ignored as a factor too. Once again agreed, but a 120 is not a 150 (as you already know), I really believe that a 150 is the smallest someone with under 100 jumps should go (assuming they don't exceed the wingloadings discussed). Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  24. Nice post Derek (as usual), I just skimmed through it but once again I gotta raise the flag when looking at wingloading only. You know that a small person could end up under a 120 and still have less than a 1:1 wingloading. Sooooo I'd put in minimum canopy sizes. Everything else I agree with so far. Something like: A license 25 1 psf max - 170 min B license 100 1.1 psf max -150 min C license 200 1.3 psf max - 135 min D license 500 no limit - no min. I'm pretty sure the canopy sizes could be refined more, but you get the idea. Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
