  1. Jumptown is definately one of the nicest and friendliest around. There are other options like CPI or Skydive NE, but I personally think J-town is the nicest of the lot. Hope they make a stop and check us out. Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  2. Ok - I'm probably opening myself up to a firing range with this, BUT I see NO PROBLEM with pulling higher than planned. As long as the jumper flys away from exiting groups there should be no risk of collisions with the groups behind them....that is if the group behind them has given enough seperation. What about a premature deployment (or cameramen on RW loads who dump out at breakoff) - they happen at a higher than planned altitude, but if enough seperation is given and the canopy flys AWAY from the aircraft there should be no near misses by a long shot. If pulling high causes a near collision - the issue is not with the opened canopy, but the group behind them who did not give enough seperation. My thoughts. 3. It's funny - I was going to respond to that, but decided it would be futile - thanks for saying what I was thinking
  4. Yeah I agree with Jimbo - no need for anything fancy now. That said it should be noted that the pro-track while a great device will not be usable as a visual altimeter. The neptune can do all the pro-track can do and is a visual altimeter if you set it that way. Blue skies Performance Designs Factory Team
  5. You'll find a fair amount of us who believe in trying to keep people like you alive have high wingloadings. Difference is that we didn't wake up and day and say "hmmm lets push the envelope", instead we honed our skills and push the envelope a little more every day as our skills progress. One day you'll understand this concept. Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  6. RW? BAH! The FF'ers were there all day sat - got some 5 way HD done.....where were you? Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  7. Yeah man - I remember I had 70 or so jumps and was standing on the ramp of a CASA on jump run when it hit. I don't think I've ever been so scared in my life. If I didn't have a teammates that I'd be letting down at the time I don't know if I would have gone on. Needless to say I did the jump and broke the wall, but I don't think I'll ever forget that moment. Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  8. Well I guess that depends on the job
  9. Hey folks, My wife and I are in the process of trying to move to Atlanta and were hoping the locals could give us some good/bad points about the place (weather included too please). Any info is appreciated. Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  10. Neither is buying the smallest canopies, but people don't wanna fly the bigger ones first. Same mentality with FF/flat flying. Learn on something slower, then speed it up if you want. Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  11. Neptune is $250 - does everthing a protrack does (and tells time), plus more. Check 'em out. I use mine as a visual alti and have nothing but good things to say about it. Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  12. Yep - like others have said look for Billvons description of them. VERY important to remember - if you've done a flat turn low to the ground be careful how much, if at all, you ease the toggles up. It'd be unfortunate to perform a good flat turn only to surge yourself into the ground. If you have a chance to, get in a canopy class ASAP. These, as well as other, life saving techniques are covered in detail. Blue skies ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  13. Have you tried pointing your toes a little? I find this helps people "know" where their legs are. Blue skies ian Performance Designs Factory Team

  15. Now if that isn't an incentive enough to come to Eloy...then I'm all outta suggestions
  16. They're trying to get otter loads up this friday (beaut weather forecast). Normally Fridays are pretty slow with only 4-5 loads going up. the weekend looks promising too, there'll be more of us up there on Sat and sun. Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  17. $500 or better? Damn dude - we got them for $200 a piece, but we couldn't be flexible with the dates. Try looking from the 24th - 2nd on Southwest (if you haven't already). Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  18. While I use premiere, Avid is actually the industry standard for PC editing. It's quite a bit more advanced than Premiere and has better audio control/options. For the person who started this thread, Pinnacle Studio 8 is a GREAT place to start (just check the hardware requirements, some vid cards cause issues). Studio 8 also supports DVD authoring suitably enough for the average user. Once you've worked that to the max then start looking into the more hardcore products. 19. Rule #1 - just fun (safety too of course), no pressure to perform or anything. The rest just comes with time
  20. Lets stay calm folks. Do you have a hard shell helmet? If so, I think it'd be safer practise to secure it to something...I mean after all what harm could it do..right? Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  21. Oh hell yes. Count me in on that load. Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  22. yeah I like to wear mine too. I was just trying to point out the other (and often overlooked) danger of not securing a helmet (to your head or otherwise) - projectiles suck
  23. Amen. The exact reason I try and discourage freeflying with low jump numbers. It's not that I don't think the person can't learn to FF without flatflying, but rather that they learn to spot bad situations at slower speeds (hopefully) and hone their "Radar skills" as you put it. Of course, some think we're trying to ruin their fun, but I guess there'll always be those. Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
