    It's a great time to be a canopy pilot. Canopies are getting better and better. Pilots are getting better and better. The competition field is tougher than ever but balanced with the distribution of knowledge. I think the CPC is going to push that even further too. Yes....life is good

    Agreed, but I've seen those instructors give bad advice too. Bottom line is that YOU, as an adult, need to be a shit filter. Take in all the info you can and try to make an INFORMED decision because you believe it is right for you. Not because someone told you to do it. No one is ever exempt from giving bad advice. I know attendance is relatively low in each division but I expect to see it grow and grow over the next few years as regional pilots improve their skills and realize how accessible it is.     Every canopy is susceptible to turbulence. If you think the higher loaded small canopies don't feel it, you're wrong. In fact if something drastic happens (like a partial collapse) the results are usually quite ugly on higher loadings. About 2 years ago I had my 96 fold up at 2000 feet (weird turbulence), I was on my back spinning in no time. Had that happened at 800 feet I'd have been in a world of shit.     This cannot be stressed enough. I'm sick and tired of the BULLSHIT info being given to people out there (normally light, small woman) that they're in danger cause they're 'underloading' their canopy. Lisa summed it up - if you have to downsize to jump in winds you want to jump in, maybe you should reconsider the jump anyway. Seek new coaches if someone tries to feed you this line of crap.     No. I do believe that psycho packing allows people who don't control their slider well in a Pro-pack a better opportunity to control it in the psycho pack. IMO, either method makes zero difference if done correctly. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

    Well said. The ones trying so hard to look 'cool' look like nothing more than a bunch of tools most of the time. I find it far more impressive to watch someone under a canopy (whatever size) flying it well (not necessarily fast), doing great patterns and having good landings than someone who's pattern is all screwed up, zipping all over the sky, diggin on every landing, etc with every indication that they have no idea where they are going or what they are doing. The one's rushing to try to look cool (in their opinion) rarely have the respect from other canopy pilots because they don't deserve it yet. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
