What's the difference between a rear riser stall and a full brake stall? (Please don't tell me it's pulling the risers instead of the brakes, I realize that ;)) I was under the impression that they were the same I promise not to TP Davis under canopy.. Someone almost hit me when i pulled. How can i avoid this?
lummy replied to Newbie's topic in Safety and Training
on another note and more of a question. The guy mentioned that he deployed at 4k and I'm assuming that since the guy almost hit him was still in freefall he had planned on pulling lower. Would it have made sense to discuss opening altitudes with the other groups and possibly rearrange the exit order to have the higher pullers exiting later? Or is this not an issue with proper seperation? I promise not to TP Davis under canopy.. I promise not to TP Davis under canopy.. eat sushi, get smoochieTTK#1 -

grrrr.... [START rant] I think the keyword in this arguement is "responsibility". If you are confident your son is mature enough to take on the responsibility to use his marker gun correctly and abide by all rules regarding it's use set down by his parents and or local laws, if he's responsible enough to know not to give in to peer pressure to go do something stupid, lastly, if he knows the consequences of not following the rules and the parents will follow through on those rules, then I would say let him have fun. Unfortunately, in my case, I just confiscated my 13 year old's painball gun indefinitely . I had to pick him up at the police station Sat nite because he decided to go with the friend who he was spending the nite with, and shoot a bb gun at cars. My son said he knew it was wrong and didn't want to do it , yet he went along to watch. I've known the other kid for 8 years or so and he's a really bright kid and not a troublemaker. I'm not sure what they were thinking or even if they were at all. All I can say is that they are extremely lucky they didn't hurt anyone, nor do any damage. "trying" is the right word :) We're testing a tyan 2882 with 4 400gig SATA drives using a 3ware 9500 on RH, Win2k3 and FreeBSD. No problems with RH AS4 and Win2k3 RC2. We've been wanting to go the 64bit route but aren't too impressed with Intels flavor With the Beastie, I keep running into drive geometry errors and subsequent "file space is full" on installs. I was reading that FB's sysinstall has problems with a HW raid array over 1 terrabyte and thought that might be the problem. I just redid the array with only 3 drives and put the 4th on the SI3114 controller. Same stinkin thing ;( I'm wondering if it's the drives, 400's are pretty danged new? Grrr... I want to get this figured out!!!! LOL... NM.. it seems that the install doesn't like the broadcom NIC. Don't ask me why cause that was just plain weird. I switched to the intel 100mbit and it's plugging along !!!! YIPPEEE!!! I promise not to TP Davis under canopy.. I promise not to TP Davis under canopy.. eat sushi, get smoochieTTK#1

You might wanna try 5.4 beta. Supposedly 5.4 fixes a bunch of problems, especially with systems with more than 4 gigs of RAM. now if I can just get the Beasie installed on my dual optie Me thinks I have to redo the HW RAID to less than a terrabyte for the install to work. how long after graduating from AFF did you wait to get your gear?
lummy replied to superman0710's topic in Gear and Rigging
I had over 50 jumps before I bought my gear. The place I was jumping had a lot of good gear to rent so I was able to try a few different canopies and sizes before knowing what would be best for me. Next drug litigation goldmine for mass tort lawyers...

I'm surprised that a High School could or would hand out a controlled substance. I know that Ritalin is often an abused drug especially amongst kids in High School, but the HS actually handing them out.. wow. My apologies if I've offended anyone. My oldest has ADHD and ritalin is pretty much the only thing that would slow his brain down enough to be able to do anything. I promise not to TP Davis under canopy..
