I recommend that you meet with Special Agent Jeremy Blauser. When he hosted a similar meeting with the Formans, Pat Forman says Jeremy became a true believer in Barb in less than 60 minutes. Shortly afterwards, though, Blauser disappeared, along with all the DNA stuff from Barb that the Formans' attorney had dropped off at the FBI. As your friend, I hope you go prepared. Remember, if Kenny is DB Cooper, what do you think the FBI will do? Shake your hand? Or send you off to Area 51, or some such, for "further debriefing?" Please let us know when and where you are scheduled to meet with the feddies. And call us when you get home...if you get home....

Patsy of MKULTRA? I suppose the comparison was inevitable. You're right, about the "FBI-Conspiracy" being my mark in the Cooper landscape now. That's how it goes, I suppose. Some facts. My name is truly Bruce Smith, although I prefer Bruce A. Smith, which is how my name appears on the book cover. (You did read the book, correct?). Hence, "BAS" is my preferred signatore. You assessment of Cossey appears solid, but I sense he wasn't as much of an opportunist as you might think. He had a more formal relationship with the FBI than just being a slimy character who hung out in the hallways and got underfoot. Rather, he was a parachuting consultant: mentoring the agents, directing the investigation, and performing as a spokesperson to the media. Much of what Geoffrey Gray writes about Cossey in "Skyjack," and the huntfordbcooperforum, indicate thusly. GG cites numerous FBI files that portray a very real relationship between Coss and the Norjak agents, and many of those documents are quoted in my "DB Cooper and the FBI." As a result, evaluating what Cossey said, when, and to whom, is all a question of how much salt we should swallow when pondering his many pronouncements. But to let him off the hook because he was a "wild card" and an asshole is irresponsible. Remember, you are doing a lot of speculating about why Cossey acted the way he did. In my view, to discount his involvement in the DB Cooper case, and more importantly his impact upon the FBI and their investigation, is not supported by the huge amounts of facts and testimonies I have presented in "DB Cooper and the FBI." Is that my "cross"? Well, me and Jesus will have a lot to talk about one day, won't we.

Gotcha, Crapola. Money on the NB8. The question remains, however - was the NB8 on the plane?

"Always give credit where credit is due," my mother always said.

Exactly Bobby! Thank you!!! The FBI made plenty of mistakes. Now, we're trying to ascertain why, and if the act of goofing-up compels anyone to cover it up. Then, there is the more systematic and deliberate conspiracy that is configured and planned, and in Norjak that has yet to confirmed with any concrete evidence. As a result, we are in the process of sifting the tea leaves of evidence. SO, were the cigarette butts lost on purpose, or did some jerk just throw them away? Or, was Cossey just a guy hungry for fame and had a Big Mouth, or was he an opportunist that smart guys at the Bureau put to work to Serve A Higher Good? Were 18 guys actually sitting in Row 18, or did someone make a clerical error? Did Larry Carr really believe everything that Cossey said, or was Larry just a pretty face and had trouble trying his shoes? Did the feds find thousands of shards at T-Bar, or did they miscount? Remember, most special agents weren't math major, but rather attorneys. By the way, Bobby, maybe you could ask your friend at the Bureau, Freddie-the-Teddie-Gutt, if he can find the thousands of shards that Himms say are in Seattle, but the CS and GG couldn't find? Just askin'.

Y'all put a smile on my face, Rikes. Way to go! Yes, NB-6, etc is just a designation for the container. Inside could be LOTS of different stuff, like a C-9 Military canopy that is suggested by Mr. Three-Seven-Seven, or even a civilian chute, such as a Steinthal. As for speculatin' on who whacked Coss, I'd go with a freelance pro on a one-time contract basis. If I had to put money on it, I'd say Serbian or Russian. Somebody white, male, tall and inconspicuous for a upper-middle class neighborhood in the suburbs. Scenario #2. Local punk who is violent and vicious, and lives with his mother. As Jo and I discussed, we believe that Momma found Coss' wallet in Sonny-Boy pants and mailed the cards back to the family, as she was trying to do the right thing. She did it on the Q-T so that her Sonny would not find out and whack his mommy. I, like Bobby, joked with the KCSO about the case, and PIO Sgt West didn't laugh when, in the face of weeks-worth of delays from the KCSO, I suggested that NCIS would have picked up the fingerprints and DNA from the cards, envelopes and stamps in 42 minutes. She didn't even chuckle. By the way, Rikesie, I think we need to consider a terminology change. I get confused when you post something as BS. Perhaps it would be better if you would use BAS, such as King BAS, when you want to address me directly, and BS when you merely want to offer your opinion on what I say. Such as: That's a Bunch of BS, King BAS. Just a thought. Lastly, Scenario #2 kind of let's the FBI off the hook for whackin' Coss, but I could work in the MKULTRA angle - you know a young kid hypnotized to smack Cossey in the head with a pipe wrench. I mean, that was the purpose of spending all that taxpayer money for decades - get guys to do the dirty work and not get PTSD because they can't remember anything. Anyways, greetings from Diaper Mt. Glad to have you back. Where were you? Was sex involved? Just askin'...

I have Hayden as my source, too! Funny how life works, eh? So, do you think Norm lied to me, or I just mucked-up my notes and Bruce Thun was busy talking with Norm and didn't see my confusion? Or, do you think I'm making this stuff up? Oh, and what's your source for your opinion? Or is it just a fact-less opinion.
-
Okay, Bobby, so now you're saying that Cooper's chutes were Hayden's, and not Cossey's. Yet, Hayden says he sent two identical civilian 26' Pioneers to Sea-Tac. So where did the "military" NB-8 come from? Okay...now you are quoting someone without a source. This is how digital voice recorders or vid cams come in handy. I have Hayden...who has seen the FBI document and has a copy in a frame at his office...tell me it is basically accurate. And there is the FBI document as well, which describes the chutes reasonably well. You will have to provide proof that Hayden actually claims this, you know. So now you're saying that Hayden has reversed himself, and now accepts that he sent a "military" NB-8 to Sea-Tac, and never knew he did so for 40 years until he talked with you? Can you prove that?

-
And you believe the FBI and this document because, why? Because they are the FBI and the FBI never lies, always gets things right and never makes mistakes? That FBI, or the real one? You know, the FBI that welcomed Cossey into their ranks, structured their investigation around his pronouncements, anointed him the official go-to-guy for all media parachute questions - like your fave Amboy chute - and then walked away from him when he got whacked?
-
So, you believe Earl Cossey? You think he told the truth about providing a military chute? How come? So, do you think that Cooper used Coss' NB-6, or was it the NB-8? How do you chose between the two, since Coss said he provided both at different times to different people.
-
What military chute, Bobby? You have yet to establish that a military chute, whether it be an NB-6 or an NB-8, was ever on Flight 305. What's your proof, and how did you draw you conclusion?

No shit, girl.

My Dear 18E and 1K - I offer quite a bit of information and analysis of why other skyjackers stole their plane. In fact, I did a whole chapter on Robb Heady. Plus, there is a lot on Richard McCoy. Other books touch on this subject as well, such and Tosaw's and Rhodes. I'd love to hear your comments after digesting those commentaries.
-
Really wrong, Bobby. My book is filled with a lot more dialogue than your Into the Blast. But then how would you know, since you've never read my book, and it appears you have no intention of ever doing so. Sigh.
-
Nope. Wrongo again, Bobby. 1. The chutes did not end up at Boeing Flight Services, where ever it may be, if in fact it even exists. WSHM documents from the estate of George Harrison clearly show that the two chutes from Hayden arrived at the NWO freight desk at Sea-Tac by taxi as arranged prior with Norman. All this was confirmed when I spoke with Norm several years ago at his shop in Renton. No need to talk to the guy again. 2. The FBI docs are in gross disarray. Get used to it Bobby; it's just the way it is. In fact, the more I read of the FBI docs the more they appear to be akin to Into the Blast. The FBI clearly needs an "editor." A supervisor would do - anyone with some smarts who could read every agent's note and sort it all out. As good a writer as John Detlor is, and he is the author of the History of the FBI, he still mucked-it-up back in '71.

Nope. I talk about the DZ extensively. In fact, you are featured in that chapter. I call you the "godmother" of a resurgent DB Cooper investigation. Since you're clearly making one ignorant statement after another, I'm gonna cut you off- no more free books for you. You simply don't bother to read what I've written and given to you for free. From now on, sweetie, if you wanna read what I've said about you and the rest of the Norjak case, you're gonna have to pay $6.99 like everyone else.
-
BOBBY! You haven't even read Chapter 1 of my book!!! Does your mother get as exasperated with you as I? Whew. I rediscovered the Cooper story at Thun Field when I met the Formans, so forget the "major hub" canard.
-
Nope. Bobby, you are kind of close, but No Cigar. Barry was at work at Pacific Aviation. Further, Barry told me that he had never heard of Boeing Flight Services, saying, "I even worked for Boeing and I never heard of that place." As for your speculations, nice try but I ain't buying any of it. Not for a second.

Robb Heady performed his skyjacking with only one chute - a front pack, which he wore under his windbreaker. Jo, I seriously wonder sometimes if you have ever read my book, even though I have sent you plenty of copies. Wassup, girl?
-
I always thought he requested the extra chutes to imply he was taking a hostage with him, so the authorities wouldn't sabotage any of the chutes. That's just an opinion. Your opinion was widely shared in 1971, and still is today.
-
Wrongo, Bobby. The current figures in Norjak are: 1. Confessions reported to the FBI - 900-plus (Galen says 922) 2. Number of suspects/leads reported to the FBI that have been investigated: 1,100 and counting. Ya know, Bobby, some days I really wonder if you ever read my book. How many copies have I sent to you???
-
Mixed metaphors there, Rikesie - smell of Diaper Mt. stinging your eyes? But at least you got my Cooper Royalty correct. I always did think of myself as a King. 1. Yes, six parachutes: two from Cossey, two from Hayden, and two from Issaquah Sky Sports via the WSP. That is one scenario. 2. No, I am not implying that Cossey was an FBI shill. Rather, I was trying to prove a hypothesis that Cossey helped the FBI fabricate a new narrative to the Cooper skyjacking that would minimize Cooper's popular appeal and get guys like me off the FBI's back for not solving the case for 40-upteen years. To call Cossey a "shill" is not very dignified. The Cossey spin, I think, was masterful, and it lasted for 40 years. Impressive, no? The many Cooper stories that Cossey told was quite artful. Further, any distraction that Cossey's announcements and behaviors might provide from searching for the real skyjacker was simply icing on the cake, I think, for the FBI. No? 3. Yes, I have often suggested that Coss got whacked because of his involvement with Norjack and his many bad behaviors, which are now coming to light. Herr Reichs, all of this seems to get your knickers in a twist, if I might use a British saying. How come? Is Earl Cossey your patron saint, or are you the CEO of the American Parachute Rigging Association? As for The Document on the parachutes, I'll have to go digging for it. In all actuality, what you're asking me to post was already posted here in September 2011, which is where I got it. Snowmman discovered that Geoffrey had stolen some of the FBI's files and stored them in a secret cache in cyber space. Snow posted the codes here and many of us went snooping through GG's stuff. It was fun! And very educational. As for the document itself, it is virtually incomprehensible, which is why Bobby re-wrote it into Common American English. Of course, with Bobby-being-Bobby, he fucked it up in his own delightful way, which we continue to try to sort out. Such are the many duties of Royalty. Attached are the actual files, from pages 226-227 of a larger Cooper case file that I stole from GG. BTW: Even though the FBI says that Hayden is the source of their information, Norman says he never spoke with the FBI, and he denies all of these descriptions.

Nope, Barb Dayton was first - 1978. She beat Duane ( no w, no y) by quite a few years. Her confession was posted in the UW "DailY" about the same time, too, I believe. Jo, please be more careful when you call someone a liar. It makes you look shabby and coarse.

Depending on what scenario you believe to be true, there could have been 6 chutes provided to DB Cooper. Or more, if you consider that Flight 305 could have had extra chutes and clothing stowed in the overhead compartments somewhere between DC, MSP, Montana, etc... But, "No," I have never considered a 2nd jumper. You?
