Thank you so much for the kind words. I'll be sure to pass them along to Don. I think it's a shame that people have a tendency to crucify him about the jet when he is the ONLY one who has EVER brought a jet for the general populace to jump from. People seem to remember the bad, and not the good. The feeling that the jet was the ONLY reason to come to the convention when it may be one of twenty jumpships on a given day, has really had a detrimental effect on the entire staff. Every one of the 150 to 300 people who volunteer their time every year spends time reading all of the posts and when they feel that their hard work is being bashed simply because one of the fleet didn't show, well it can be depressing. The simple fact is, if people want an organizer who will continue to attempt to talk other plane operators into using unique and exciting jumpships that haven't flown skydivers before, then they need to support the Convention. Don was the one who brought us such tremdous opportunities as Rod Tinney, Mr. Douglas, Several DC 3's, Twin Beech, Fat Annie. Most of these were eventually seen at other boogies AFTER they were used at the Convention, and the operators learned that it could be profitable, and that they were safe to jump from. Don has stuck his neck out more than once, and I have seen him write great big fat checks to cover the expenses that we all run up having this terrific party every year. The reason the Convention looks like a million bucks is because that's about what it costs to put it on. Doesn't always make a million bucks, but hey, it's Don's party! I would be checking out WHY I am having this problem. Is the admissions policy to your apartments too lenient? Do you have a good credit checking policy? Can you do a police background search? Do you check out previous landlords/ roommates? The number one thing that used to impress me when I was renting to people was their CAR. Not type, age or expense, but how they took care of it. I always walked them to their car, made comments on it, to make sure it was theirs. If it is clean and well cared for, they will probably be careful of their home as well. It is looking VERY good at this point, but remember I said we are still awaiting confirmation. If you guys are afraid to pre-register based on that, well, I understand. I'm glad that some of you do hang out and spread your special infectiousness in the spectator area. We had 15,000 people in one weekend a few years back because of the great time the spectators had had as the skydivers signed autographs and did pictures with them thru the ten days of the event. Then there was that terrific Saturday night impromptu air show/ pond swoop/ special skydiver trick night, and the town was hooked!
